The existence and uniqueness result is proved in the framework of entropy solutions. For the long-time behavior, we prove the existence of a global attractor in <math>Lq(Ω)</math> by using some delicate estimates on the solution, which are derived by taking advantage of both the leading operator and the zero-order nonlinear term. The aforementioned results improve some previous results in the literature in several aspects.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the existence of bounded solutions for a nonlinear anisotropic parabolic equation with degenerate coercivity and a singular term on the right-hand side. The model problem considered is as follows where is a bounded open subset of , , \(2\le p_{i} for every , , with ( defined in ( 2.1 )) and . The main idea in the proof is based on Stampacchia's lemma, which allows us to obtain a priori estimates by making a suitable choice of a test function.

In view of some practical applications, we assume that A and B are subdifferentials. Abstract:We investigate a non-homogeneous nonlinear heat equation which involves degenerate or singular coefficients belonging to the $A_2$ class of functions. We prove the existence of a Fujita exponent and describe the dichotomy existence/non-existence of global in time solutions. The $A_2$ coefficient admits either a singularity at the origin or a line of singularities. In this latter case, the problem is related to the fractional laplacian, through the Caffarelli-Silvestre extension and is a first attempt to develop a parabolic theory in this setting.

Abstract:We study a general class of fully nonlinear boundary-degenerate elliptic equations that admit a trivial solution. Although no boundary conditions are posed together with the equations, we show that the operator degeneracy actually generates an implicit boundary condition. Under appropriate assumptions on the degeneracy rate and regularity of the operator, we then prove that there exist no bounded solutions other than the trivial one. Our method is based on the arguments for uniqueness of viscosity solutions to state constraint problems for Hamilton-Jacobi equations. We obtain similar results for fully nonlinear degenerate parabolic equations. Several concrete examples of the equations that satisfy the assumptions are also given.

Abstract:We introduce a new method which resolves the problem of regularity and compactness of entropy solutions for nonlinear degenerate parabolic equations under non-degeneracy conditions on the sphere. In particular, we address a problem of regularity of entropy solutions to homogeneous (autonomous) degenerate parabolic PDEs and existence of weak solutions to heterogeneous degenerate parabolic PDEs (non-autonomous PDEs -- with flux and diffusion explicitly depending on the space and time variables). The method of proof is reduction of the equation to a specific kinetic formulation involving two transport equations, one of the second and one of the first order. In the heterogeneous situation, this enables us to use (variants of) the H-measures to get velocity averaging lemmas and then, consequently, existence of a weak solution. In the homogeneous case, the kinetic reformulation makes it possible to get necessary estimates of the solution on the Littlewood-Paley dyadic blocks of the dual space.

Abstract:In this paper, we deal with the existence of nontrivial nonnegative solutions for a $(p, N)$-Laplacian Schr{ö}dinger-Kirchhoff problem in $\mathbb{R}^N$ with singular exponential nonlinearity. The main features of the paper are the $(p, N)$ growth of the elliptic operators, the double lack of compactness, and the fact that the Kirchhoff function is of degenerate type. To establish the existence results, we use the mountain pass theorem, the Ekeland variational principle, the singular Trudinger-Moser inequality, and a completely new Brézis-Lieb type lemma for singular exponential nonlinearity.

Abstract:Summary. In this work we propose a numerical approach to solve some kind of degenerate parabolic equations. The underlying idea is based on the maximum principle. More precisely, we locally perturb the (initial and boundary) data instead of the nonlinear diffusion coefficients, so that the resulting problem is not degenerate. The efficiency of this method is shown analytically as well as numerically. The numerical experiments show that this new approach is comparable with the existing ones.

Abstract:The purpose of this paper is to investigate the well-posedness of several linear and nonlinear equations with a parabolic forward-backward structure, and to highlight the similarities and differences between them. The epitomal linear example will be the stationary Kolmogorov equation $y\partial_x u -\partial_{yy} u=f$ in a rectangle. We first prove that this equation admits a finite number of singular solutions, of which we provide an explicit construction. Hence, the solutions to the Kolmogorov equation associated with a smooth source term are regular if and only if $f$ satisfies a finite number of orthogonality conditions. This is similar to well-known phenomena in elliptic problems in polygonal domains. We then extend this theory to a Vlasov--Poisson--Fokker--Planck system, and to two quasilinear equations: the Burgers type equation $u \partial_x u - \partial_{yy} u = f$ in the vicinity of the linear shear flow, and the Prandtl system in the vicinity of a recirculating solution, close to the line where the horizontal velocity changes sign. We therefore revisit part of a recent work by Iyer and Masmoudi. For the two latter quasilinear equations, we introduce a geometric change of variables which simplifies the analysis. In these new variables, the linear differential operator is very close to the Kolmogorov operator $y\partial_x -\partial_{yy}$. Stepping on the linear theory, we prove existence and uniqueness of regular solutions for data within a manifold of finite codimension, corresponding to some nonlinear orthogonality conditions.

Abstract:This paper reports results on the existence and characterization of nonnegative stationary solutions (including the weak sense) of a spatial one-dimensional degenerate parabolic equations. The characterization of stationary solutions given in this paper refers to the enumeration of those that exist and the presentation of solution information such as the profile and asymptotic behavior of each of them. Due to the influence of terms derived from the degeneracy of the equations, it is not easy to classify and characterize the existence of stationary solutions of the equations considered in this paper. These results are obtained by using dynamical systems theory and geometric approaches (in particular, Poincaré compactification). In addition, an application of the results obtained in this paper is given. The results of the characterization of nonnegative weak stationary solutions of the spatial one-dimensional porous medium equation with special nonlinear terms are shown. These can be obtained by carefully using transformations known from previous studies.

Abstract:We investigate the regularity of the solutions for a class of degenerate/singular fully nonlinear nonlocal equations. In the degenerate scenario, we establish that there exists at least one viscosity solution of class C l o c 1 , α , for some constant α ∈ ( 0 , 1 ) . In addition, under suitable conditions on degree of the operator σ, we prove regularity estimates in Hölder spaces for any viscosity solution. We also examine the singular setting and prove Hölder regularity estimates for the gradient of the solutions.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the following singular quasilinear equation, where , $0<\beta <n$ , and f has critical exponential growth at infinity. We establish a compactness lemma for functional and develop some delicate analyses to deal with non-standard difficulties caused by singular term and the compactness issue. We introduce some natural assumptions on the nonlinearity f and obtain the existence of Mountain-pass type solution and ground state solution for above equation.
