Abstract:A fixed point theorem is used to study a singular second order three-point boundary value problem. The problem is more general. Combining the method of constructing Green functions with operators defined piecewise, the existence result of positive solutions to a singular second order three-point boundary value problem is established. Abstract:In this paper, we investigate positive solutions of boundary value problems for a general second-order nonlinear difference equation, which includes a Jacobi operator and a parameter λ. Based on the critical point theory, we obtain the existence of three solutions for the boundary value problem. Then, we establish a strong maximum principle for this problem and obtain some determined open intervals of the parameter λ for the existence of at least two positive solutions. In the end, we give two examples to illustrate our main results.

Abstract:We study a class of boundary value problems with $\varphi$-Laplacian (e.g., the prescribed mean curvature equation, in which $\varphi(s)=\frac{s}{\sqrt{1+s^2}}$) \begin{center} $-\left(\varphi(u')\right)'=\lambda f(u)\; \text{ on }(-L, L),\quad u(-L)=u(L)=0,$ \end{center} where $\lambda$ and $L$ are positive parameters. For convex $f$ with $f(0)=0$, we establish various results on the exact number of positive solutions as well as global bifurcation diagrams. Some new bifurcation patterns are shown. This paper is a continuation of Pan and Xing [13], where the case $f(0)>0$ has been investigated.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the existence and multiplicity results of positive solutions for a boundary value problem of nonlinear fractional differential equations. The differential operator is taken in the Riemann-Liouville sense and the nonlinear term depends on the fractional derivative of an unknown function. We derive first the associated Green’s function and prove its properties. Consequently, the considered problem is deduced to an equivalent integral equation. Next, by means of the Leggett-Williams fixed point theory, we obtain the existence and multiplicity results of positive solutions.

An existence theorem of positive solutions is established by using the Schauder fixed point theorem and perturbation and operator approximation method, which resolves the singularity successfully and differs from those of some papers. Abstract:In this paper, we delve into a discrete nonlinear singular semipositone problem, characterized by a nonlinear boundary condition. The nonlinearity, given by f(u)−auα with α>0, exhibits a singularity at u=0 and tends towards −∞ as u approaches 0+. By constructing some suitable auxiliary problems, the difficulty that arises from the singularity and semipositone of nonlinearity and the lack of a maximum principle is overcome. Subsequently, employing the Krasnosel'skii fixed-point theorem, we determine the parameter range that ensures the existence of at least one positive solution and the emergence of at least two positive solutions. Furthermore, based on our existence results, one can obtain the symmetry of the solutions after adding some symmetric conditions on the given functions by using a standard argument.

Abstract:We consider the classical nonlinear fourth-order two-point boundary value problem . In this problem, the nonlinear term h(t)f(t, u(t), u′(t), u″(t)) contains the first and second derivatives of the unknown function, and the function h(t)f(t, x, y, z) may be singular at t = 0, t = 1 and at x = 0, y = 0, z = 0. By introducing suitable height functions and applying the fixed point theorem on the cone, we establish several local existence theorems on positive solutions and obtain the corresponding eigenvalue intervals.

Abstract:In this paper, we mainly establish the existence of at least three non-trivial solutions for a class of nonhomogeneous quasilinear elliptic systems with Dirichlet boundary value or Neumann boundary value in a bounded domain $\Omega\subset\mathbb{R}^N $ and $N\geq 1$. We exploit the method which is based on [6]. This method let us obtain the concrete open interval about the parameter $\lambda$. Since the quasilinear term depends on $u$ and $\nabla u$, it is necessary for our proofs to use the theory of monotone operators and the skill of adding one dimension to space.
