Abstract:We investigate a non-homogeneous nonlinear heat equation which involves degenerate or singular coefficients belonging to the $A_2$ class of functions. We prove the existence of a Fujita exponent and describe the dichotomy existence/non-existence of global in time solutions. The $A_2$ coefficient admits either a singularity at the origin or a line of singularities. In this latter case, the problem is related to the fractional laplacian, through the Caffarelli-Silvestre extension and is a first attempt to develop a parabolic theory in this setting.

Abstract:We prove the existence of a critical Fujita exponent for a non-homogeneous semilinear heat equation which involves degenerate coefficients. More precisely, in order to give a rather complete theory, we focus on two types of weights $w(x)=|x_1|^a$ or $w(x)=|x|^b$ where $a, b>0$ in a suitable range. The coefficients under consideration admit either a singularity at the origin or a line of singularities. In the latter case, the problem is related to the fractional Laplacian.

Abstract:The following semi-linear elliptic equations involving Hardy–Sobolev critical exponents −Δu−μux2=u2*s−2xsu+g(x,u),x∈Ω∖0,u=0,x∈∂Ω have been investigated, where Ω is an open-bounded domain in RNN≥3, with a smooth boundary ∂Ω, 0∈Ω,0≤μ<μ ̄:=N−222,0≤s<2, and 2*s=2N−s/N−2 is the Hardy–Sobolev critical exponent. This problem comes from the study of standing waves in the anisotropic Schrödinger equation; it is very important in the fields of hydrodynamics, glaciology, quantum field theory, and statistical mechanics. Under some deterministic conditions on g, by a detailed estimation of the extremum function and using mountain pass lemma with PSc conditions, we obtained that: (a) If μ≤μ ̄−1, and λ<λ1μ, then the above problem has at least a positive solution in H01Ω; (b) If μ ̄−1<μ<μ ̄,then when λ*μ<λ<λ1μ, the above problem has at least a positive solution in H01Ω; (c) if μ ̄−1<μ<μ ̄ and Ω=B(0,R), then the above problem has no positive solution for λ≤λ*μ. These results are extensions of E. Jannelli's research (g(x,u)=λu).

Abstract:This paper is a complement of our recent works on the semilinear Tricomi equations in [9] and [10]. For the semilinear Tricomi equation ∂t2u−tΔu=|u|p with initial data (u(0,⋅),∂tu(0,⋅)) =(u0,u1), where t≥0, x∈Rn (n≥3), p>1, and ui∈C0∞(Rn) (i=0,1), we have shown in [9] and [10] that there exists a critical exponent pcrit(n)>1 such that the solution u, in general, blows up in finite time when 1pcrit(n). In the present paper, firstly, we prove that the solution of ∂t2u−tΔu=|u|p will generally blow up for the critical exponent p=pcrit(n) and n≥2, secondly, we establish the global existence of small data solution to ∂t2u−tΔu=|u|p for p>pcrit(n) and n=2. Thus, we have given a systematic study on the blowup or global existence of small data solution u to the equation ∂t2u−tΔu=|u|p for n≥2.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish existence of infinitely many weak solutions for a class of quasilinear stationary Kirchhoff‐type equations, which involves a general variable exponent elliptic operator with critical growth. Precisely, we study the following nonlocal problem: where Ω is a bounded smooth domain of , with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions on ∂ Ω, the nonlinearity is a continuous function, is a function of the class is a continuous function, whose properties will be introduced later, λ is a positive parameter and . We assume that , where is the critical Sobolev exponent. We will prove that the problem has infinitely many solutions and also we obtain the asymptotic behavior of the solution as λ → 0 + . Furthermore, we emphasize that a difference with previous researches is that the conditions on a (·) are general overall enough to incorporate some interesting differential operators. Our work covers a feature of the Kirchhoff's problems, that is, the fact that the Kirchhoff's function M in zero is different from zero, it also covers a wide class of nonlocal problems for p ( x ) > 1, for all . The main tool to find critical points of the Euler–Lagrange functional associated with this problem is through a suitable truncation argument, concentration‐compactness principle for variable exponent found in Bonder and Silva (2010), and the genus theory introduced by Krasnoselskii. The result of this paper extends or complements, or else completes recent papers and is new in several directions for the stationary Kirchhoff equations involving the p ( x )‐Laplacian type operators.

Abstract:We consider positive solutions of the problem \begin{equation} \left\{\begin{array}{l}-\mbox{div}(x_{n}^{a}\nabla u)=0\qquad \mbox{in}\;\;\mathbb{R}_+^n,\\ \frac{\partial u}{\partial \nu^a}=u^{q} \qquad \mbox{on}\;\;\partial \mathbb{R}_+^n,\\ \end{array} \right. \end{equation} where $a\in (-1,0)\cup(0,1)$, $q>1$ and $\frac{\partial u}{\partial \nu^a}:=-\lim_{x_{n}\rightarrow 0^+}x_{n}^{a}\frac{\partial u}{\partial x_{n}}$. We obtain some qualitative properties of positive axially symmetric solutions in $n\geq3$ for the case $a\in (-1,0)$ under the condition $q\geq\frac{n-a}{n+a-2}$. In particular, we establish the asymptotic expansion of positive axially symmetric solutions.

Abstract:We consider the following polyharmonic equation with critical exponent {[ (-Δ )^m u = K(|y|)u^m^*-1,u>0 in B_1(0),; u ∈𝒟_0^m,2(B_1(0)), ]. where m>0 is a integer, m^*=:2N/N-2m , B_1(0) is the unit ball in ℝ^N , N ≥ 2m+4 , K:[0,1] →ℝ^N is a bounded function, K'(1)>0 and K”(1) exists. We prove a non-degeneracy result of the non-radial solutions constructed in Guo and Li (Calc Var PDEs 46(3–4):809–836, 2013) via the local Pohozaev identities for N ≥ 2m+4 . Then we apply the non-degeneracy result to obtain new existence of non-radial solutions for N ≥ 6m .
