Abstract:Diacyl diselenides were synthesized by the reaction of arylselenoamides with acyl chlorides at 1 : 1 molar ratio using chloroform as solvent in good yields. Diacyl selenides were formed by the reaction of arylselenoamides with acyl chlorides at 1 : 2 molar ratio. A mechanism for the new method of generating diacyl diselenides and diacyl selenides was proposed.

Abstract:A one-pot reaction of arylisoselenocyanates, hydrazine and bis(trichloromethyl) carbonate, in the presence of a base provides an efficient route for the synthesis of 5-arylamino-1,3,4-selenadiazol-2(3H)-ones in good to excellent yields. A plausible mechanism is proposed for the reaction.

Abstract:An expeditious method to access 2-aminobenzoxazoles and 2-aminobenzothiazoles from various substituted 2-aminophenols and 2-aminothiophenols, respectively, with isoselenocyanates in a one pot procedure is reported. Elemental Se precipitates nearly quantitatively in the reaction without any deselenizing agent and it can be reused. A possible mechanism for the formation of the target products is proposed.

Abstract:An efficient one-pot procedure for the synthesis of 2-aminobenzimidazoles from isoselenocyanates and various substituted diamines is described. Precipitation of elemental selenium from the reaction mixture greatly simplifies the purification procedure and also allows it to be re-used for preparation of isoselenocyanates. A possible mechanism for the formation of 2-aminobenzimidazoles is proposed.

Abstract:Polystyrene-supported (4-phenylseleno)morpholine was synthesised and could be used as an efficient α-selenenylating agent for saturated aldehydes; subsequent oxidation of polystyrene-supported α-selenoaldehydes and the products from the Wittig reaction of them with chloromethylidenetriphenylphosphorane with an excess of 30% hydrogen peroxide at room temperature afforded α,β-unsaturated aldehydes in good yields and purities.

Abstract:We have developed efficient methods for the syntheses of 3,5-disubstituted isoxazoles and 1,2,3-triazoles, and 1,3- and 1,4-cycloalkadiene derivatives using polymer-supported selenium resin. The advantages of these methods include straightforward operation, lack of odor, good stability, and high purity of the products.

Abstract:A convenient and effective method of palladium‐catalyzed C–H selenylation of the 2‐aryl acetamides assisted with removable 8‐aminoquinoline with readily available diselenides and selenyl chlorides has been developed. This selenylation reaction is scalable and tolerates a wide range of functional groups, providing a straightforward way of the preparing unsymmetrical diaryl selenides and dibenzoselenepinone. Preliminary mechanistic studies indicated that a single‐electron transfer type mechanism and facile C–H metalation are operative.

Abstract:Polystyrene-supported selenomethyl-phosphonate and polystyrene-supported selenomethyl-sulfonates have been prepared. These novel reagents were treated with LDA (or n-BuLi) to produce polystyrene-supported α-seleno carbanions, which reacted with alkyl halides, followed by stereospecific selenoxide syn-elimination to give E-vinylphosphonates and E-vinylsulfones respectively. And also these novel polymer reagents can be regenerated and reused.

Abstract:A metal-free Meerwein-type arylation protocol of α,β-unsaturated compounds is reported. 4-Aryl-3-selenocyanatobutan-2-ones, methyl 3-aryl-2-selenocyanatopropanoates, 3-aryl-2-selenocyanatopropanenitriles, and 1-aryl-2-phenyl-2-selenocyanatoethanes were prepared by a selenocyanatoarylation reaction from easily available arenediazonium tetrafluoroborates, potassium selenocyanate, and methyl vinyl ketone, methyl acrylate, acrylonitrile, or styrene, respectively, in 39–84% yields. The reaction proceeds smoothly and quickly under mild reaction conditions. The reaction can be scaled to the gram scale. A mechanism for this reaction is proposed. Abstract:By employing elemental selenium as the selenium source, we have realized the amidine-directed Rh(III)-catalyzed cascade C-H selenylation/[5 + 1] annulation for the direct construction of structurally novel selenadiazine, benzoselenadiazine, and benzoselenazol-3-amine frameworks with specific site selectivity and good functional group tolerance. Besides, the obtained products can serve as fundamental platforms for subsequent chemical transformations, and thus, the feasible SeNEx reaction, SeNEx/Michael addition, and simple conversion of the selenadiazine product into diverse other organoselenium molecules were demonstrated accordingly. Taken together, the developed methodology efficiently expands the chemical space of organoselenium species.
