Sensitivity Calculating Analysis and Configuration Scheme for Generator-Transformer Differential Protection

Abstract:A generator-transformer differential protection using TA at the low voltage side of the auxiliary transformer is designed according to the four principles usually, but the sensitivity of the differential protection can not meet the requirement when the fault occurs at the Low TA internal of the protection scope. Many power plants rebuild the decoking equipment, the generator-transformer differential protection need to be modified at the same time. The conditions for generator-transformer differential protection using the TA at the low voltage side of the auxiliary transformer are analyzed, and the sensitivity of the differential protection for a power plant is calculated using the above formula conditions. It is not reasonable for the generator-transformer protection to use TA at the low voltage side of the auxiliary transformer, and the protection should be deleted is concluded.
