Abstract:Real time information on process parameters such as residence time distribution (RTD) is essential for diagnosis and control of continuous processes. In the present paper, an improved apparatus for inline measurement of RTD of thermomechanically complex systems was developed. The apparatus possessed many important advantages over those reported in the literatures. A reference detector was added to the system to improve the resistance of the latter to both external and internal disturbances, and it had two light paths instead of one. Meanwhile, a special optical fibre probe with pressure and heat resistance was designed to obtain operating data under high pressure and high temperature circumstance. As an important use of the improved apparatus, the local residence volume distributions of turbine mixing elements were investigated under various operating conditions such as feedrate and screw speed, on the basis of inline measurement of partial RTDs. The working principle of this apparatus is expected to be suitable for various types of process equipments and chemical systems including thermomechanically complex systems.
Intelligent Measuring System for Performance Parameters of Laser Range Finder

Abstract:In order to measure the performance parameters of laser range finders, a new intelligent measuring system is developed, which introduces advanced control technologies, very quick and convenient WIN32 computer software and a skillfully designed beam splitter system. It can synchronously measure optical axis consistency, width and energy of the pulse, beam divergence angle, and so on. A 1296×1030 CCD is adopted in order to ensure 10″ of spatial resolving ability; A 350MHz oscilloscope is used to catch the laser pulse as narrow as 10ns; A laser power meter which has high accuracy and large dynamic scope is used to obtain accurate energy measurement of the laser pulse. The system has been checked and accepted, and all the performance parameters meet the design demands. Now it is used by user and operates very well.

Abstract:Ion trap mass spectrometer is one of the most widely used miniature mass spectrometer in recent years. In this paper, an ion trap mass spectrometer which combines the technology of digital Ion trap with the rectilinear ion trap (RIT) was studied. This new mass spectrometry system has the advantages of rectilinear 1011 trap and the digital electronic technology. On one hand, it has high ion storage efficiency, simple structure and constructional convenience as a RIT. On the other hand, it is easy to control precisely and work steadily which takes advantage of digital electronic technology. It will greatly improve the performance of the RIT mass analyzer, and simplify the manufacture of ion trap mass spectrometry. A home-made digital rectilinear ion trap mass spectrometer coupled with an electrospray ion source(ESI) was built, and Fenfluramine and PPG2000 were used to test its property including mass resolution and mass range. The preliminary experiment showed that a mass resolution in excess of 500 and a mass range of over 2600 Thomson were obtained, using a digital trapping voltage of only 200 V (zero-to-peak). The experiment results also showed great improvements on the performance of the RIT, especially on the enhancement of the mass range, which brought by the digital electronic technology.
A New Particle Sensor Based on True RMS Value Measurement.

Abstract:Direct-reading instruments which can provide real-time PM2.5 measurements are widely used because they are cheap and easy to use. However, these direct-reading instruments suffer from zero drift problems and have to be calibrated before use. Direct-reading instruments based on average value measurement can't give a correct assessment of PM2.5 mass concentrations when particles' diameter changes greatly. In this paper, a new particle sensor based on true RMS value measurement is designed. Three photodiodes are installed in the sensor at different scattering angles. The advantages of true RMS value measurement method are demonstrated from theory consideration. Field experiments have shown that: (1)PM2.5 mass concentrations based on true RMS value measurement are better than based on average value measurement, (2)PM2.5 mass concentrations got from different scattering angles are highly correlated, (3)this new particle sensor can achieve reasonable accuracy for running more than 120 hours.

Abstract:A device is described which, attached to a quadrupole mass spectrometer, permits the selection of any two mass peaks and the measurement of the abundance ratio of the selected masses. The principle of operation of the ratiometer is to focus alternately the two masses onto the collector by applying a periodic square wave voltage to the input of the rf/dc generator. The resulting signals are fed into two channels and converted into two direct voltages. The ratio of these voltages, which are proportional to the two ion peaks, is then measured and displayed by a digital ratiometer.

Abstract:The design of a new type of GM Tube radiation detector was introduced. The detector was designed according to the principle of Time - to - Count method. The hardware structure and program flow design of the radiation detector were presented. The test results showed that the linearity of Time -to - Count method is better than pulse counting method. Besides,the range upper limit based on Time -to - Count method extended two orders of magnitudes compared with the traditional pulse counting method.

Abstract:Radiation monitoring system is very important to the safe operation of the nuclear power plant. The radiation monitor, including the on-line type and the off-line type, can provide the radioactive level for a given system, certain areas, or unique substance promptly. However, as a supplementary method, the sampling measurement can supply more accurate information about the source term. In this paper, we present the design of the sampling measurement in the nuclear island of HTR-PM. The sampling measurement contains the helium sampling from the primary coolant, the radioactive dust sampling from the primary loop, the liquid sampling from the tritiated water and some process systems, the gas sampling from certain areas, etc. The frequency of the sampling measurement depends on regulatory requirements and actual operational demands. The control values of the samples are settled on the basis of the source term analysis and regulatory requirements. The radiochemistry lab has been designed to meet the requirement of the sampling measurement, in which the main instruments include a Nal gamma spectrometer, two high-purity germanium gamma spectrometers, a four-channel ultralow background alpha/beta analyzer, and a low background liquid scintillation counter. The characteristics of these instruments will be described in details in the paper.

Abstract:Frequency is a fundamental parameter in the field of Electronic technology. As a basic measuring instrument, the digital frequency meter is extensively applied for its features such as high precision, fast speed, digital display. This paper describes a very simple and data transmittable design of a Digital Frequency Meter using a PIC microcontroller with some simple functions. This digital frequency meter has a range of frequency measurement from 1Hz to 100kHz and a resolution of 1hz and accuracy less than 0.5%. Digital Frequency Meter measures the frequency and displays its data on 1602 LCD screen with a unit in thousands(kHz); the usage of microcontroller enables it to toggle measuring mode, pause the data display and transmit data to other microcontrollers for extra uses.

Design on DC Digital Voltage Meter Based on C Language

Abstract:Aiming at the shortcomings of traditional digital voltage meter such as complex structure, high cost, short service life and difficult upgrade, a digital voltage meter is proposed, which is based on C language and uses P89V51 single chip microcomputer as control core. The hardware circuit uses dual integrating A/D converter; the power supply circuit is handled by steady voltage chip LM7805 and LM7905; the voltage load ranges from +5 V to-5 V; the digital signal processing adopts CD4052 B, and the automatic range conversion circuit is constituted by LM324. The control function is implemented by C language programming. The measurement range is from 10 mV to 2 V, the resolution ratio is 1 mV(2V gear); the measurement error is less than ±0.5 V; the input resistance is greater than 1 MΩ.The experimental results show that the voltage meter can restrain the power interference, has high measurement accuracy and such advantages as automatic zero, automatic range switching and automatic upgrade.

Abstract:A research on digital nuclear power measurement equipment is discussed in this paper. In the research, some mainstream microprocessor technologies are compared and an embedded PC microprocessor system based on PC/104 bus is selected as the equipment development platform, which makes the equipment have all advantages of compact structure, high reliability, convenient adjustment and short development cycle. A concept design on the nuclear power measurement equipment is covered in this paper, and a prototype of the equipment with all expected functions is developed.

Abstract:This article presents the readout electronics of a novel beam monitoring system for ion research facility accelerator. The readout electronics are divided into Front-end Card (FEC) and Readout Control Unit (RCU). FEC uses Topmetal II minus to processes the energy of the hitting particles and convert it into a voltage signal. The main function of RCU is to digitize the analog output signal of FEC and format the raw data. On the other hand, the RCU also processes the control commands from the host and distributes the commands according to the mapping. The readout electronic has been characterized and calibrated in the laboratory, and have been installed with the detector. Implementation and testing of readout electronics have been discussed.

Abstract:Beam measurement is very important for accelerators. With the development of analog-to-digital conversion techniques, digital beam measurement becomes a research hot spot. IQ (In-phase & Quadrature-phase) analysis based method is an important beam measurement approach, the principle of which is presented and discussed in this paper. The State Key Laboratory of Particle Detection and Electronics in University of Science and Technology of China has devoted efforts to the research of digital beam measurement based on high-speed high-resolution analog-to-digital conversion, and a series of beam measurement instruments were designed for China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS), Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility (SSRF), and Accelerator Driven Sub-critical system (ADS).

Abstract:In order to further improve the performance specifications of ratiometric digital capacitive angular sensor,a precision calibration system has been developed here,which selects a raster angular sensor with high accuracy as its core standard unit and controls the operations by a computer automatically.The test results show that the basic error,linearity of the capacitive angular sensor can be more effectively improved than before.The average of the former decreases from 2% to 0.2%,and the later from 0.58% to 0.22%.The standard uncertainty of capacitive sensor is only 0.2%.

Abstract:To test and calibrate various detectors in nuclear and high energy physics experiments, a general purposed calibration instrument has been developed. All information including timing, amplitude and charge of signals can be directly obtained to calibrate detector with this instrument by amplifying and digitizing the signal waveform. The system consists of two parts, a large dynamic range pre-amplifier module and a high speed and high-resolution digitization module. The pre-amplifier module based on programmable gain amplifier and attenuator achieves gain from -26.2 dB to 24.4 dB, making it suitable to adapt to different detectors. Taking advantage of high speed and high-resolution analog-to-digit converter (ADC), the waveform digitization module samples the signal after conditioning with 12 bits resolution and up to 3.6 giga hertz samples per second (GSPS). To evaluate the feature of this instrument, an electronics testbench platform was installed and test results showed a bandwidth from direct current (DC) to 450 MHz and the effective number of bits (ENOB) is above 7 bits in high gain set and 5.8 bits in low gain set in the bandwidth range, which indicated that it had broad application prospect in detector calibration.

Abstract:A microcomputer controlling gas flow velocity measuring system based on the detection of the gas ionized by �� rays is presented. A detector with the ion collecting plate parallel to the radioactive rays has proven effective in the collection of ions. The ion cloud outline modulated by a step motor has been described with its size calculation formula presented; the basic control relation for the main parameters to maintain high measuring precision has been proposed; the necessary voltage needed for the effective collection of the ions has been derived. It is due to the configuration of the detecting plates that the precision of this ion detection gas flow device is around 2% and is reliably resistant to dust and moisture after several days operation in laboratory. The timing error caused by amplitude fluctuation is diminished by the peak searching signal processing method utilized.

Abstract:Ultra low current measurement technique is very important for the signal readout of some radiation detectors, especially the ionization chambers which are widely used to monitor the γ-ray background inside and around the radiation field. We have designed an ultra low current digitizer with large dynamic range, which has been built into a γ-ray monitor together with an ionization chamber. Test results show the γ-ray monitor has low temperature dependence and good stability and can work well in outdoor environment.
