Abstract:A novel broadband printed dipole antenna with low cross-polarization is presented. The printed dipole employs a double-layered structure where the E-field component perpendicular to the dipole arms is minimized, thus low cross-polarization is obtained. Measurement results show that the printed dipole antenna achieves a bandwidth up to 50% while reducing the cross-polarization level to less than -30 dB within the frequency band.

Abstract:A broadband dual-polarized four-port (DPFP) antenna is presented in this paper, which consists of a radiation element and a feed network. It is very compact in size, with the diameter of 150.0 mm and the height of 47.0 mm, with the following unique properties: (1) it has hybrid beam-forming capability and operates at two modes, which depends on its excitation; (2) its operating frequency range is from 0.96 to1.78 GHz, and the return loss is about 10 dB; (3) its insertion loss is (3 +/- 0.5) dB, with its balanced power splitting over the relative bandwidths of 37% at Mode 1 (180 degrees +/- 5 degrees phase shifting) and 55% at Mode 2 (+/- 5 degrees phase shifting), respectively; (4) an isolation of 30 dB at Mode 1 is obtained between the dual polarized ports, with the gain of 7.6 dBi and 42 degrees of the 3 dB-bandwidth at 1.25 GHz; and (5) the gain difference between Modes 1 and 2 is about 7 dB, within the angle of -15 degrees <= theta <= 15 degrees for the same polarization at 1.25 GHz. For the application of DPFP, a hybrid beam forming algorithm is proposed with an angular precision of 7 degrees and is validated by measurement.

Abstract:A novel broadband printed dipole antenna with low cross-polarization is proposed in this paper. The antenna employs a double-layered printed dipole with integrated balun structure, which retains the broadband characteristics while reducing the cross-polarization level. An S-band 16-element printed dipole array antenna is then formed, and the measured results indicate that the bandwidth of the array is up to 50%, while the cross-polarization level is less than -43 dB. Measurement results verified the broadband and low cross-polarization properties of the antenna array.

Abstract:A broadband cross-dipole with high isolation and low cross-polarisation for base station applications in mobile wireless communications is presented in this study. By skillfully utilising the strong mutual coupling between the two dipoles, very good impedance match, sufficiently high isolation and low cross-polarisation can be achieved simultaneously. The measured results show that a more than 54% impedance bandwidth for standing wave ratio (SWR) < 1.5 from 1.695 to 2.95 GHz is achieved, within which the isolation is larger than 35 dB and the cross-polarisation is less than -34 dB. As a desirable advantage, the input impedance of the antenna can be changed within certain limits by properly adjusting the configuration, thus the antenna can be fed directly by 50-omega coaxial cables without the aid of impedance transformers. Particularly, besides the designing and the optimising work, the mechanisms for high isolation and low cross-polarisation as well as the method to adjust the input impedance are also discussed from a new point of view, which are also appropriate for other cross-dipole with the similar patterns.
A novel dual choke slot dual-polarization array antenna with low sidelobe

Abstract:A novel dual-polarization array antenna with low sidelobe is designed. The element antennas use pyramid horns, which realize dual-polarization radiation by orthogonal feed probes in different layers, and solve the problem of wide beam with low sidelobe by using dual choke slot. In the design of array feed, Taylor weighting is realized by using air coaxial line network, and reversed-phase feeding technique is used to improve the performance such as polarization isolation and cross polarization. The measured results indicate that the return loss is less than -35 dB at 9.5 GHz±500 MHz, the sidelobe level is less than -26 dB in the Azimuth and elevation patterns, the polarization port isolation is less than -30 dB, and the cross polarization level is less than -35 dB. Abstract:A novel broadband dual-polarization antenna utilizing strong mutual coupling with high isolation is presented in this communication. The antenna is composed of two orthogonally situated dipoles which have square-loop shape arms (SLSAs). And to shape the radiation pattern of the antenna, a metal reflector is placed under the antenna. By elaborately utilizing the strong mutual coupling between the two dipoles, very good impedance match and sufficiently high isolation can be achieved simultaneously, the reasons for which are analyzed in this communication. Both the simulated and the measured results show that a more than 57.5% impedance bandwidth with SWR<1.5 and port-to-port isolation >31 dB can be achieved for the proposed antenna. As an important advantage, the input impedance of the antenna can be controlled within certain limits by adjusting the configurations, thus the antenna can be fed directly by coaxial cables without using impedance transformers. Besides, the antenna structure is compact and simple.
Analysis of a Novel Ka Horn Antenna with Low Cross-Polarization

Abstract:A Ka combined horn antenna with low cross-polarization is presented in this paper. The antenna consists of an edge-slotted waveguide linear array, a metallic-grid plane in the horn throat and a horn. The effects of metallic-grid and single-ridged waveguide to the cross-polarization are analyzed. Three kinds of 62-element Taylor linear array at Ka band are fabricated and measured and the measured cross-polarization level is less than -35dB in operating bandwidth. The proposed antennas are benefit for fabrication and fixation with low cross-polarization and can be extensively used in radar and communication systems.

Abstract:A novel antenna is proposed.Four circular disc monopoles are placed across each other.The improved antenna is not only favorable for satisfying ultrawide-band return loss requirement but also advantageous in realizing the wide beams and good circular polarization performance within the beams.Analyses are conducted to determine the novel antennas' properties.The return loss,radiation patterns,axial ratio,gain and the time domain performance of the antennas are discussed detailedly.The analytic results verify that the novel circular disc monopole ultrawide-band antenna has reliable ultrawide-band performance during realizing wide beam and circular polarization.The novel antenna proposed in this paper is suitable for the wireless,satellite and mobile communication systems with good prospects.

Abstract:An aperture coupled microstrip antenna array with low cross-polarization, low sidelobe and backlobe is presented in the paper. The low cross-polarization (-35.1 dB) and low back radiation are achieved by using aperture-coupled configuration with the reflector ground. A good match feed network design enables the good bandwidth and low sidelobe lever (-20.9dB).

Abstract:A dual-polarized dipole antenna with low cross-polarization and high isolation characteristics is presented. The proposed antenna is composed of three basic structures, i.e., a horizontal rectangular ground plate, four vertical plates with two rectangular patches on each of them, and a horizontal substrate with eight triangle patches. Every two vertical plates are put back-to-back which forms a double-layered structure. Thus the transverse E-field of the double-layered structure is significantly reduced because of this symmetric treatment, which gives rise to very low cross-polarization. Then the two double-layered structures are orthogonally arranged, generating dual polarizations. Simulated and measured results show that the proposed antenna realizes an impedance bandwidth of 47% (VSWR< 1.5), ranging from 1.8 to 2.9 GHz. The isolation between the two orthometric ports is higher than 30 dB across the bandwidth. Furthermore, the cross-polarization is -35 dB over the bandwidth. This antenna has the advantages of high isolation, low cross-polarization, and wide bandwidth. (C) 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Abstract:This paper proposes a uniplanar quasi-yagi antenna with the coplanar waveguide feedline. A novel driver dipole is proposed to expand the working frequency band of the antenna. Due to the unique driver dipole, the proposed quasi-yagi antenna can work from 3.75-10.4 GHz with low cross polarization performance at the same time. To verify the design, a prototype antenna is fabricated. The experimental results are in accordance with the simulation results very well.

Abstract:A novel broadband dual-polarization antenna composed of two orthogonal dipoles with high isolation is presented in this paper. Due to properly utilizing the strong regional mutual coupling between the two dipoles, a very good impedance matching and a sufficiently high isolation can be achieved simultaneously, the reasons for which will be explained at the conference. The measured results show that it has a 53.7% impedance bandwidth of 1.65GHz-2.86GHz with VSWR < 1.5 and isolation < 32dB. As an important advantage, the input impedance of the antenna can be well controlled within certain limits by adjusting the configuration, thus the antenna can be fed directly by coaxial cables without using impedance transformers or other feeding circuits. Besides, it has a simple and compact configuration.

Abstract:This paper presents a design to realize extremely low cross‐polarization level in multibeam antenna. The antenna consists of two reflectors placed on top of each other. The front reflector is a panel made of metal grid, which is used to separate two orthogonal polarizations. The rear reflector serves as the actual multibeam antenna surface. The multibeam antenna and feed array operated at Ku band are designed and fabricated. The test results show that the gains of the 28 beams can be better than 40.42 dBi, and the cross‐polarization level can be lower than −40 dB. The proposed method provides a novel idea for the design of ultralow cross‐polarization multibeam antenna.
