Abstract:The laser alignment technique is widely used in the measurement of straightness due to its unique capabilities of non-contact detection, fast response and high accuracy. By coupling the laser beam into a single-mode fiber, traditional alignment method can be greatly improved, since the emitting beam from the fiber basically won’t be affected by the variation of the incident intensity distribution. However, such method still suffers from errors caused by the vibration of the emitting fiber end and air turbulence. In this paper, the traditional alignment reference, which is the centroid of the intensity distribution, is replaced by center of the dark spot in a diffraction pattern, by adding a spiral phase plate (SPP) into the optical path. The center of the dark spot is proved to be stationary when the laser beam drifts. The far-field diffraction model of SPP is theoretically analyzed in detail. In the calibration experiments, the detected position data of the scanned CCD is highly linear with a correlation coefficient of 0.99999. The system is guaranteed with outstanding stability by a series of experiments, in which the standard deviation of the x and y coordinates are respectively only 7.0% and 33.7% in short-term tests and 20.3% and 25.3% in long-term tests. With simple configuration, the proposed system demonstrates satisfying performance in laser alignment.

Abstract:An effective computer aided alignment (CAA) scheme based on the singular value decomposition (SVD) of sensitivity matrix is used in the alignment of a set of 20X Schwarzschild projection optics. Alignment simulation is conducted by ray tracing software CODE V to verify the convergence of CAA method within the calculated tolerance limit. The result shows that, with the misalignment value calculated by CAA, fine alignment could be achieved after only one adjustment step. Alignment experiment is also performed according to the CAA scheme. After fine alignment, the measured wavefront error (WFE) is 18nm in rms, which is consistent with the CODE V simulation result in ideal alignment status.

Abstract:We propose a new method for the development of multi-beam systems for the spatial alignment and stability of beams based on the error separation technique. This method avoids alignment errors caused by coupling effect of piezoelectric devices, inaccurate correction calculations, and detection mode of the angular deviation. According to the results by external detectors, the error value of spatial alignment and the root mean square [RMS) of deviations under control during 1 h can be equivalent to approximately 0.87 and 1.06 nm at the sample plane under an oil immersion lens [focal length f = 2 mm). The RMS of deviations is less than one-third of those currently reported for multi-beam systems; therefore, higher alignment and stability accuracy can be achieved with our proposed method.

Abstract:To improve the calibration efficiency and accuracy of line structured light sensor, a plane checkerboard and concentric circle complementary line structured light calibration system was designed integrating with self-backlighting and pose-adjustable functions. Based on the geometric relationship between the real projection position of the concentric circle center and the center of projection ellipse, the nonlinear optimized compensation model for eccentric error was established, which precisely determined the eccentric error compensation position of the circle center under the perspective projection. Compared with the traditional calibration method, the proposed method reduced the re-projection error by 84.7% and effectively solved the problem of high-precision calibration for eccentric error compensation of circular markers. By combining the plane passing through the optical center and the center line of the light bar with the target plane in the camera coordinate system, the coordinate information of the spatial intersection lines was obtained for many times to increase the feature points, and the problem of lower calibration precision of plane fitting due to the fewer feature points was solved by using the least square method to fit the optic plane equation. In complex environments, the average error of the outer diameter of the large-size grinding wheel is 0.005 1 mm measured by repeated experiments, and the results show that the designed calibration system has certain precision,simplicity, and practicability.
High-Accuracy Method for Measuring Two-Dimensional Angles of A Linear Guideway

Abstract:A single method for simultaneously measuring 2-D rotational angles is proposed by using a collimation laser. Compared with the traditional autocollimator measurement method, the proposed method can also be applied to longer distance and higher precision angular measurement. The 2-D angular drift of the reference datum beam is suppressed by a factor of 10 via expansion. A traditional single lens in front of the detector is replaced by combination lenses to increase the sensitivity and compactibility. The measurement principle of the 2-D angles is also analyzed. The feasibility and stability of the presented system are verified by comparison with the Renishaw ML10 laser interference measuring system. The experimental results show that the linear correlativity is 0.99999 and the point-to-point standard deviation error is less than +/- 0.2 arcsec in a +/- 60-arcsec range and 2000-mm distance. This proposal is most advantageous for simultaneous long distance and high accuracy of 2-D angular errors measurement of a linear guide manner. Abstract:The rapid development of modern science and technology puts forward higher and higher requirements for displacement measurement. As a non-contact measurement technology, laser ranging has played an important role in various fields for the unique advantages and has become a hot topic in the field of measurement research. At present, there are little research on high-precision displacement measurement at medium and long distance, the needs of which are widespread in practical application, so this work has important value. Among various laser ranging technologies, the laser triangulation method has the advantages of high-speed, high precision, simple structure, etc. Therefore, this paper chooses the direct laser triangulation method to carry out the research after analyzed the common types of laser triangulation system. In view of the requirements of high-precision displacement measurement requirements at medium and long distance, this article discussed the design of laser triangulation measuring system and the selection of structural parameters. Then we proposed a direct laser triangulation measurement structure under Scheimpflug conditions. This system selects PSD displacement transducer to collect the position information of the scattered light spot. After that, this paper discusses the principle of laser triangulation distance measurement and simulates the system. Then the influence of different parameters on high-precision displacement measurement and the relationship between them are investigated. Based on the research talked above, we got a set of structural parameters of the displacement measurement system. The measurement accuracy can be ~micron with the working distance of 500mm.

Abstract:In this paper,according to the principle of distance measuring using triangulation,a suit of distance measuring using single-point laser triangulation system based on CMOS is designed through the technique of MCU.The hardware of the system and the structure of the software are described in detail,due to the non-linear characteristic of the used light-sensitive transducer′s calibration curve,the method of using piecewise linear line to approximate calibration curve is given,at last,the results of the experiment are introduced and it is analyzed the relation between every parameter and experimental precision.The results of the experiment prove the feasibility of the idea,the measurement error of this method is less than 3%.
Intelligent Measuring System for Performance Parameters of Laser Range Finder

Abstract:In order to measure the performance parameters of laser range finders, a new intelligent measuring system is developed, which introduces advanced control technologies, very quick and convenient WIN32 computer software and a skillfully designed beam splitter system. It can synchronously measure optical axis consistency, width and energy of the pulse, beam divergence angle, and so on. A 1296×1030 CCD is adopted in order to ensure 10″ of spatial resolving ability; A 350MHz oscilloscope is used to catch the laser pulse as narrow as 10ns; A laser power meter which has high accuracy and large dynamic scope is used to obtain accurate energy measurement of the laser pulse. The system has been checked and accepted, and all the performance parameters meet the design demands. Now it is used by user and operates very well.

Abstract:The laser technique based sensors and actuators can provide many superior properties as noncontact, high sensitivity, remote operation, and reliable performance in contrast to other mechanical and electrical techniques. In this paper, we design and fabricate a high-precision 360 degrees laser receiver for leveling, especially for agricultural and construction field. The laser receiver is primarily composed of photoelectrical conversion module, electrical signal processing module, and display panel module. Based on the centroid method, the detection error of the laser receiver with respect to laser source and silicon photocell array, is analyzed and simulated. The design and fabrication process are described in detail, including the overall structure and electrical circuits. Furthermore, this fabricated laser receiver is demonstrated to be high precision through several static and dynamic tests in the distance of 10 and 50 m. Besides, this fabricated laser possesses wireless transmission function, which provides much convenient for users in remote operation.

Abstract:This paper proposed a design of algorithm of an excimer laser coaxial observation processing system which can automatically track preset line. With using of the Visual C + + image processing technology and the least square method, the XY axis in both directions of processing platform can obtain accurate processing displacement, and stability control platform for real-time tracking a straight line center. Processing system can acquire the coordinate of processing place where can get the distance from the centre of image in order to achieve real-time tracking.
Calibration of Laser Beam-Direction for Point Laser Sensors

Abstract:A new calibration method of laser beam-direction was presented to implement any-orientation measurement for point laser sensors in reverse engineering.A calibration block whose calibration surface could be adjusted was designed to co-operate the calibration approach.During the calibration,the point laser sensor steped in an equal distance along X、Y、Z axes in the calibration surface,then the laser beam-direction could be confirmed according to the relationship between the stepping size and the length change of laser beam.Based on the CMM platform,the coordinate transformation process from the sensor coordinate system to the reference coordinate system was deduced when the point laser sensor was set in any-orientation,and the calibrating process was introduced in details.Finally,a comparison experiment on contact measurement and point laser measurement was carried out to verify the proposed method.Experimental results indicate that the error of the point laser sensor calibrated by the proposed method is (0.045 2±0.016 8) mm,which can satisfy the requirements of sampling accuracy in reverse engineering.

Abstract:Multi-line structured light three-dimensional (3D) scanning measurement system enables to obtain the richer 3D profile data of the object simultaneously during one frame, ensuring high accuracy while structured light is deformed for the modulation by the object. Nevertheless, current calibration methods cannot fully take advantage of its high precision. In this paper, a fast and high-accuracy 3D measurement system based on multi-line lasers with a spatially precise structure via integrating a diffraction grating was proposed. This helps achieve precise calibration results of the light planes by introducing spatial constraint relations of the diffractive light, thus improving measurement accuracy. The operating principle and the workflow of the proposed system were described in detail. The measurement accuracy of the developed prototype was verified through contrastive experiments. At a working distance of 400 mm, the results show that the root mean square error (RMSE) of the proposed system is 0.083 mm, which is improved by 37.6% compared to the traditional calibration method of light planes for the ranging system. The system utilizing a grating that facilitates the integration of the device has great application value.

Abstract:Aiming at the dimension measurement of image,a new high accuracy measurement technology based on area charge coupled device(CCD)and a measurement method by contrasting images are proposed.The dimension data of meas-ured parts are calculated by contrasting the images of standard parts and measured parts.By using the algorithm of subpixel based on polynomial interpolation and the technology of image contrast,the exact location of edge can be estimated within a pixel.An improved theoretical algorithm of subpixel based on polynomial interpolation is derived.An application sample in industry demonstrates that the maximum bias of the proposed procedure is 0.01 mm.

Abstract:This paper designs an embedded displacement measuring device based on error separating technique of multi-circle overlapping three-probe method. Considering the requirement of high precision and high speed of modern CNC machine, high accuracy CCD laser displacement sensor is used in the system to measure the rotating spindle, and then the device send the result to PC for further analysis by error separating software. According to the experiment, the roundness errors separated by such method are totally similar, rotation accuracy increase as rotation speed accelerated in a certain speed. All of these are realistic.

Abstract:High efficiency and precision of the pot center detection are the foundations of avionics instrument navigation and optics measurement basis for many applications. It has noticeable impact on overall system performance. Among them, laser spot detection is very important in the optical measurement technology. In order to improve the low accuracy of the spot center position, the algorithm is improved on the basis of the circle fitting. The pretreatment is used by circle fitting, and the improved adaptive denoising filter for TV repair technology can effectively improves the accuracy of the spot center position. At the same time, the pretreatment and de-noising can effectively reduce the influence of Gaussian white noise, which enhances the anti-jamming capability.

Abstract:Based upon the direct position detection approach and pixel analysis technique, a CCD-based system has been developed for three-dimensional real-time positioning. A data sampling interface card has been designed to gather the 2D coordinates of the LED markers. The spatial positions of moving multiple spots can be obtained instantly. A calibration frame has been constructed to acquire the system parameters before detection. A modified DLT (Direct Linear Transformation) algorithm is presented to correct the nonlinear lens distortion using a planar spot-grid. The precision of the system is less than +/- 1mm in a 500mm x 500mm x 500mm space. This corresponds to a spatial resolution of about one part in 500 or 0.2% overall accuracy. This system has been applied in evaluating the therapeutic effect of Lumbar Spine Function in manipulative orthopedics. Some discussions about how to acquire more accurate results by modifying the system and the algorithm are also presented.
Adaptive straightness measurement system with dual-frequency laser

Abstract:A new two-frequency laser alignment system was developed which consisted of two Wollaston prisms with same structure. One prism was for measurement, and the other for compensation. Using phasemeter, the two prisms could be moved out off the beam, so that the system could be used to measure coaxality. The displacement drift and angle drift of laser beam were compensated by the optical system automatically. These adaptive characteristics were analyzed theoretically. The experimental result is in concordance with the theoretical analysis.
