Abstract:An efficient one-pot procedure for the synthesis of 2-aminobenzimidazoles from isoselenocyanates and various substituted diamines is described. Precipitation of elemental selenium from the reaction mixture greatly simplifies the purification procedure and also allows it to be re-used for preparation of isoselenocyanates. A possible mechanism for the formation of 2-aminobenzimidazoles is proposed.

Abstract:Diaryl diselenides and diaryl ditellurides are commonly employed as selenyl or telluryl sources, and they have a wide range of applications in organic synthesis. Herein, various diaryl diselenides/ditellurides are furnished in moderate to excellent yields under metal-free conditions. This method features high efficiency, good functional group tolerance, straightforward operation, and easy scale-up (running in 4 mmol-scale for most cases). Mechanistic studies indicate that this reaction may proceed via a radical pathway. Significantly, the correct matching of Br – and dimethyl sulfoxide under an air atmosphere is critical to this transformation. Abstract:sulfomethyltetrazole 5 thiol disodium salt, a side chain of cefonicid,was synthesized from sodium bisulfite,ammonium hydroxide and formaldehyde through five steps of reactions. The yield of product was 10.8% in the optimum condition. The process was more economic in which the iodomethane is substituted to the bromoethane in the second reaction.

Abstract:Benzothieno[2,3-b]thiophenes, [2,3-b:3′,2′-d]-dithienothiophenes, and their selenium derivatives were synthesized in good yields from readily available 3-ethynyllithio-benzo[b]thiophenyllithio compounds, sulfur or selenium, and 2equiv of acid chlorides. Two heteroarene rings were constructed by a twofold cyclization via an acid chloride-induced electrophilic ring closing and the McMurry cyclization using Zn/TiCl4 reagents.

Abstract:The reaction of hydrazide with carbonyl chloride in the presence of sodium carbonates leads to the corresponding 1,2-diacylhydrazines vertical bar 1a-t, (RC)-C-1(O)NHNHC(O)R-2, R-1 = aryl, R-2 = or alkyl vertical bar in moderate to excellent yield (57-90%). The latter reacts with 2,4-diphenyl-1,3-diselenadiphosphetane-2,4-diselenide (Woolins' reagent, WR) in refluxing toluene to give a series of new 2,5-disubstituted 1,3,4-selenadiazoles (2a-t, 51-99% yield). Abstract:A highly efficient new protocol has been developed for the formation of C‐Te bonds, leading to both symmetrical and unsymmetrical diaryl tellurides. This protocol utilizes sodium aryltellurites (4), which can be easily prepared from low‐cost aryltelluride trichlorides and NaOH. The synthesis involves the use of 4 and arylazo sulfones as starting materials in the presence of (MeO)2P(O)H. A variety of diaryl tellurides are obtained in moderate to good yields using this method. Importantly, this innovative protocol eliminates the need for traditional, highly toxic aryltellurolating reagents such as diaryl ditellurides and elemental tellurium. This study will bring new vitality to the synthesis of tellurides.

Abstract:A domino reaction of o-alkenylaryl isocyanides with elemental sulfur and selenium in pure water was developed for the efficient and green synthesis of quinoline-2-thione and diquinolyl diselenide derivatives. Mechanistical investigation reveals that intramolecular nucleophilic addition of an alkenyl group to the in situ generated isothio/isoselenocyanate accounts for the formation of a quinoline-ring. Moreover, this transformation is also amendable for the convenient preparation of 2-fluoromethylthio-/seleno-quinolines by a one-pot three-component reaction.
