Abstract:A dimeric salen ligand derived from L-tartaric acid was synthesized through linking two salen units with 1,6-dibromohexane. The corresponding Ti complex was proved to be an efficient catalyst for asymmetric addition of trimethylsilyl cyanide to aldehydes, providing the corresponding optically active trimethylsilyl ether of cyanohydrins with moderate to good enantiomeric excesses and excellent yields under relatively low catalyst loading condition.

Abstract:A Lewis-acid-mediated intramolecular trifluoromethylthiolation of alkenes with phenols that can offer direct access to SCF3-containing chromane and dihydrobenzofuran compounds was disclosed for the first time. Numerous SCF3-containing chromanes were obtained in moderate to good yields using.-substituted 2-allyphenols as substrates. Meanwhile, various SCF3-containing dihydrobenzofurans with oxa-quaternary centers were also delivered in moderate to good yields using beta-substituted 2-allyphenols as substrates.

Abstract:Catalytic amount of chlorotrimethylsilane (TMSC1) was found to be an effective silicon Lewis acid catalyst in catalyzing the Michael-type Friedel - Crafts reactions of indoles and chalcones to afford corresponding 3-substituted indole derivatives in good to excellent yields. The method is metal-free, has mild reaction conditions, and generates good yields of products with greater selectivity, which make it a useful and attractive process for the synthesis of different indole derivatives.

Abstract:We report a new thiourea-Bronsted acid cooperative catalytic system for the enantioselective cyanosilylation of aldehydes with yields up to 90% and enamioselectivities up to 88%. The addition of an achiral acid was found to be crucial for high asymmetric induction. Mechanistic investigations using a combination of NMR, ESI-MS, and density functional theory computations (including solvent corrections) at the M06/6-31G(d,p) level of theory suggest that the key catalytic species results from the cooperative interaction of bifunctional thioureas and an achiral acid that form well-defined chiral hydrogen-bonding environments.

Abstract:A novel triphenylphosphine-mediated direct trifluoromethylthiolation of indole derivatives using trifluoromethanesulfonyl chloride as the SCF3 source was developed. Sodium iodide facilitated this transformation by generating iodine in situ which was found to accelerate this transformation. The use of a transition metal-free protocol, readily available reagents, and mild reaction conditions allowed this protocol to be easily scaled up.

Abstract:Trifluoromethylation‐based difunctionalization of alkenes provides a step‐economical route to CF3‐containing polyfunctionalized organics. New and scalable process is highly desired in this field. Here, we report a simple and environmentally benign method for olefinic thiocyanotrifluoromethylation. By the use of PhICF3Cl as unique CF3 agent and NaSCN as the SCN source, the difunctionalization of alkenes selectively occurs on water at ambient condition. Mechanism studies suggest a radical process in which SCN anion is proposed to act as not only reductive initiator but also S‐nucleophile. All tested reactions are compatible with mono‐, di‐, tri‐, and tetra‐substituted alkenes and with high functional group tolerance. This method is also suitable for the selenocyanotrifluoromethylation of alkenes. Therefore, a sustainable platform has been established to synthesize valuable β‐trifluoromethylated thio(seleno)cyanates in green way. Abstract:A selenium-catalyzed trifluoromethylthiolation/[2,3]-sigmatropic rearrangement of tertiary allylic and propargylic alcohols which could provide straightforward and facile access to trifluoromethyl sulfoxides was developed. Various allylic and allenic trifluoromethyl sulfoxides were obtained with moderate to excellent yields. Meanwhile, a Lewis acid mediated trifluoromethylthiolation/1,2-rearrangement to synthesize β-SCF3 carbonyl compounds was also accomplished. These two tandem reactions feature with mild reaction conditions and metal-free. During these two reactions, the chemoselectivity of electrophilic trifluoromethylthiolation was revealed.

Abstract:A Cu(I)‐catalyzed three‐component reaction of 2‐iodo‐2,2‐difluoroacetophenones, alkynes and TMSCN is described. The reaction provided a facile method for the synthesis of difluoroacyl‐substituted nitriles, which might be served as potentially useful fluoroorganic intermediates for further transformation in drug discovery. This method has broad substrate scope, good efficiency and excellent stereoselectivity . Preliminary mechanistic investigation indicated that radical‐mediate process was involved in this cyanodifluoroalkylation reaction.

Abstract:With the Cu(I) catalyst and the base, alkyl chlorides could react with TMSCF3to realize the trifluoromethylation of alkyl chlorides under irradiation in DMAc. This green and effective method avoids high temperature, poisonous and harmful reaction conditions. The trifluoromethylation of alkyl chlorides can successfully construct unactivated- C(sp3)-CF3bond,which is of great value in organic chemistry.

Abstract:An unprecedented use of trifluoromethanesulfonyl hydrazides as effective SCF3 sources has been established in the sulfenylation of indoles. A range of substituted indoles participated in CuCl-catalyzed oxidative sulfenylation reaction with TfNHNHBoc in the presence of dimethyl sulfoxide to furnish structurally diverse 3-indolyl trifluoromethyl thioethers in moderate to good yields with very high regioselectivity.

Abstract:The initiator-free electrochemical trifluoromethylsilylation and cyanosilylation of aldehydes were developed in an undivided cell. A DFT study reveals that the direct cathodic activation of trimethylsilyl reagents significantly released the congestion around the 'Si' atom, allowing the Si-O bond affinity to form concerted anion intermediates with aldehydes. Thus, intramolecular -CF3 and -CN migration make the reactions much easier to carry out without initiators.
