Abstract:The reaction of selenoamides with functionalized α-haloacetate in 1∶1 or 1∶2 molar ratio with no catalyst under the neutral condition at room temperature to furnish bis(carboxyalkylmethyl) diselenides via selenium transfer reaction was investigated.No bis(carboxyalkylmethyl) selenide was separated.A new and convenient synthesis of bis(carboxyalkylmethyl) diselenides with the advantages of mild reaction condition,high yield and good chemical selectivity was afforded.Corresponding byproduct ethyl benzoate was also gained.This reaction provides a new method for selenium transfer reaction.

Abstract:Phenyl or m-tolyl selenoamides reacted with functionalized alpha-haloacetic acid in 1 : 1 or I : 2 molar ratio with no catalyst in various alcohols to undergo a selenium transfer reaction. This reaction in different molar ratios furnished the same C-Se-Se-C coupling products with a special structure bis(alkoxycarbonylmethyl) diselenide. A new and facile method for synthesis of such bis(alkoxycarbonylmethyl) diselenides with the advantages of mild reaction conditions, high yields, easy availability of starting materials and good chemical selectivity was provided. In order to investigate the mechanism for this reaction, methyl a-bromoacetate or ethyl a-bromoacetate as starting material was added to the solution of phenyl selenoamide in ethanol in I : I or 2 : I molar ratio under the neutral condition at room temperature. The results indicated that the same product bis(methoxycarbonylmethyl) or bis(ethoxycarbonylmethyl) diselenide was formed. Byproduct ethyl benzoate was also separated. A mechanism for this C-Se-Se-C coupling reaction was proposed.

Abstract:As selenium transfer reagents, arylselenoamides react with a variety of alkyl halides in ethanol under mild conditions to give dialkyl diselenides in excellent yields. Similarly, alkyl halides treated with selenourea form dialkyl diselenides. The possible mechanism is discussed.

Abstract:Diacyl diselenides were synthesized by the reaction of arylselenoamides with acyl chlorides at 1 : 1 molar ratio using chloroform as solvent in good yields. Diacyl selenides were formed by the reaction of arylselenoamides with acyl chlorides at 1 : 2 molar ratio. A mechanism for the new method of generating diacyl diselenides and diacyl selenides was proposed.

Abstract:A convenient and effective method of palladium‐catalyzed C–H selenylation of the 2‐aryl acetamides assisted with removable 8‐aminoquinoline with readily available diselenides and selenyl chlorides has been developed. This selenylation reaction is scalable and tolerates a wide range of functional groups, providing a straightforward way of the preparing unsymmetrical diaryl selenides and dibenzoselenepinone. Preliminary mechanistic studies indicated that a single‐electron transfer type mechanism and facile C–H metalation are operative.

Abstract:The reactivity of aryl selenoamides toward alkyl halide was investigated in Et3N-CHCl3.Surprisingly,it was found that the dialkyl selenides as major product with a trace of dialkyl diselenide as sideproduct were obtained by the reaction of aryl selenoamide with benzyl chloride at 1∶1 molar ratio,and dialkyl diselenide was formed as major product with a trace dialkyl selenide as sideproduct by the reaction of aryl selenoamide with benzyl chloride at 1∶2 molar ratio in Et3N-CHCl3.It is different from the reaction of selenoamides with alkyl halides in benzene/ethanol.This reaction provides not only a new selenium transfer reaction but also a new method for synthesis of dialkyl selenides and dialkyl diselenides.

Abstract:A mild and general procedure for the difluoromethylation of organochalcogen compounds has been accomplished via sulfoxide and selenoxide-directed [3,3]-sigmatropic rearrangement/Haller-Bauer reaction with difluoroenoxysilanes. The reactions showed good functional group compatibility, wide substrate applicability, and facile scalability. The synthetic utility is highlighted by the iterative use of this protocol to construct multi-CF2H-containing chalcogenides and the late-stage modification of pharmaceuticals.

Abstract:A new protocol has been developed for the formation of C−Se and C−S bonds by the direct selenosulfonylation of alkenes. This protocol is operationally simplistic, has a wide substrate scope, uses readily available seleno and sulfonyl sources, and is amenable to gram-scale synthesis. This reaction represents a significant addition to the limited number of reactions available for the intermolecular selenide difunctionalization of alkenes and would be useful for the synthesis of sulfur- and selenium-containing molecules

Abstract:Acylselenourea diselenides, with the formula [RC(O)NC(Se)NR 2 ] 2 , are underexplored organoselenated compounds with potential applications in medicinal chemistry, coordination, and organic synthesis. This article presents a comprehensive study on the synthesis, spectroscopy, and structural characterization of the novel diselenide N,N '-diselanediyl-bis-((diphenylamino)methanylylidene)-dibenzamide, i.e., R = Phenyl. The compound was synthesized by a one-pot bimolecular oxidation between the tautomeric forms of the selenourea intermediate PhC(O)NHC(Se)N(Ph) 2 . The total yield of the reaction was moderate (40 %), with losses attributed to the formation of amorphous red selenium. Spectroscopic analysis, including FT-IR, 1 H NMR, and 13 C NMR, confirmed the molecular identity of the compound. The crystal structure of diselenide was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, which revealed the formation of a centrosymmetric dimer through a bidirectional hydrogen bond of the C=O···H-Ph type. Hirshfeld surface (HS) analysis and topological study of electron density (ρ) provided detailed information on the strength of the intermolecular and intramolecular interactions in the crystal structure.

Abstract:A facile stereoselective bis-trifluoromethylselenolation reaction of alkyne derivatives was realized for the first time. The reaction of alkyne derivatives and AgSeCF3 was found to proceed in the presence of N-bromosuccinimide and water in tetrahydrofuran and afforded bis-trifluoromethylselenolated products in moderate-to-excellent yields. The new methodology enables one-pot synthesis with a broad substrate range.
