Abstract:Aiming at technical problems in operation, maintenance and overhaul of large gas-steam combined cycle generating units, this paper summarizes research status and analyzes current research focus from four aspects, namely vibration fault in single-shaft gas turbine and steam turbine rotor system, quick start method of combined cycle steam turbine, maintenance and overhaul strategy of thermal parts in gas turbine, optimiza-tion technology of IGV control and temperature control line in gas turbine. Meanwhile, the paper points out major problems and puts forward further investigation direction.

Abstract:Pumped storage power station is an economic and reliable means of peak load regulation for power networks. The temperature and humidity control are complicated due to the huge amount of heat and moisture emission in the main power plant. This paper investigates the operating condition of three different ventilation cases in a five-storey underground pumped storage power station. A full-scale model of the main plant was built for numerical simulation. Three ventilation cases were studied by changing the number, area and layout of air supply vents at the top of the main plant. The airflow distribution of three cases in summer condition were calculated and an optimal ventilation case was determined by comparing the jet flow range and temperature in the working zone. The working condition in winter was also simulated and verified in order to ensure the reliability of the ventilation case. Results show that case 1 was determined as a reasonable air supply case. In this paper, a reasonable scheme of ventilation system was proposed in a underground pumped storage power station. The results would be helpful to optimize the air ventilation mode in underground powerhouse of pumped storage power station.

Abstract:An essential component for optimizing and safeguarding the operation of high power electronic equipment such as FACTS and HVDC is the cooling system.Pure-water cooling keeps vital PE components at the right temperature and prevents scaling.The operating experience of the water-cooling system of SVCs for the Lai Gang Group's 50t electric are furnace was introduced in the illustration of design parameters,operating principle,technical characteristics and actual operating situations of the full-closed circulating water-cooling system. The performance of the system proved that the full-closed circulating water-cooling system can provide a well heat-dissipating condition for the SVC.

Abstract:In this paper,the ventilation and cooling system of a 700 MW class turbine generator was described in detail,and the design features of the system were summarized.During site test of the generator,ventilation experiments were carried out.Pitot tubes were used to measure the pressures in frond of and behind the fan and the cooler,as well as in each inlet and outlet zones.The total flows and the static-pressure distributions in every zones of the generator were obtained.A comparative analysis showed the experimental results are in fairly good agreement with the design values,and the ventilation and cooling system can meet the requirements of long-time and safe operation of the turbo generator.

Abstract:In this study, an optimization strategy of mechanical ventilation was carried out to reduce frost heaving and heating power in a large cold storage operation. Then, a response surface method is used to determine influential factors and mechanisms of mechanical ventilation by using a standard pre-assembled cold storage system as a test case. Results show that the main factors affecting the soil surface temperature critical to frost-heaving prevention include the soil temperature, airflow speed, pipe diameter, and pipe spacing. For a case study, the spacing of the ventilation pipes has the most significant influence on the surface temperature of the soil layer. In contrast, the soil temperature at a depth of 3.2 m has a minor impact on the surface temperature. Especially for the design criteria that the soil surface temperature cannot be less than 2 °C, the diameter of the ventilation pipe should be greater than 0.28 m, the spacing of the ventilation pipe should be less than 1.01 m and the airflow speed should be greater than 2.09 m·s −1 .

Abstract:As industrial modernization surges forward, the heat treatment industry strives for lower pollution, reduced oxidation and defects, minimized waste, and automatization. This paper reviews the mechanisms, processes, equipment, and simulations of the vacuum gas quenching technology, presenting a comprehensive account of the structure and working principle of a typical vacuum gas quenching furnace. Firstly, the mechanism of the heat transfer process, flow process, and flow–heat transfer–phase transition coupling were summarized. Then, the influences of process parameters on the mechanical properties and distortion of vacuum gas quenched workpieces, as well as the process optimization methods, were discussed. Finally, the advantages of vacuum gas quenching in energy saving, low pollution, and high efficiency were introduced, with the future development directions figured out.

Abstract:Due to the urgent need for reducing carbon emissions, an increasing number of pumped storage power stations have been constructed and used considering its obvious advantages of energy saving. However, relevant design guidance and technical research failed to meet the development demand. There is only a small number of studies focusing on the prediction and evaluation of ventilation system in singlestory stations, however, little on the integral connected plant floors. Thus, it is significant to study safety operation technology of deep underground pumped storage power stations, especially in terms of thermal and humidity environment. A reduced-scale (1/30) model based on an engineering project was set up, and numerical simulations were carried out to study the temperature and velocity distribution in the large underground space under the summer design condition ( L=21.1×10 4m 3/s, T=19°C, Q=997KW). Results show that the temperature on the right side of the powerhouse is slightly higher than that on the left side, and the gap is approximately from 1°C to 4°C. Moreover, local overheating may occur in some places. The side air supply velocity and location should be paid more attention to in designing air distribution.

Abstract:Zhujixi coal mine is a typical large mine characterized with large mining depth, high ground temperature, large heat dissipation from electromechanical equipment and serious heat damage. This paper takes Zhujixi coal mine as an example and puts forward ground two-stage refrigeration, large temperature difference to supply cooling as well as the adoption of high-low pressure heat exchanger to overcome high hydrostatic pressure. Those solutions solve the problem of difficult heat removal in high temperature mine and of high hydrostatic pressure in large mining depth mine. In addition, it suggests applying domestic equipment to underground cooling from the point of economic benefits.

Abstract:Air-cooling systems and water-cooling systems of steam turbine differ much in their ends of exhaust,as a result that the method of back pressure control for ordinary water-cooling systems is not applicable to air-cooling systems.Therefore,the safety margin of back-pressure control is provided,based on which the fuzzy control approach is proposed for applying in direct air-cooled units.The back pressure of air cooled steam condenser is easy to be influenced by the local environmental temperature and the fans speed,so that a mathematical model is developed based on the traditional air-cooled units with off-design characteristics.It is verified by the simulation that the approach to a large extent can ensure the air-cooling system operating under most cost-efficient and safest conditions.

Abstract:The cold end system is an important auxiliary system of power generation unit of thermal power plant,and its working condition and operational characteristics influence on stability,safety and economical efficiency of the unit greatly.Taking the 300 MW unit of a power plant in Inner Mongolia as example,the influence of the back pressure variation on the unit economical efficiency under several typical conditions was analyzed.The influences of the working water temperature variation of the vacuum pump on the air inflow,the condenser pressure,the heat consumption rate and the coal consumption rate of the unit were analyzed emphatically.A reformation measure was adopted,in which an industrial water flow was added and used as cooling water.The test result shows that the result of the reformation is favorable,and the economical efficiency of the unit was improved obviously.

Abstract:ABSTRACT:The ventilation cooling system of large vertical hydro-generator is of great significance to its safe and stable operation, and it is very necessary to study on the flow field characteristics of the generator closed-circuit ventilation system. At present, due to the structural complexity of the stator ventilating ducts in generator, full port modeling simulation needs large amount of calculation, which brings certain difficulties to the numerical study on the full port flow field. This paper proposes a method to study the circulating flow field by modeling the minimal periodic unit, and adopts the multiple reference frame coordinates, as well as porous media model of cooler in CFX software during the numerical calculation. The calculation results show that air flow rate of ventilating ducts is small at the generator neutral position, so a method of increasing the cross-sectional area is recommended to improve the uniformity of the stator ventilation. The flow field of the section at yoke ventilating duct entrance presents certain inhomogeneity, which proves that it is not accurate to set boundary condition in the local modeling calculation. There is disadvantageous vortex in the flow field of the generator end. This paper further sets the transition arc plates at the generator end to achieve the results of disadvantageous vortex eliminated and the air flow rate increased by 15.3% compared with the original design. The research results can provide reference for the optimization design of the generator ventilation system.

Abstract:Forced cooling with hot air obliged passing through the steam path after shutdown has been widely adopted for the severe competition in the open market. For the sake of tiny convection coefficient compared with vapour, the security analyses have been neglected which leads the ambiguity of the potential advantages of forced cooling. Based on the three-dimensional axial-symmetrical thermal stress computation for the rotor of a 600 MW steam turbine produced by Shanghai Turbine Co, some problems such as modelling, initial conditions for calculation and optimal control of cooling process were discussed.

Abstract:Focusing on the key technique problems of super-large complex air separation equipment with low energy consumption which is a necessity of steel, petrochemical, and thermal power industry in China, several basic scientific questions are explored, "complex large-scale mixed flow interface gradient formation law driven by low energy consumption”,“super-large multi-set multivariable field coupling and decoupling principle", "key sets life balance design and stable operation theory with high reliability" etc. Six topics are set up centered on these three key scientific questions, interface formation laws of large-scale mixed flow and unsteady flow, dynamics nonlinear coupling mechanism of large equipment, multivariable and multi-set correlation design theory under complicated conditions, multi-sets synchronization stability and life balance principle, key sets high-strength component quality-ensured manufacturing, super-large complex air separation equipment performance test, simulation, and integration. The research of this project clarified the affection of super-large complex air separation equipment large-scale mixed flow to the mechanism of gas heat and mass transfer, revealed the poly-phase fluid unsteady flow alternating mechanism and energy migration law in equipment, illuminated dynamics nonlinear coupling mechanism of large equipment under complicated conditions, established the equipment inter-set multi-variable multi-parameter performance analysis and process design theory, uncovered air separation equipment key set and unit high reliability and long duration mechanism, proposed key set and unit large-scale structure life balance design and quality-ensured manufacturing method, thus providing the scientific basis for next generation air separation equipment theoretical breakthrough.

Abstract:No.1 condenser vacuum has been low since commissioning of projects in Guangzhou-Paper-Group,which seriously affects the safe and economic operation.This paper analyzed the main reasons causing vacuum low briefly,and presented transformation of circulating cooling water systems,leak detection,plug the holes,commissioning rubber ball cleaning devices,reducing the pool-water temperature and other energy-saving reform measures.The Comparison of the result before and after of a typical condenser retrofit showed that the retrofit has effectively enhanced the condenser vacuum,lowered unit heat rate,had a huge economic.Meantime,it has also been of significance to energy-saving type transformation of the domestic unit.

Abstract:Thermal power plants using air-cooling system increase project capital investment and operating costs compared to those using water-cooling system,so the optimal design of the air-cooling system is very important and can improve the overall economics of the air-cooling power plants.The optimal design method of direct air-cooling system was proposed based on minimizing the annual expenses.The selection of the design temperature,initial temperature difference(ITD),the air cooler tube type and air cooling fan,the calculation of heat transfer and air resistance were analyzed and discussed.The direct air-cooling system of one 600 MW thermal unit as the localization demonstration project was used as an example to illustrate the application of the optimal design method.The method has been applied to direct air-cooling system design of 36 300 MW and 600 MW domestic thermal units,and is incorporated into the relevant national design standards.
