Development of special resin HDPE 5500B for profiled bottles

Abstract:The authors determined the production process conditions and physical property specifications of special high density polyethylene(HDPE) resin 5500B for profiled bottles.The test data of the industrially produced HDPE 5500B confirm that the resin has melt flow rate 0.60-0.80 g/10 min,density 0.952-0.958 g/ cm~3,nominal tensile strain at break higher than 600%,haze 0.003%-0.010%,environmental stress cracking resistance time longer than 25 hours and tensile stress at yield higher than 25 MPa.The n-hexane extract, mass loss on drying and residue after combustion of the resin is 2.3,0.4,1.8 mg/g,respectively.The mechanical and hygienic properties of the resin reach the designed specifications,and the products can meet special requirements of the downstream customers.
