Abstract:In test of thermo-vibration combined environment with high-linear-acceleration,centrifuge is usually utilized to realize high-linear-acceleration,and vibration bed and temperature box installed on it are employed to implement combined environment.Since rotating speed of centrifuge and frequency of vibration bed change in a wide range,furthermore,natural characteristics of centrifuge changes with rotating speed,the likelihood of resonance between centrifuge arm and vibration bed is large,which generates great difficulty for design of centrifuge arm.Dynamic characteristics are analyzed and changing regulation of different order natural frequency with modal vibration is gained.Finally,modal experiment is conducted on centrifuge,which demonstrates that the computation result is reliable.This result provides important reference for design of centrifuge and vibration table.

Abstract:The axial vibration of the centrifugal pump gear box has been analyzed and diagnosed by the technology of the condition monitoring and fault diagnosis in this paper.Based on testing,analyzing,and combined with the mechanism of the gear box axial vibration,the vibration reasons have been found and the rebuilding measures have been provided.The vibration of the rebuilded gear box has been decreased greatly and meets the requirements of our nation standard.

Abstract:As one of the core components of the gas turbine compressor, the blades are prone to cracks and even breakages when working in harsh environments such as high pressure, high speed, and alternating heavy loads. The generation and propagation of cracks will change the natural vibration characteristics of blades. Therefore, it is necessary to research the influence of different types of crack faults on the natural vibration characteristics of blades, which can provide a theoretical reference for the blade crack fault diagnosis. Firstly, the finite element model of the healthy gas turbine compressor blade was established, and the modal parameters were analyzed; secondly, in order to verify the accuracy of the finite element model, the blade modal experiment platform was built to carry out the modal experiment of the healthy blade based on the moving hammer method, and the influence of different sensor installation methods on the modal test results was analyzed; finally, the modal parameters of the blade with different types of crack faults were analyzed based on the finite element model, and the mapping relationship between the crack faults and the natural vibration characteristics of the blade was established. The results show that crack type variation would affect the natural vibration characteristics of the blade, which will lead to modal coupling and modal shape switching characteristics. As a result, the same order vibration mode of blade has different mode shapes at different crack positions and shapes. The results of this paper may serve as a theoretical basis for the diagnosis of compressor blade crack faults based on vibration characteristics.

Abstract:The scroll compressor is the core component of the air conditioning system. It is important to accurately evaluate the operation status of the air conditioning system. In this paper, the condenser failure is simulated to explore the impact on the scroll compressor by building an air conditioning system experimental platform. The characteristic frequencies and generation mechanisms of vibration and noise signals are discussed through Time-frequency analysis. The characteristic frequencies in the x, y, and z directions are shaft frequency, second harmonic frequency of stator slot and magnet frequency. Abnormal vibration of the scroll compressor caused by changes in pressure and unbalanced electromagnetic force. The modulation characteristic frequency of the signal and the trend of modulation characteristic changes under fault conditions are discussed through signal demodulation methods. The amplitude modulation of the characteristic frequency is enhanced by the unbalanced electromagnetic force on the shaft rotor. The amplitude of the modulation characteristic frequency of the vibration signal in the three directions and the noise signal increases by 45.0%, 17.3%, 71.4% and 123.0%. This study reveals the mechanism and modulation characteristics of vibration and noise of the scroll compressor, and provides support for its fault diagnosis and status recognition.

Abstract:Vibration faults are the most common faults in large capacity synchronous condenser. The article proposes 11 common vibration faults of condenser, including imbalance, misalignment, looseness, resonance, oil film oscillation, steam flow excitation, dynamic static friction, rotational stall, gear fault, rolling bearing fault, and other vibration faults. The article also proposes the mechanism, characteristics and case analysis of each type of fault separately. The research results on the mechanisms and characteristics of these faults are the foundation of condenser fault diagnosis, and are crucial for the development of intelligent decision-making systems and platforms. Which can provide the strongest technical support for improving power transmission and safety and stability of the power grid.

Abstract:In a petrochemical plastics factory,a superhigh pressure reciprocating compressor had serious vibration and noise pollution.In order to solve the problem,the finite element analysis software ANSYS was used to build vibration analysis models,to have structure modal and harmonic analysis. Thereby the compressor vibration causes were found,and an effective rebuilding program was designed,After the implementation of the program,the vibration was significantly lowered,the biggest drop is more than 76.8%.The method provides a reference for reducing vibration and noise of other superhigh pressure devices.

Abstract:The installed capacity of wind turbines in China increased rapidly in the past 10 years. Against the backdrop of growing wind turbine capacity, the failure of wind turbines is becoming increasingly serious. Based on the three primary configurations and failure statistics analysis of wind turbines in China, this paper summarizes the failures of wind turbine components, such as frequency converters, generators, gearboxes, pitch systems, yaw systems, blades, braking systems and sub-synchronous machines. Although there are many failure types and various causes, we can deduce four primary reasons for these failures: lack of core technologies; inferior quality due to price competition; design standards and wind farm climate differences; and no mandatory quality certification and exterior factors, such as wind farm construction, power grids and maintenance. Finally, while aiming to improve the reliability, a reliability management method with regard to the design, manufacturing and maintenance of wind turbines was proposed.

Abstract:Vibration analysis is an effective tool for the condition monitoring and fault diagnosis of wind turbine drivetrains. It enables the defect location of mechanical subassemblies and health indicator construction for remaining useful life prediction, which is beneficial to reducing the operation and maintenance costs of wind farms. This paper analyzes the structure features of different drivetrains of mainstream wind turbines and introduces a vibration data acquisition system. Almost all the research on the vibration-based diagnosis algorithm for wind turbines in the past decade is reviewed, with its effects being discussed. Several challenging tasks and their solutions in the vibration-based fault detection of wind turbine drivetrains are proposed from the perspective of practicality for wind turbines, including the fault detection of planetary subassemblies in multistage wind turbine gearboxes, fault feature extraction under nonstationary conditions, fault information enhancement techniques and health indicator construction. Numerous naturally damaged cases representing the real operational features of industrial wind turbines are given, with a discussion of the failure mechanism of defective parts in wind turbine drivetrains as well.

Abstract:Vibration and noise characteristic of two-stage centrifugal compressors used in refrigeration system is studied experimentally. Experimental results of vibration acceleration, sound pressure spectra and their coherence indicate that the compressor noise is dominated by tonal components at discrete frequencies and is mainly radiated from the vibration of the outlet pipe of the compressor. Therefore, a multi-layer micro-perforated panel absorber fixed at the outlet pipe is employed to attenuate the compressor noise, where acoustic transmission analysis and generic algorithm are combined to design optimal geometry parameters of the absorber. Experimental results confirm that the designed micro-perforated panel absorber can effectively reduce the noise of the centrifugal refrigeration compressor.

Abstract:The condition monitoring and fault diagnosis are mainly consist of fault detection, fault diagnosis, trend analysis, and prognosis etc. The traditional vibration diagnostic method was based on spectrum analysis for the turbine generator unit. The time-frequency contour map by wavelet transform has been playing a significant role in the analysis of singularities, which hide in the signal. First of all, in this paper, the theory of Wavelet Transform, Morlet Wavelet, which is one kind of complex wavelet, and the time-frequency contour map were introduced. Then several simulating vibration signals containing typical faults, such as misalignment, oil whirl and loose of the turbine generator, were transformed based on the Morlet Wavelet. The transform results were plotted in time-frequency contour map, which revealed the faults in the signal. The favorable results obtained from the examples show that the time-frequency contour map is an effective method not only in singularity discovering and localization, but also in fault classification diagnosis, early prediction or prognosis, and fault trend analysis etc. Finally, the real vibration signals in power plants are analyzed by the time-frequency contour map.

Abstract:A new turbo-generator unit can not work in gear because of heavy vibration.After vibration test on it and deep analysis,it is pointed out that the fault was caused by rubbing and decrease of bearing-stiffness helped the rubbing also.The vibration problem was solved well after reasonable treatment.

Abstract:To study the typical failure mechanism (rotor unbalance, rotor friction, and rotor crack) and vibration characteristics of the turbocharger rotor system, a rotor system dynamics simulation model was established by an improved four-node aggregate parameter method. The geometric and physical characteristics of the rotor system under three failure states and its dynamics under operation were analyzed. Thus, a typical failure dynamics simulation model of the rotor system was established. On this basis, the output failure simulation signal was extracted using the Hu invariant moment feature extraction method to analyze the system vibration characteristics under each typical failure state of the rotor system. The results show that the model in this paper can effectively reduce the computational volume and computational time, and the errors of numerical simulation were less than 3%. When an unbalance fault occurred in the rotor system, the shaft trajectory was "0" shaped and the response spectrum was dominated by 1X. When the rotor system was frictional, the shaft trajectory was a slightly concave "8" shape, and the response spectrum was dominated by 0.5X. When the rotor system was cracked, the axial trajectory was a "vortex", and the response spectrum was dominated by 0.5X. Thus, the study of typical failure mechanism and vibration characteristics of a turbocharger rotor system by simulation calculation is effective and has good research prospects, providing an important technical reference for dynamic analysis and fault diagnosis of the rotor system.

Abstract:Centrifugal compressors, as the key equipment in process industries such as petroleum refinery and chemical, are faced with the challenges of rotordynamic stability and high efficiency on condition of high pressure ratio and volume flow rate. The back-to-back centrifugal compressor has a reputation of higher efficiency for its smaller balance piston drum and axial thrust bearing than those of through-in-line compressor. However, fluid non-conservation excitation forces at the balance drum seal will prominently affect the stability of rotor; there are risks of rotor stator rubbing caused by large vibration amplitude at balance drum seal when the rotor loses stability. Aiming at this case, the patented integrated structure of balance drum seal and vibration controller was presented which combines the function of active magnetic-bearing (AMB) and hole-pattern-seal (HPS). The feasibility of the integrated AMB-HPS was verified by ANSYS, and the effect of the diameter and depth of the hole on the performance of AMB was studied as well. A test rig was built to test the stiffness-parameters of the integrated AMB-HPS. Finally, the rotor vibration controller was investigated focusing on (1) balancing the cross couple force exerted by the seal on the rotor by the control strategy of displacement feedback, and (2) adding additional damping by the control strategy of velocity feedback. Simulation work of an industrial rotor was carried out. The results indicate that: (1) the presented seal structure can provide enough force for controlling the vibration of the rotor; (2) displacement feedback strategy has less energy consumption than the velocity feedback at the same control effect. The work of this paper can provide the foundation for the designing of new centrifugal compressors.

Mechanics Based Design of Structures and Machines

Abstract:In this study, an equivalent multi-body dynamics model of a rotary compressor for a household air-conditioner is established to predict its vibration responses when eccentric masses on the crankshaft, cyclic gas loads, torque ripple of the motor, connections with rubber washers, and the intake tube and exhaust tube are considered. Practical experiments for measuring the vibration acceleration of the compressor are conducted to validate the reliability and equivalence of the established model. The design of experiments method is employed to determine the optimal counterweights. This study determines the gas loads required to be considered in the counterweight design to attenuate the compressor vibration effectively. In addition, an optimal assembly angle for two counterweights is attained to reduce the compressor vibration.

Abstract:Aiming at its extra vibration problem and operation instability,the BX32 type reciprocating compressor was transformed.The structure of the reciprocating compressor was analyzed by the finite element analysis(FEA) and vibration theory,and the result shows that the resonance of support beams is the main factor of the welding seam breakage of the buffer vessel and vibration of the compressor.The reciprocating compressor's support part was re-design,which gets sound effets on the industrial applications.

Abstract:Higher energy level and more compact structure are the trend of centrifugal compressor, which may lead to the rotordynamics instability problems and high vibration. These problems restrict the improvement of the the rotating machinery operation efficiency and bring about potential safety problems, especially, such as the subsynchronous vibration and unbalance vibration. Aiming at the potential instability caused by the excitation of the seal, a seal combined with electromagnetic damping function was designed in "Investigation on the seal structure design and rotor vibration controller for back-to-back centrifugal compressor(GT2016-56900)". Here, the capability of the Active Magnetic Bearing(AMB)-Hole Pattern Seal(HPS) is investigated in the aspect of function and load characteristic. Furthermore, the electromagnetic damping seal actuator also has the potential to implement the unbalance control. In the aspect of control theory, we combined the damping control algorithm, which is used to control the rotor instability vibration, with the self-optimizing control algorithm for fundamental vibration control of rotor bearing system. The independently optimized control strategy was chosen according to the different frequency vibration waveform. Moreover, we built a comprehensive vibration control experiment platform that is mainly combined with the rotor, tilting pad bearings and electromagnetic damping seal actuator. We did experiment on simulating the instability condition, the control of the instable low frequency vibration, and the control of fundamental frequency vibration.The experimental results show that with the control hardware of high speed FPGA module and the self-optimizing control algorithm, the electromagnetic damping sealing can not only solve the instability caused by the original seal of centrifugal compressor to improve the system stability, but also be used as the active actuator to effectively control the vibration of the rotor system. At the same time, it is also found in the experiment that how to effectively restrain the influence of irrelevant noise and the reasonable selection of initial control parameters have a very important influence on the overall control effect, which is the urgent problem to be solved in the following work. This paper also provides a new design idea and a set of feasible active vibration control strategies for the high speed centrifugal compressor and has guiding significance for solving the problem of multi-frequency vibration and rotor stability of high speed centrifugal compressor.
