Abstract:We study the limit behaviour of solutions of a class of solutions of nonlinear parabolic equations with a degenerate strong absorption. We prove that two types of phenomena can occur: the pointwise singularity or the formation of razor blades (or persistent singularities).

Abstract:We consider the Cauchy problem for the semilinear wave equation. The Cauchy data are assumed to be conormal with respect to a point, and the source term is polynomial with respect to the solution and its first derivatives. Thanks to the study of multiplicative properties of some refined hyperbolic conormal spaces, we improve the known results about the nonlinear type singularities of the solution. Abstract:This paper deals with a class of singular boundary value problems of differential equations on infinite time scale. An existence theorem of positive solutions is established by using the Schauder fixed point theorem and perturbation and operator approximation method, which resolves the singularity successfully and differs from those of some papers. In the end of the paper, an example is given to illustrate our main result.

Different from the nonsingular case, the result in this paper shows that both of the periodic and the antiperiodic eigenvalues play the same role in such an existence result. Abstract:We study positive solutions of an equation with singular nonlinearities. The equation arises in the study of equilibrium states of thin films. Under weak assumptions on the nonlinearity, we show that for N >= 3 there exists a family of radial solutions {u(alpha)}(alpha>0) with u(alpha)(0) = alpha and each of them is oscillatory in ( 0, infinity). We obtain then a singular radial solution in ( 0, infinity) by taking the limit alpha --> 0. Meanwhile, using the solutions obtained in ( 0, infinity), we show some existence results for the corresponding Neumann eigenvalue problem on a ball.

Abstract:The existence of multiple positive solutions of systems of singular Hammerstein integral equations is studied, where the nonlinearities involved are allowed to have singularities in their second variables and satisfy weaker conditions involving the first eigenvalues of the corresponding linear Hammerstein integral operators. Such systems contain some mathematical models arising in science and engineering. Applications are given to the existence of multiple positive radial solutions of systems of semilinear singular elliptic equations in annuli on which, to the best of our knowledge, there has been little study.

Abstract:By introducing a new classification of the growth rate of exponential functions, singular solutions for semilinear elliptic equations in 2-dimensions with exponential nonlinearities are constructed. The strategy is to introduce a model nonlinearity which admits an explicit singular solution. Then, using a transformation as in [8], one obtains an approximate singular solution, and then one concludes by a suitable fixed point argument. Our method covers a wide class of nonlinearities in a unified way. As a special case, our result contains a pioneering contribution by Ibrahim--Kikuchi--Nakanishi--Wei [15] for the Moser--Trudinger type nonlinearity.
