Abstract:In view of troublesome problems influencing upon the safety of 125MW units with hot air for sending pulverized coal and allocation of the primary air,such as fire-carrying in the primary jet orifice,and slagging on the water-wall in zone of burners etc,occurred after enhancement of volatile and heat value in the coal. Aim at these problems,there are some solutions have been summarized in the paper and we have analyzed the merits and drawbacks of the various solutions combined with the specific examples. When the problem such as fire-carrying in the primary jet orifice occurred in the 125MW units,we can draw lessons from these solutions.
Impact of Coal Types and Pulverizing Methods on the Thermal Performance of Blending Coal-Fired Boilers and Their Operational Optimization

Abstract:The long-term operation with off-designed coal types brings a power plant significant safe and economic problems on its boiler operation.Aiming at solving the problem,tests are conducted to understand the operational status of the units,to analyze the coal blending problem and to optimize the combustion schemes according to the adaptability of the boiler to different coal types.The test results show that the coal blending should not only simply depend on the calorific value or the volatile contents the unit adaptability to different coal types and the influence of coal type dissimilarity on combustion characteristics should also be considered.In the new coal blending scheme,the anthracite (V~=9.23％) of Pulverizer C in phase I project is swapped with the lean coal of Pulverizer A in phase Ⅱ project,which increases the average volatile contents and reduces the coal type dissimilarity for the phase I project.After the optimization,the vibration of the pulverizer gets better.The average boiler efficiency of the units gets a 0.62 percent improvement and the average coal consumption for power generation gets a 0.65 g/(kW· h) decrease.

Abstract:Indouesian coal is an important complement for fuel coal used for power generation in eastern coastal region of our country, but most of said coal only can be utilized for bituminous coal fired boilers after mixing and blending. Results of study in laboratory for burning behaviors of a classical indonesian single coal sort and its blended coal, as well as test situation for utilizing said coal on 300 MW unit, have been presented. Results of analysis by using sedimentation stove and thermal balance show that the indonesian single coal has many features, such as ultrahigh volatile content and water content, low ash content, low ash fusing point, and low calorific value, boasting behaviors as extremely easy to fire, extremely easy to burnout, and seriously slagging. After coal blending, the ignition and slagging behaviors of said coal have been obviously improved, temperature field in the furnace and slagging tendency being also obviously improved, but having certain influence upon the drying capacity of coal pulverizer.

Abstract:According to the experiment research of anthracite coal mixed burning in boiler of Huadian Qingdao Power Generation Corporation Limited,the anthracite coal,lean coal and black coal with low-volatile matter mixed burning scheme was defined initially.The burning safety and economical efficiency of anthracite coal blended with different coals and at different blending proportion or under different mixed burning mode were comprehensively compared,and an optimized coal blending scheme was proposed,then the blended coal brand of Huadian Qingdao Power Generation Corporation Limited was formed finally.

Abstract:The application of separated over-fire air (SOFA) in coal-fired boiler results in significant decrease of NOx emission but increases the trend of fireside water wall high temperature corrosion and incomplete combustion of pulverized coal. In order to meet the balance between low NOx emission and high boiler thermal efficiency, the main factors of air staging including SOFA flow, SOFA jet velocity and SOFA jet height were experimented on a 600MWe boiler. At the same time, the main components of flue gas beside the water wall were measured to evaluate the trend of high temperature corrosion. By comprehensive analysis, the optimum running mode of SOFA is concluded: (a) 75% of normal SOFA flow is suggested to reduce the trend of high temperature corrosion; (b) higher SOFA velocity is better for higher boiler thermal efficiency; (c) higher SOFA jet height is beneficial to the reduction of NOx emission.
Cause Analysis on High Carbon Content in Fly Ash of Boilers

Abstract:From the view of boiler test and coal property,causes were analyzed for high carbon content in fly ash of certain utility boiler when the abnormal coal was fired.The cause of effect of the equipment and the operational parameters on carbon content in fly ash was excluded through boiler test.Thermogravimetric analysis indicates that there is large difference in combustion characteristics between the conventional coal and the abnormal coal.The ignition characteristic of the abnormal coal is better than that of the conventional coal,while the burn-out characteristic of the abnormal coal is inferior to that of the conventional coal.Analysis on petrofacies of the coal sample and specific surface area of the coke during pyrolysis were carried out.Results show that the abnormal coal is a blended coal,and the variation of the specific surface area of the abnormal coal is obviously different from the conventional coal during pyrolysis.When pyrolysis of the abnormal coal is carried out at temperature between 500 ℃ and 700 ℃,with the increase of the pyrolysis temperature,part of the holes will be blocked by the coke and the coke is liable to melt out,resulting in obvious reduction of specific surface area,which is the cause for high carbon content in fly ash of the abnormal coal.

Abstract:To find out the specific reason for desulfurization slurry poisoning when some power plants burn Majialiang coal,experiments about co-firing the Dahun coal with Majialiang coal of different proportions were carried out.The composition analysis and size analysis for fly ash collected from different locations of the precipitator show that,the Majialiang coal and Dahun coal has almost the same fluoride and aluminum content,their fly ash's composition has no obvious difference.However,with an increase in proportion of Majialiang coal in the mixture,the particle size of fly ash gradually decreased,and the proportion of fine particles gradually increased,which could cause a reduction in the efficiency of the electrostatic precipita-tor,resulting in more fine dust entering into the desulfurization tower.Thus,the fluoride and aluminum content in the desulfurization slurry increased,causing poisoning and deactivation of the slurry.After the e-lectrostatic precipitator was transformed into the electric-bag filter,the slurry poisoning problem of burn-ing Majialiang coal was successfully solved.However,when the proportion of Majialiang coal rose,the pressure difference in the electric-filter precipitator increased more significantly.Therefore,properly con-trolling the co-firing ratio fo Maj ialiang coal can keep the pressure difference within a reasonable range.

Abstract:The reasons of the jam fault of the hot primary air valve in the 600 MW coal-fired boiler were analyzed combining with practical example.The method to solve the jam fault of the hot primary air valve was put forward.A series of treatment measures was adopted for the air valve,and good effect was obtained.The requirement of opening adjustment of the hot primary air valve in higher frequency and in long time was satisfied,and the safety and reliability of the equipment operation were improved.

Abstract:In order to decreasing the pulverized coal thermal power plant NOx emission damage to human and environment,low NOx pulverized coal combustors are utilized widely.But if the low NOx pulverized coal combustors are operated incorrectly,the fly ash carbon will increase significantly.In the paper,the screen separation and loss of ignition are used to study the fly ash carbon distribution,mercury intrusion and X-ray diffraction are used to study the fly ash carbon inactivation,so as to analysis the reasons of the very high fly ash carbon in dual channel low NOx pulverized coal combustors.It is showed that the dual channel low NOx pulverized coal combustor fly ash carbon distribution has two pinks and the big particle size fly ash carbon inactivation is more significant than that of the small.The author believed that incomplete combustion due to short residence time in combustion zone of small pulverized coal particle and the inactivation due to long residence time in anaerobic and high temperature zone of big pulverized coal particle lead to the increasing of fly ash carbon in some dual channel low NOx pulverized coal combustors.

Abstract:The operation state of the combustion system and the reasons of occurred problems before the combustion system reformation were analyzed.Aiming at the situation of the coal market,which supplies much inferior coal and much coal kinds,the combustion system of the boiler was reformed,and better effects were obtained.The target,which is to fire the blending much inferior coal and there is not serious coking to form on the water wall and the platen superheater heating surface of the boiler,was realized.The safe and stable operation of the combustion system was ensured,and the overall economic performance of the boiler was improved.

Abstract:The safe operation of 125 MW units with hot-air conveying pulverized coal and centralized primary air is affected by the following problems such as fire-carrying in the primary air nozzle and slagging on the water-wall around burners etc. with the increasing of volatile and heat value. Generally, the pressurized cold air is added to prevent the fire-carrying, however, the exhaust gas temperature is increased by 15 ℃ or so than normal condition and the boiler efficiency reducing about 1%. Another effective way to eliminate fire-carrying is to use thick/thin phase burner to re-design the structure, with large circumferential, reducing the bluff body and adjusting the tangential of the primary incorporation. The practical application of #10 boiler in the TianShengGang Power Plant indicated that the fire-carrying problem was solved effectively without adding cold air, in spite of the volatile and heat value of the coal were somewhat increased, and the carbon fraction in fly ash and exhaust gas temperature decreased by 2.55% and 20.5 ℃ respectively, the boiler efficiency increased 2.69%. Based on this, the direct annual economic benefits will be more than 4 million, and the coal adaptability and stable combustion ability can be improved greatly.

Abstract:Experimental study on the slagging characteristics of Yulin & Pingshuo blended coals was carried out in a drop tube furnace.The slagging indexes were determined at different temperatures and the quantitative analysis on the composition of mineral matters in the ash slag was made using X-ray diffraction analysis(XRD).The results indicated that four crystalline minerals-iron oxide,anorthite,mullite,silica,and another amorphous glass are mainly consisted of the ash slag and the first three have a significant effect on the slagging tendency of coals.Higher content of iron oxide in the ash and anorthite in the ash slag,together with lower content of mullite in the ash slag leads to greater slagging tendency.According to this,using coal blending to obtain lower iron oxide content,and to decrease and increase the formation quantity of anorthite and mullite respectively,the slagging tendency of Shenmu type coal could be inhibited at a lower level.

Abstract:The rich-thin pulverized-coal combustor was applied in power plant boiler of 125MW unit to enhance the coal suitability of the boiler.After the renovation,the maximum Vdaf of suitable coal was increased from 20%-25% to 35%.The boiler could run in 55MW stably without oil.The boiler efficiency was increased by 2.29% at rating load.At the same time,because of the application of rich-thin pulverized-coal combustor,NOx emission was reduced 30% and 37% with two different coals.

Abstract:In china, many thermal power plants have to burn blended coals forced by the complexity of coal type and market tension and transportation pressure of coal purchasing. As a engineering implementation method of coal blending," different coals grinding in different mills and then mixed burning in the furnace" has many advantages such as low investment, easy to control milling system parameters and can be optimized online, etc, compared with traditional coal blending methods. But it is limited by the number of mills and cannot achieve high-precision ratio of blending. To remedy this shortcoming, a model of two-level optimization of coal blending for the thermal power plant with direct blowing pulverizing system was established in this paper. The tradional coal blending was regarded as first step of optimization. The secondary optimization was implemented by adjusting the outputs of different mills, then the blend was changed to accurate ratio. Furthermore, since the existence of coal bunker, it made a time lag from coal discharge to combustion, meanwhile, the real-time load was unpredictable and the coal utilization rate was inconsistent of each bunker. The three reasons make it uncertain of the current coal of bunker. To identify each coal in the mill(equivalent to bunker) correctly was the basis of achieving the second blending optimization. Therefore, a soft-sensing model of coal moisture based on the heat balance equation was used to take this work. At last, a intelligent coal blending system by the two-level optimization model was developed for a power plant and achieved good results.

Abstract:Particulate matter from coal combustion is one of the most main atmospheric pollutants in urban China currently. It has caused serious damage to the environment and human health. A 3012H type automatic smokedust(flue-gas) monitor was used to collect PMs in front of the ESP of 1#boiler in Shajiao C pow er plant in Humen. The influence of boiler load and coal type on the emission characteristics of the fly ash was studied. The particle size distribution,chemical composition,mineral constituent and morphology characteristics of the fly ash were also analyzed. The results indicate that the fractions of PM1and PM2. 5increase with the rising of boiler load,how ever,the concentration of the total smoke-dust decreases. The level of PM1and PM2. 5becomes higher when the blending ratio of Yitai coal increases. The coal is easy to form coal cells containing molten spherules when burned in a high load boiler,and to form porous cenospheres when burned in a low load boiler. The mineral component of the ashes collected from different situations is similar.
Analyzing Factors of Unburned Coal in Fly Ash During Pulverized Coal Reburning

Abstract:A ruburning retrofit scheme of a 410t/h pulverized-coal (PC) boiler was designed. And a method to calculating combustion efficiency of PC group in changing oxygen concentration was brought forward. Applied the method to the boiler, the effects of reburning fuel ratio, excess air ratio (α) and reburning coal fineness on combustion process and unburned coal in fly ash (UBC) were analyzed. The results show that the scheme is fitting and UBC increases 1.04% compared with that of the current operation. The burnout zone should be higher than 7 meters and provide combustion time more than 1 second in order to gain high combustion efficiency. Small change of α of main zone, α of reburning zone and reburning fuel ratio affects UBC little through it affects combustion process. UBC increases evidently with α of burnout zone decreasing. UBC decreases exponentially with reburning PC fineness increasing. And reburning PC is finer, UBC increase is smaller.
