Abstract:Anomalous syn-diastereoselectivity of indium-mediated coupling of aldehydes with bromides Z-3b and E-3b is reported. The reaction afforded high syn selectivity regardless of the allylic bromide geometry. Preliminary studies on the enantioselective indium-mediated allylation were attempted and found to give the desired products in moderate yield with high syn selectivity and enantioselectivity.

Abstract:Several polystyrene-supported selenides and selenoxide have been prepared firstly. These novel reagents were treated with LDA to produce selenium stabilized carbanions, which reacted with aldehydes and alkyl halides, followed by selenoxide syn-elimination and [2,3] sigmatropic rearrangement respectively to give Z-allylic alcohols stereoselectively.

Abstract:(Z)-1-Chloro-1-seleno-1-enes have been synthesized regio- and stereoselectively by the reaction of lithium chloride in HOAc with acetylenic selenides. In the presence of 5% mmol of PdCl2(PhCN)(2) and 10% mmol of CuI, (Z)-1-chloro-1-seleno-1-enes coupled with terminal acetylene rapidly to give selenoenynes in high yields.
