Abstract:After research on a 2000t/h subcritical forced-circulation balanced ventilation were applied boiler and the structure and operation of its auxiliary system builds up this heat transfer model of a superheater’s pipe wall and analyze the effect of primary factors on the overtemperature of the pipe wall. Fault tree structure was used to uncover the multiplayer logic between the overtemperature of the superheater’s pipe wall and the faults.

Abstract:By adopting three-dimentional model,the simulation and analysis of worn-out on connecting pipe bundle of low-pressure reheater nearby the furnace outlet suffured from gas-phase flow field distribustion,movement of flyash,and concentration distribution etc.in the flue duct of boiler concerning 600 MW unit have been carried out.Results show that the flue gas velocity,particle's concentration and average collision velocity of particles nearby the furnace outlet all are larger due to influence of solid-gas two-phase flow distribution in the flue duct,thereby,the velocity of wornout on connecting pipes of the low-pressure reheater is also larger.It is recommended to install wornout-resistant covers of 6 mm thickness onto the windward surface of horizontal I-shaped pipe bundle of the low-pressure reheater between bottom of the first row connecting pipe and the other connecting pipes,as well as installing wornout-resitant covers with 3 mm thickness onto the other remained parts.

Abstract:Directing against the problem of somewhat higher exhaust gas temperature from boiler no 1 in Wenzhou PowerGeneration Co Ltd, a retrofitting scheme of suitably increasing the heating surface of lowtemperature superheater and of the main economizer has been put forward. After retrofitting, the exhaust gas temperature reduces 20℃, the boiler efficiency increasing 0.8 percentage point. According to annual operation hours to be 5000 h, and price of coal to be 320 yuan (RMB) per ton, the annual coalsaving can reach 2240 t, saving fuel cost valued at 0.72 million yuan (RMB), economic benefit being obvious.

Abstract:The quality and safety of welding parts of small diameter tube of reheater in thermo-electric factory are vital.If the quality and safety are ignored,frequently halting boiler and making huge economic lost might be after beginning work.Three reasons of leakage of welding parts of reheater were introduced,including incorrect design,bad materials performances and severe conditions.Incorrect design was most important reason.The welding parts of small diameter tube of reheater in a thermo-electric factory were calculated by finite element methods.The finite element analysis model was put forward in this paper.The affection of tilting angle and thickness of welding parts to stress intensity factors were researched in this paper.The figures of stress intensity factors obtained in this paper were referenced by engineer.

Abstract:Abstract Several coal-fired thermal power boilers with the same sub-critical parameters in Mengxi area of Inner Mongolia have successively suffered from cracking and leakage failure events of reheater connecting pipes, most of which occur at chamfered back tool grooves on the inner wall grooves of pipe welding joints. In order to find out the cause of cracking, typical failure samples were intercepted for macro-morphology, microscopy, SEM, chemical composition, mechanical properties, wall thickness measurement analysis and design and operation data investigation of several boiler equipment. The results show that comprehensive factors such as deviation of burning coal type from design of boiler, automatic dispatching of AGC load in power grid, low nitrogen combustion modification and so on cause changes in boiler combustion conditions and operation, which results in excessive high input level of reheater cooling water, resulting in long-term alternating thermal stress and non-periodic vibration of straight pipe and elbow arranged after fine-tuning of refrigerant flow direction in reheater. Finally, thermal fatigue cracks are induced to initiate and propagate through the stress concentration area of the chamfered knife groove of the inner wall of pipe welded joints.

Abstract:The No.1 300MW boiler in Zhanjiang Power Plant has had the problems of local overheating of high temperature reheater and large steam temperature deviation at the exit of reheaters for a long time.According to the cold test of flow field at the high temperature reheaters' entrance and exit and the hot test of temperature field at it's entrance,the cause of reheater's overheating and steam temperature deviation is analyzed and an explanation associating with the structure of reheater's tubes is made.

Abstract:Reformer furnace hot outlet manifold is a critical component in aromatic plants. Unfortunately, a hot outlet manifold used in Nanjing YPC Refining & Chemical Co., Ltd. failed after it has been in service for only 2years. In the present paper, a failure analysis of the failed hot outlet manifold was performed by careful visual observation, mechanical properties tests, chemical content examination, microstructural analysis and microchemical analysis of fine precipitates. Finite element method (FEM) considering creep effect was also employed to define the evolution of critical region. Experimental results showed that the failure was a combination of overheating and high stress concentration. Exposing it to excessive temperatures at high stress significantly accelerated the creep rate, thus, leading to the premature failure. FEM analysis showed that hoop stress generated by the work inner pressure was the main reason leading to the crack initiated and propagated along axial direction of the manifold. Moreover, sequence of the failure region achieved by the simulation correlated well with the experimental analysis. To prevent the failure, better control of operating temperature was strongly recommended.

Abstract:Directing against the problem of somewhat lower steam temperature existing on a 2008t/h boiler of one power plant, the arrangement of burners in the boiler has been adjusted, increasing the heating surface area of rear panel reheater, carrying out thermal calculation and combustion adjustment test for the said boiler. The results of calculation and test show that the following conditions are most helpful to enhance the main steam temperature: (1) contamination factor in the furnace to be maintained at 0.35～0.45; (2) coefficient of excess air to be about 1.3; (3) the upswing angle of the burner to be 8°～16°; (4) burnoff air in upper level to be closed, and oxygen content to be maintained at low level(3.0%). By means of adjusting swing angle of the burners and the spray type desuperheater, the said problems of main steam and reheated steam have been solved, enhancing the safety and economic behavior in operation of the unit.

Abstract:Through the analysis of the leak between the tubes and the tube sheet of a vertical fixed tube sheet re boiler,it was found out that the leak cause at the tube inlet of the re boiler was because of the small amplitude vibration induced by the tube bundles under the horizontal action of the shell side,this vibration applied periodic alternative stress on the connection between the tubes and the tube sheet,leading to a fatigue damage at the tube inlet. Therefore,a finite element stress analysis of the tube inlet with heat exchange tubes and welding seams was made,and an experimental investigation was made of the fatigue strength of the welding between the tubes and the tube sheet.

Abstract:The elbow behind micro-spray desuperheater of boiler no.2 in one power plant has cracked many times,seriously affecting operation of the unit.Through inspection of the pipes,analysis of coal quality,and cold-state test of the reheater,it is believed that the crack of elbow is a typical thermal fatigue crack,resulting from deviation of actual coal sort from the designed coal sort,and temperature deviation of flue gas at outlet of the furnace,thus,leading to overtemperature of the heating surface,and frequently putting desuperheating water into service.Based on these,measures and recommendations,such as retrofitting the secondary air into reverse tangential firing,enhancing the feed-water and steam quality,improving quality of furnace-incoming coal and atomizing effectiveness of the nozzles,etc.,have been put forward.

Abstract:In a petrochemical companies fertilizer plant,the heat exchange tube of the vertical high pressure waste heat boiler was frequently explode and leak.In order to solve the problem,the finite element analysis software ANSYS was used to design nonstandard parts,such as even cover according to Analytical Design Standards for Steel Pressure Vessels(JB4732—95).And the dangerous cross sections are analyzed and verified.The waste heat boiler possessing vertical water conduit type is rebuilt as horizontal fire tube structure,it solves some problems about heat exchange tube exploding and leaking.The method bring huge economics benefit,it offers the reference for designing and rebuilding the waste heat boiler.

Abstract:<p>For some π type boilers with four-corner tangential and deep air staged low nitrogen combustion technology, under full load condition, the steam temperature deviation for both sides of reheater outlet can reach as high as 15 ℃. The left and right cross arrangement of steam between two stage reheaters increases the steam temperature deviation at the outlet, and the large amount input of desuperheating water makes the economic efficiency of the unit decrease. A flue gas residual rotation adjusting experiment for a 660 MW ultra-supercritical boiler was carried out by adjusting the level and up and down swing angle of the separated overfire air nozzle, and the grid method was applied to measure the radiation intensity for particles at the high-temperature reheater area according to the principle of radiation spectrum. The results show that there exists strong visible radiation in this area. Under the 600 MW-load condition, the radiation heat transfer of particle accounts for 25.95% of the total heat absorption of the high-temperature superheater and particle combustion still exists. In addition, the combustion share accounts for about 1.83% of the received carbon content of coal. The particle temperature and emittance data fitted from the Planck's law indicate that the high-temperature particles are enriched at single side due to the inertial effect of residual rotation of flue gas. The residual rotation momentum of the separated over-fire air is insufficient to balance the temperature rise of both sides of the low-temperature reheater. Therefore, a new type of combustion system rebuild principle of changing a five-layer Separated Over-fire Air (SOFA) nozzle to two-sections of six-layer SOFA nozzle is proposed to mitigate the combustion delay of pulverized coal particles and the wall-type tangent circle arrangement of the upper separated over-fire air nozzle, improving the residual rotation momentum of flue gas.</p>

Abstract:The recycled heat potential of hot air is analyzed on the basis of present status of hot air in high-temperature area of 4# boiler in a power plant of Zhejiang. A novel feasibility program is proposed and furthermore, the hot air recycled unit is developed. The pipe arrangement plan as well as recycled heat and coal conservation is given below. With that unit, the temperature of combustor and side wall flame observation platform could be lowered so that the operation environment is improved. On the other hand, the economical efficiency all over the plant is increased.

Engineering Failure Analysis

Abstract:This work aimed to analyze a failure that occurred on the TP347H reheater tube in a supercritical circulating fluidized bed boiler from a thermal power plant. Optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS), electron probe micro-analysis (EPMA), digital microhardness tester (DMT), X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy equipment (XRF), and carbon sulfur analyzer (CSA) were used to characterize the failed tubes. The results show that the cracks originated in the heat-affected zone and simultaneously propagated in the circumferential and radial directions. There is a multilayered structure in the crack under the effect of the thermal cycle and preferential oxidation. The failure mechanism was identified as stress corrosion cracking. The cracks were produced under the combined effects of the tensile stress and the high-temperature flue gas environment. Related improvement measures have been implemented to prevent further failures.
