Abstract:(Z)-1-Chloro-1-seleno-1-enes have been synthesized regio- and stereoselectively by the reaction of lithium chloride in HOAc with acetylenic selenides. In the presence of 5% mmol of PdCl2(PhCN)(2) and 10% mmol of CuI, (Z)-1-chloro-1-seleno-1-enes coupled with terminal acetylene rapidly to give selenoenynes in high yields.

Abstract:Diaryl diselenides and diaryl ditellurides are commonly employed as selenyl or telluryl sources, and they have a wide range of applications in organic synthesis. Herein, various diaryl diselenides/ditellurides are furnished in moderate to excellent yields under metal-free conditions. This method features high efficiency, good functional group tolerance, straightforward operation, and easy scale-up (running in 4 mmol-scale for most cases). Mechanistic studies indicate that this reaction may proceed via a radical pathway. Significantly, the correct matching of Br – and dimethyl sulfoxide under an air atmosphere is critical to this transformation. Abstract:Herein, we describe an electrochemical method for the synthesis of haloalkenyl chalcogenides from internal alkynes using hydrobromic and hydrochloric acids as halogenating agents, with the sole byproduct being hydrogen gas. This e-halochalcogenation protocol generates electrophilic chalcogenium species under mild conditions in a simple, undivided cell setup, enabling the synthesis of 25 examples of chloro- and bromovinyl selenides and sulfides with yields ranging from 10 % to 94 %, predominantly as the E-isomer. The synthetic utility of the halovinyl chalcogenides was demonstrated through various transformations, yielding densely functionalized tetra-substituted olefins. This underscores the versatility and efficiency of our method in assembling intricate molecular frameworks.
