Abstract:LED is called the fourth generation of lighting, which has already been widely used in display and illumination devices. The junction temperature has directly influence upon the life time and reliability of high-power LED, so keeping the junction temperature of LED is a key issue. A method researching radiators based on finite element analysis was introduced. In this paper, the heat performance of LED COB (chip on board) packaging was studied. The radiating model of LED street lamp with a radiator was introduced, and simulated the changing of parameters of radiator by ANSYS.

Abstract:This paper introduces a novel ballast for Metal Halide Lamp (MHL) which is controlled by digital control strategy.It consists of power factor correction circuit ,Buck converter and inverter. Constant current and constant power strategies are used in ballast based on C504 .The transfer functions and design steps of system are demonstrated ,and PI regulator is used for its good dynamic and static performance .This control algorithm is realized by look-up table for its high efficiency. The experimental result demonstrates the prototype has good dynamic and static performance,higher efficiency(92%),higher power factor(0.997),and low THD(5.6%)

Abstract:This paper describes the operation principle, effects of design parameters and critical design issues related to igniters used for the ignition of metal halide lamps. Mathematical modeling for the circuit is also given. The relationship between the width and peak value of igniter pulse and the circuit parameter is deduced. Experiments have been carried out to verify the theoretical analysis.

Abstract:Nowadays efficient concepts have had deep effects in industrial design,as the pioneer of energysaving,fluorescent lamp lighting played an irreplaceable role.But complexity of fluorescent lamp electric circuit design,difficulty of the key parameters choosing,the differentia between theoretical results and physical test make fluorescent lamp circuit design difficult.The paper gives a start-circuit model based on the fluorescent lamp characteristics,the calculation of the key components' parameters and operating point frequency in theory.With a normal T8 fluorescent lamp through the experiment which used the given model in electronic ballast design,the theoretical model is proved to be correct and practical.

Abstract:As a new_fashioned solid state lighting source,LED has many unique advantages such as nearly no pollution of the product and in the production process;resistance to vibration;easily dimmering from 0 to 100%;operating under safe extra low voltage;continuously operating under the condition of switch_off;having a fixed direction of the light output etc.In recent years,LED's obvious improvement of luminous efficacy and photometric characteristic let it be applied for commercial purpose.But for the influence of our country's plan_economics industry arrangement and for the lack of the popularization of LED professional knowledge and comprehensive knowledge of lighting equipments in the professional personnel,LED is not appropriately applied in practical design and application according to its characteristics and there appear many unreasonable and unqualified application products.This passage analyzes the problems occurring in LED's application in the luminaries for road and street lighting and also put forward some ideas and examples for solving the problems,as reference to professional colleagues.

Abstract:An optimization method is proposed for designing an LED freeform lens which produces a uniform circular pattern with high energy efficiency. The results of design examples show that the irradiance distribution is well controlled with excellent uniformity and energy efficiency. This optimization method can be generalized to design freeform lenses with different lighting patterns or without rotational symmetry.

Abstract:With the progress of LED technology,heat dissipating becomes the key barrier which restrict development of LED luminaire for road lighting.This paper first introduces the influence of temperature rise on the performance of white LED.On the base of analyzing the structure of LED road light and heat transfering theory,we build a thermal model of LED road light.According to two popular heat managing modes,we choose several samples separately to test their steady junction temperature.By analyzing the result and combining the thermal model,we research on the main factors affecting heat dissipating efficiency of luminaire and bring forward some guidance to the heat sink design of LED road light.
Design and Discussion of White LEDs' Application on Tunnel Lighting(Ⅱ)

Abstract:As a new solid state light source, white LEDs have been gradually used for road lighting and tunnel lighting. When making design of tunnel lighting, many factors, like illuminance, uniformity, flicker frequency, and different lighting requirements of different tunnel areas, should be considered. Due to the luminance difference in and out of the tunnel, and also bright and dark adaptation problem, adaptable lighting design is in demand. In this article, the author made different designs for day and night tunnel lighting. With the help of DIALux, a tunnel model was built, and good lighting design was achieved. Considering of mesopic vision effect, lighting in the interior part of the tunnel was corrected. The results show that good effects can be achieved in tunnel lighting by using white LEDs.
Luminaries-level Structure Improvement of LEDs for Heat Dissipation Enhancement under Natural Convection

Abstract:Heat dissipation enhancement of LED luminaries is of great significance to the large-scale application of LED. Luminaries-level structure improvement by the method of boring through-hole is adopted to intensify heat dissipation. Furthermore, the natural convection heat transfer process of LED luminaries is simulated by computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model before and after the structural modification. As shown by computational results, boring through-hole is beneficial to develop bottom-to-top natural convection, eliminate local circumfluence, and finally form better flow pattern. Analysis based on field synergy principle shows that boring through-hole across LED luminaries improves the synergy between flow field and temperature field, and effectively decreases the thermal resistance of luminaries-level heat dissipation structure. Under the same computational conditions, by luminaries-level structure improvement the highest temperature of heat sink is decreased by about 8°C and the average heat transfer coefficient is increased by 45.8%.

Abstract:In the field of high-power lighting, High Intensity Discharge (HID), with the representative of HPSL (high pressure sodium lamp) and metal halide, remains a main choice. Inverter circuit plays an important role in the design of high-power electronic ballast. A novel topology of LCLC resonant inverter circuit was proposed in order to solve the issue of efficiency lifting. By setting the switching frequency and parameters, the goal of ZCS could be achieved approximately, while under the condition of ZVS. The experimental results and ways of passive parameters design were presented finally.

Abstract:Mercury free flat fluorescent lamp(FFL) has a cheerful prospect in many areas,such as backlight for LCD and lighting since it is environmental,long life and has a short response time.Traditionally,the driving power supply of FFL including two or more stage,in this paper,a switching power supply driving circuit with single stage,which can drive the FFL efficiently,was proposed and analyzed.Finally a circuit prototype was build and efficiency was compared with the traditional one;it shows the designed circuit can improve the luminous efficiency of FFL with higher converter efficiency and lower costs.

Abstract:With the background park lighting application, and based on the characteristics of advanced devices in the system, this paper studies the photovoltaic (PV) light emitted diode (LED) lighting system in three main aspects, which are the design of the whole system, hybrid control strategy combining the maximum power point tracing (MPPT, for PV panels) with the energy management(for battery), and LED driving and dimming. Taking the example of an actual 50W high luminous efficacy LED system, the design, implantation and experiments are described in detail. In addition, the long-term measurement results in real environment are illustrated in this paper.
