Abstract:We have demonstrated the crystalline ZnO–Al2O3 core–shell nanowire structure by atomic layer deposition (ALD) at a temperature 100°C. The core–shell structure could have potential applications in the fabrication of ZnO field effect transistor. After dissolving the ZnO core, shape defined, rigid and robust crystalline Al2O3 shelled nanostructures have been fabricated. Nanowire ZnO nanostructures have been replicated by alumina shell. This is one of the most effective techniques for producing core–shell or shell/hollowed nanostructures of any desired objects. The Al2O3 shelled nanostructures could have potential applications as space confined nanoreactors, drug delivery, nanofluidic channels and optical transmitting.

Abstract:A new nano-fabrication system based on AFM is presented. Using this system,a sophisticated pattern can be obtained on the surface of Al_2O_3,getting the pattem from a picture by software to control the precise steps of the cantilever and the tip. The no-linear aberration of piezo-tube is corrected by software of this system.In the experiment, structure of nano-scale is obtained, and more sophisticated nano elements can be obtained in further research.

Abstract:The first bulk homogeneous nanocrystalline Zr60Al15Ni10Co15 (at. %) alloy prepared by melt casting without the amorphous matrix is reported. In this work, the complete grain refinement directly by solidification processing, when qualitatively compared to the previously reported nanocrystallization by postdevitrification of amorphous alloy solid precursors, produces nanograins that have a relatively narrower size range (7.4 nm in average) and are randomly oriented. The total inhomogeneous chemical affinity of the multicomponent alloy was proposed to thermodynamically favor the three-dimensional nanoscale nucleation from alloy melts. Clustering of different atoms in the ZrAlNiCo alloy occurs while the material is still in the molten state. (C) 2004 American Institute of Physics.

Abstract:We propose a novel technique for the large-scale synthesis of aligned-plate nanostructures that are self-assembled and self-supporting. The synthesis technique involves developing nanoscale two-phase microstructures through discontinuous precipitation followed by selective etching to remove one of the phases. The method may be applied to any alloy system in which the discontinuous precipitation transformation goes to completion. The resulting structure may have many applications in catalysis, filtering and thermal management depending on the phase selection and added functionality through chemical reaction with the retained phase. The synthesis technique is demonstrated using the discontinuous precipitation of a γ′ phase, (Ni, Co) 3 Al, followed by selective dissolution of the γ matrix phase. The production of the nanostructure requires heat treatments on the order of minutes and can be performed on a large scale making this synthesis technique of great economic potential.

Abstract:NixZn1-x alloy nanowires were successfully prepared by the templated electrodeposition technique. The morphology and the microstructures of as-deposited nanowires were examined by scanning electron microscope, x-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscope and electron diffraction. It is demonstrated that the content of magnetic element Ni in the nanowires can be easily adjusted by changing the ingredients of the electrolyte, the deposited current density and the deposited voltage, which is critical to tune the magnetic property of the nanowires. X-ray diffraction and electron diffraction analysis indicate that the NixZn1-x nanowires exhibit different structures with the variation in the quantity of nickel in the nanowires. It is expected that these heterogeneous alloy nanowires will have a potential application in nanoscale giant-magnetoresistance devices.

Abstract:Three types of nano-scale structure have been fabricated and characterized using SEM,AFM,etc.In this paper,multilayer thin film deposition technique has been used to fabricate nano-scale structure with 20nm,25 nm and 35 nm line-width.LER and LWR of nanoline are evaluated with an offline image analysis algorithm.The experimental results indicate that the LER/LWR of the lines is low and the uniform of the lines is high.EBL and ICP technique are employed to fabricate grating patterns with nominal height 220 nm.The result shows that the high frequency fluctuations of line edges after etching decrease,the correlation length increases and values of root mean square deviation(σ)increase.Single and multiple nano steps have been fabricated using FIB technique,and the relationship between the size of the Z-axis and energy of process are analyzed.

Abstract:Rod-shaped ZnO–In2O3 junction structure was obtained by bottom up approach of nanostructure fabrication and characterization. In2Zn3 alloy was evaporated in a tube furnace of 1150°C temperature and 5×10−1Torr vacuum. The deposit collected on silicon wafer placed down stream of the tube furnace was examined by scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). SEM and EDS results proved the existence of rod-shaped ZnO–In2O3 junction structure. TEM analysis revealed the orientation relationship between ZnO and In2O3. It is suggested that this structure is formed via vapor–liquid–solid process and the suitable combination of source temperature, tube vacuum, and substrate temperature is the key for the formation of such novel structure. This report demonstrates the possibility of fabricating junction structure by bottom up approach, expanding its capability of fabricating structure with desired properties.

Abstract:A series of ZnO nanostructures such as nanowires, nanobelts, nanocombs and mesoporous nanoballs were fabricated by a simple carbon reduction method without catalyst. The morphologies and microstructures of all samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The results indicate that different deposition temperatures have great impact on different shapes of ZnO nanostructures. The growth mechanisms of these ZnO nanostructrues suggest that, by controlling the experiment parameters, different morphological configurations nanostructures can be fabricated.

Abstract:The nanostructures and nanodevices special fabrication technology including electron beam lithography (EBL), focused ion beam (FIB) technology, microcontact printing (μCP) and nanoimprinting were introduced in this paper. The examples of Y-shape waveguide coupler and high precision nanopattern of China Seal were designed and fabricated based the EBL and FIB technology respectively. Their structures can be characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), scanning tunnel microscopy (STM) and atom force microscopy (AFM) etc. The C60 molecular on a Si (111)-(7×7) surface in variable temperature is deposited and detected by STM. The fabricated pattern and structures results indicated that the novel fabrication and characterization technology is very important and effective tools in nanoscale science field.

Abstract:By using the gas evaporation method, Zn line particles were prepared, whose average size was about 100 nm. By compacting these Zn particles under different pressures, three nano-structured Zn samples of 2 cm in diameter were produced. Using ultrasonic techniques, ultrasonic velocity and attenuation were measured in the samples in the frequency range from about 2 to 50 MHz.

Abstract:We investigated a quick patterning using gel-nanoimprint process for zinc oxide (ZnO) thin films. The X-ray diffraction measurement revealed that the ZnO films had wurtzite structure by annealing in the ambient air or oxygen. The ZnO film annealed in oxygen exhibited higher refractive index of 1.92 (at 720 nm for wavelength of light) which is close to that of a conventional ZnO film, whereas that of ZnO film annealed in air atmosphere provided very low value of 1.64. The width of ZnO patterns was in good agreement with that of a polydimethylsiloxane mold.
