Abstract:A regio- and stereoselective synthesis of substituted allyl selenides is described. Hydrozirconation of propargyl selenides and its further reaction with aldehydes or acyl chlorides afford 4-selanyl allyl alcohols or 4-selanyl-2-en-1-one, respectively.

Intermediates 2 were reacted with acyl chlorides 3 via Zr-Cu transmetallation with retention of the configuration to afford alpha-seleno or alpha-silyl alpha,beta-unsaturated ketones 4 in good yield.

Abstract:An iron-catalyzed highly anti-Markovnikov selective, enantioselective hydrosilylation of vinylcyclopropanes with PhSiH3 was reported for the preparation of valuable chiral allylic silanes via stereospecific C-C bond cleavage. Simultaneously, difficultly prepared chiral VCPs could be also obtained with moderate to excellent enantioselectivity via this kinetic resolution pathway. The chiral Z-allylic silanes could be converted to various chiral allylic derivatives. A possible mechanism via an iron-silyl species was proposed based on experimental and computational studies.

Abstract:A Rh2(OAc)4/XantPhos ((9,9-dimethyl-9H-xanthene-4,5-diyl)bis(diphenylphosphane)) catalyzed regio- and stereoselective hydrosilylation of alkynes with various tertiary silanes in acetonitrile represents a straightforward and highly effective strategy for the synthesis of β-(Z) vinylsilanes. This method exhibits remarkable compatibility with diverse functional groups, encompassing halides, nitriles, amines, esters, nitro compounds, and heterocycles.

These novel reagents were treated with LDA to produce selenium stabilized carbanions, which reacted with aldehydes and alkyl halides, followed by selenoxide syn-elimination and [2,3] sigmatropic rearrangement respectively to give Z-allylic alcohols stereoselectively.

Abstract:A highly regio- and enantioselective cobalt-catalyzed sequential hydrosilylation/hydrogenation of alkynes was developed to afford chiral silanes. This one-pot method is operationally simple and atom economic. It makes use of relatively simple and readily available starting materials, namely alkynes, silanes, and hydrogen gas, to construct more valuable chiral silanes. Primary mechanistic studies demonstrated that highly regioselective hydrosilylation of alkynes with silanes occurred as a first step, and the subsequent cobaltcatalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of the resulting vinylsilanes showed good enantioselectivity.
