Abstract:A series of experiments were performed to compact titanium alloy (TC4) powder through magnetic pulse compaction and heating. Effects of the compacting conditions, such as heating-up temperature, discharge voltage and repressing times, on the relative density of TC4 powder compact prepared by magnetic pulse compaction and heating were investigated through the average relative density and optical metallographic analysis. The results show that the relative densities of compacts do not linearly increase with the temperature and its value reaches the maximum at 300°C. With the discharge energy kept constant and at 300°C, the increase of the discharge voltage enhances the relative density, which can be improved prominently with repressing times.
