Abstract:Let Ω be a bounded domain in Rn, n⩾3, with the boundary ∂Ω∈C3. We consider the following singularly perturbed nonlinear elliptic problem on Ωε2Δu−u+f(u)=0,u>0on Ω,∂u∂ν=0on ∂Ω, where ν is an exterior normal to ∂Ω and a nonlinearity f of subcritical growth. Under rather strong conditions on f, it has been known that for small ε>0, there exists a solution uε of the above problem which exhibits a spike layer near local maximum points of the mean curvature H on ∂Ω as ε→0. In this paper, we obtain the same result under some conditions on f (Berestycki–Lions conditions), which we believe to be almost optimal.

Abstract:In this paper, the following critical biharmonic elliptic problem \begin{eqnarray*} \begin{cases} \Delta^2u= \lambda u+\mu u\ln u^2+|u|^{2^{**}-2}u, &x\in\Omega,\\ u=\dfrac{\partial u}{\partial \nu}=0, &x\in\partial\Omega \end{cases} \end{eqnarray*} is considered, where $\Omega\subset \mathbb{R}^{N}$ is a bounded smooth domain with $N\geq5$. Some interesting phenomenon occurs due to the uncertainty of the sign of the logarithmic term. It is shown, mainly by using Mountain Pass Lemma, that the problem admits at lest one nontrivial weak solution under some appropriate assumptions of $\lambda$ and $\mu$. Moreover, a nonexistence result is also obtained. Comparing the results in this paper with the known ones, one sees that some new phenomena occur when the logarithmic perturbation is introduced.

We believe that the various new ideas and technique computations that we used in this paper would be very useful to deal with other related problems involving critical Halmitonian system and the construction of new solutions.

Abstract:In this short note, a critical bi-harmonic elliptic equation with logarithmic perturbation is considered. The same problem has been investigated recently by Li et al. (2023), where existence and nonexistence of weak solutions were obtained when the parameters and the domain satisfy some appropriate conditions. Part of their existence condition is weakened in this note. Moreover, the types of the weak solutions can be specified with the help of Brézis-Lieb's lemma and Ekeland's variational principle.

Abstract:In this paper, we are paid attention to the following logarithmic Choquard equation −Δu+u=[I2∗F(u)]f(u),x∈R2, where I2=12πln⁡1|x| is the Newtonian kernel in dimension 2, F(u)=∫0uf(t)dt and f∈C1(R,R) is critical exponential growth with respect to Trudinger–Moser. Based on a variational framework proposed in Liu et al. (J Differ Equ 2022;328), we obtain a positive finite energy solution of the above logarithmic Choquard equation via the variational methods. Furthermore, we use another approach to investigate the planar logarithmic Choquard equations involving critical exponential growth.

Abstract:This paper studies a nonlinear Dirichlet problem for the $p$-Laplacian operator with nonlinearity consisting of power components. The problem under consideration can be though of as a perturbation of the Ambrosetti-Brezis-Cerami problem with concave-convex nonlinearity. The combined effect of power components in the perturbed nonlinearity allows to establish a higher order multiplicity of positive solutions. We study properties of the perturbed energy functional and prove the existence of three positive solutions to the problem at hand.

Abstract:In light of the exponential decay of solutions of linear wave equations on hyperbolic spaces $\mathbb{H}^n$, to illustrate the critical nature, we investigate nonlinear wave equations with logarithmic nonlinearity, which behaves like $\left(\ln {1}/{|u|}\right)^{1-p}|u|$ near $u=0$, on hyperbolic spaces. Concerning the global existence vs blow up with small data, we expect that the problem admits a critical power $p_c(n)>1$. When $n=3$, we prove that the critical power is $3$, by proving global existence for $p>3$, as well as generically blow up for $p\in (1,3)$.

Abstract:In this paper, we are interested in studying the multiplicity, uniqueness, and nonexistence of solutions for a class of singular elliptic eigenvalue problems for the Dirichlet fractional ( p , q )-Laplacian. The nonlinearity considered involves supercritical Sobolev growth. Our approach is variational together with the sub- and supersolution methods, and in this way we can address a wide range of problems not yet contained in the literature. Even when failing, we establish (for some ), when u is a solution.

Abstract:In this paper, a critical Kirchhoff equation with a logarithmic type subcritical term in a bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^4$ is considered. We view this problem as a critical elliptic equation with a nonlocal perturbation, and investigate how the nonlocal term affects the existence of weak solutions to the problem. By means of Ekeland's variational principle, Brézis-Lieb's lemma and some convergence tricks for nonlocal problems, we show that this problem admits at least one weak solution which is a local minimum of the energy functional or a least energy solution, under some appropriate assumptions on the parameters. Compared with the ones obtained in [Adv. Nonlinear Stud., 23(1)(2023), No.20220049, 22 pp] and [J. Geom. Anal., 34(6)(2024), No. 182, 44 pp], our results show that the introduction of the nonlocal term enlarges the ranges of the parameters such that the problem admits weak solutions, which implies that the nonlocal term has a positive effect on the existence of weak solutions.

Abstract:The present article investigates the existence, multiplicity and regularity of weak solutions of problems involving a combination of critical Hartree type nonlinearity along with singular and discontinuous nonlinearity. By applying variational methods and using the notion of generalized gradients for Lipschitz continuous functional, we obtain the existence and the multiplicity of weak solutions for some suitable range of $\lambda$ and $\gamma$. Finally by studying the $L^\infty$-estimates and boundary behavior of weak solutions, we prove their Hölder and Sobolev regularity.

First, using reduction argument, truncation technique, Ekeland’s variational principle, and the Mountain Pass theorem, we obtain that the above system admits at least two solutions with different energy for λ large enough and ε fixed. Finally, we research the asymptotic behavior of solutions with respect to the parameters ε .

To know which of the three terms $\mu \Delta u$, $\lambda u$ and $\tau u \log u^2$ has a greater influence on the existence of nontrivial weak solutions, we prove the existence of nontrivial weak solutions to the above problem for $N\ge5$ under some assumptions of $\lambda, \mu$ and $\tau$.

Abstract:In this paper, we study a class of Kirchhoff type logarithmic Schrödinger equations involving the critical or supercritical Sobolev exponent. Such problems cannot be studied by applying variational methods in a standard way, because the nonlinearities do not satisfy the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition and change sign. Moreover, the appearance of the logarithmic term makes the associated energy functional lose differentiable in the sense of Gateaux. By analyzing the structure of the Nehari manifold and developing some analysis techniques, the above obstacles are overcome in subtle ways and several existence result are obtained. Furthermore, we investigate the regularity, the monotonicity, and the symmetric properties of the solutions via the iterative technique and the moving plane method.

Abstract:This is the final part of a series of papers where we study perturbations of divergence form second order elliptic operators by first and zero order terms, whose complex coefficients lie in critical spaces, via the method of layer potentials. In particular, we show that the well-posedness (with natural non-tangential maximal function estimates) of the Dirichlet, Neumann and regularity problems for complex Hermitian, block form, or constant-coefficient divergence form elliptic operators in the upper half-space are all stable under such perturbations. Due to the lack of the classical De Giorgi–Nash–Moser theory in our setting, our method to prove the non-tangential maximal function estimates relies on a completely new argument: We obtain a certain weak- " $N<s$ " estimate, which we eventually couple with square function bounds, weighted extrapolation theory, and a bootstrapping argument to recover the full bound. Finally, we show the existence and uniqueness of solutions in a relatively broad class. As a corollary, we claim the first results in an unbounded domain concerning the -solvability of boundary value problems for the magnetic Schrödinger operator when the magnetic potential and the electric potential V are accordingly small in the norm of a scale-invariant Lebesgue space.</s\)<>
