Abstract:Single-sided cable-stayed curved-bridge is a type of bridge that is highly expressive for architectural shape.Curved-bridges often constitute cable-stayed bridges with cables.In addition,in order to reduce the mast height and construct more easily,partially cable-stayed bridges can be adopted for large span pedestrian bridges.More proportion of the stiffness is provided by the box girder of the bridge.The box girder and the stay cables work together to form a spatial structural system.The coupling effect of bending-shear-torsion is more complicated.In this paper,related design research was carried out based on a large span partially cable-stayed pedestrian curved-bridge in a city greenway project.The number of the masts and the structural system of the main bridge were optimized.The design of vibration reduction was conducted.This work can provide reference for the relevant engineering practice and research.

Abstract:The main bridge of Caiyuanba Changjiang River Bridge in Chongqing is designed as a hybrid arch bridge composed of rigid-frame structure,basket handle steel box tied arch and steel truss girder.In the construction,the superstructure blocks of the main bridge are lifted and erected with the 4 200 kN cable crane.In this paper,the determination of the basic parameters of the crane and design of each part of the crane components based on the load calculations are described.

Abstract:Architectural and structural design work of roof system of Yueqing Olympic Center are roughly reviewed in the present paper.The stadium with lunar shape adopts a novel type of spatial cable-frames. System constitution of this stadium is different because of braced radial cables and open-mouth hoop cable. The gymnasium and swimming arena adopt a new latticed-shell-string system with non-vertical compression bars and spatial hoop cables.Structural design of steel works of Yueqing Olympic center is in accordance with mechanical rules and restrictions but not constrained by common concepts.It is a little challengeable in some aspects.The present paper aims at roughly review of some key design techniques of new types of large-span spatial structures.Emphasis is put on the process of architectural design and structural design when they do not coincided with each other at the preliminary design stage.

Abstract:As one of the most common failure types of arch bridges, stability is one of the critical aspects for the design of arch bridges. Using 3D finite element model in ABAQUS, this paper has studied the stability performance of an arch bridge with inclined arch ribs and hangers, and the analysis also took the effects of geometrical and material nonlinearity into account. The impact of local buckling and residual stress of steel plates on global stability and the applicability of fiber model in stability analysis for steel arch bridges were also investigated. The results demonstrate an excellent stability of the arch bridge because of the transverse constraint provided by transversely-inclined hangers. The distortion of cross section, local buckling and residual stress of ribs has an insignificant effect on the stability of the structure, and the accurate ultimate strength may be obtained from a fiber model analysis. This study also shows that the yielding of the arch ribs has a significant impact on the ultimate capacity of the structure, and the bearing capacity may also be approximately estimated by the initial yield strength of the arch rib.

Abstract:The project and method of the existing rigid frame arch bridge reinforced by changing arch structural system into arch and cable system is presented.Based on a typical bridge,the analysis of the static behavior of the bridge before and after the strengthening is preformed.The results show that the mid-span bending moment and deflection of the reinforced bridge are reduced obviously and the capacity of carrying load is greatly improved.It is proved that it is an effective method to reinforce the existing rigid frame arch bridges built early and enhance its capacity of carrying load.It has definite theory significance and practical engineering value.Constructional procedure of the bridge reinforced by changing arch structural system into arch and cable system and the reasonable cable force is also presented.

Abstract:The method of FEM analysis combined with optimization was used to calculate inversely the cable forces. The calculation aimed at minimizing the square sum of the altitude deviation of all altitude-controlled nodes. It was limited by the internal force of the arch and the allowable odds of the altitude-controlled nodes. The first order optimization method was introduced to acquire the cable forces. Based on the function of ANSYS on structure analysis and optimization, the method was implemented to calculate the cable forces in the process of segment suspending construction of a concrete-filled steel tubular (CFST) arch bridge. The results showed that this method is precise and effective for bridge construction.
Approach for Analyzing the Ultimate Strength of Concrete Filled Steel Tubular Arch Bridges with Stiffening Girder

Abstract:A convenient approach is proposed for analyzing the ultimate load carrying capacity of concrete filled steel tubular (CFST) arch bridge with stiffening girders. A fiber model beam element is specially used to simulate the stiffening girder and CFST arch rib. The geometric nonlinearity, material nonlinearity, influence of the construction process and the contribution of prestressing reinforcement are all taken into consideration. The accuracy of this method is validated by comparing its results with experimental results. Finally, the ultimate strength of an abnormal CFST arch bridge with stiffening girders is investigated and the effect of construction method is discussed. It is concluded that the construction process has little effect on the ultimate strength of the bridge.

Abstract:An optimization method is introduced to the adjustment of the arch line-shape for long spans arch bridge. The method of FEM analysis combined with optimization is applied to the inverse calculation of the cable forces. Designated as design parameters, the cable forces are acquired by minimizing the square sum of the altitude deviation of all altitude-controlled nodes. The first order optimization method is employed. Based on the FEM program-ANSYS, the method is implemented to adjust the line-shape of a CFST- arch bridge before folding. The result of optimization of the cable forces shows that this method is successful and effective.
Multi-rib Arch Bridge Strengthened by Stayed-Cable and Field Test

Abstract:With the increase of traffic volume and load, the carrying capacity of the early constructed reinforced concrete multi-ribbed arch bridges are obviously lower, it is necessary to take various measures to strengthen them and enhance bearing capacity of these bridges. This paper proposes a reinforcement method by adding cable tower at the two ends abutments of the arch bridges and the inclined cables to improve behavior of the multi-rib arch bridge. The main idea is that additional bridge towers are set on both sides of the single span ribbed arch bridge abutment to hang stayed cables. Taking a typical reinforced concrete multi-rib arch bridge-Baibu Bridge as engineering background, the design of strengthening project was given. The analysis and field load test of the bridge were finished. The comparison between spatial finite element analysis results and field bridge test values of strengthened bridge has good agreement. It shows the validity of the proposed strengthening method for the rib arch bridge and improves effectively the bearing capacity of arch bridges.

Abstract:Owing to the limitation of establishing finite element model of concrete-filled steel tubular(CFST) arch bridge,the more precision model has been put forward.Namely the outer steel tubes,the inner concrete and the reinforcing steel bars have their own elements.Using this method,a CFST arch bridge's deflection curve under different load is obtained considering the material and geometric nonlinearity.The computed results are in agreement with the test data.The result shows that the method used in this paper has better adaptability and definition.

Abstract:The prestressed concrete deck-tied arch bridge doesn't only have a long span, good appearance and economy, but also have the characteristics of low requirements to the foundation. It changes traditional tied arch bridge into deck-tied arch bridge, which looks like sunflower-shaped arch and prestressed steel strands are embedded in box girder on the top of the arch. Taking Yingbin Bridge as engineering background, the reasonable analysis model was established and behaviour of the bridge under design load was analyzed. The results shown that the design project is reasonable, prestressing force embedded in box girder can balance horizontal thrust in arch bridge effectively, improving the internal force of the main arch ring.

Abstract:A gneral mechanical analysis is hard to reflect the actual working status and carrying capacity for the anchorage zone of cable-stayed bridge. The main span structure of Wenhui-Road elevated bridge is a three span (104+ 240+ 104) m cable-stayed bridge with two pylons and two cable planes,based on the conformation and characteristic of strand layout in cable pylon of this bridge, the test project of the full scale model of segment of cable pylon is described, the spatial analysis of segment model is carried through, the values obtained by spatial analysis and test results are compared, some important conclusions are drawn, it is beneficial to theconstrucation of Wenhui Road bridge.

Abstract:The anchorage zone of a cable stayed bridge tower is the key part of cable stayed bridge, in which stress distribution is rather complicated. A general plane analysis method does not reflect actual stress status. In this paper, the main project and method of experimental study of the full scale segmental model of cable stayed bridge tower of the 2nd Yangtze River Bridge in Nanjing are described. The small radius and large tonnage ring U-shape prestressed system is firstly used in the box tower. The test results and FEM spatial analysis values of the full scale segmental model of tower in the stage of prestressing force and the period before concrete cracking are given. They are in a good agreement. Cracking load and ultimate load of the full scale segmental model of the tower are also given. Some suggestions on design of the bridge tower are proposed.

Abstract:In this paper,a three-dimensional finite element model for single pylon and double cable plane cable-stayed bridge is created to analyze the dynamic performance of Linjiangmen Cable-Stayed Bridge in Jilin.The numerical calculation results with the model are agreed fairly well with those of dynamic tests,which manifest that the model can be well used for analysis of the dynamic behavior of the single pylon and double cable plane cable-stayed bridge and can serve as reference to the analysis of dynamic behavior of similar bridges.

Abstract:Based on Tianmu Bridge-No.3 landscaping pedestrian bridge on Jian River in Shunyi District of Beijing,this paper expounds the design considerations, type alternatives and layout of the structural system.Finite element method is employed in this paper to establish the space analysis model of the bridge and to simulate the loading capacity and dynamic characteristics analysis.Compared with common curved cable-stayed bridge,the rigidity and dynamic characteristics of curved double-layer cable-stayed bridge acquire being further improved.The research in this paper is expected to provide helpful reference for the future design of pedestrian bridge with spacial double-layer cable system and abnormity steel box girder.

Abstract:The idea can meet with the bridge aesthetics better that is to install the longitudinal linkage between 2 special-shaped arches.Through the project calculation of Jigeng Bridge in Nantong,the structure internal force of arch rib was changed greatly,especially the shearing force of the contiguous arch rib sections was strengthened evidently after installing the longitudinal linkage.Meanwhile,the external stability of the whole arch rib was lowered but the total rigidity of the whole bridge and natural frequencies were improved.The results showed that the idea should be adopted in the practical design of special-shaped arch bridge.

Abstract:Before and after the 1980s, the China built many reinforced concrete multi-rib arch bridges. With the increase of traffic volume and load, the carrying capacity of the multi-rib arch bridges are obviously lower, it is necessary to take various measures to strengthen and enhance bearing capacity of these bridges. This paper proposes a reinforcement method by adding cable towers in two ends abutment of arch bridges and the inclined cables to improve behavior of RC multi-rib arch bridge. The main idea is that additional bridge towers are set on two side abutments of the RC rib arch bridge with single span to hang stayed cables. Newly-casting RC longitudinal beams are set in two sides of the bridge and the transverse prestressed steel tendons with \( 4{\upvarphi }^{\text{j}} 15.24 \) steel strands on the both sides of every cross beam were stretched, which are wrapped by the steel tubes and connected with longitudinal beams, to enhance the integrality and stiffness of the multi-rib arch bridge. Then, the longitudinal beams of each side of arch bridge are supported by using stayed cables through the cable tower. Comparison of the values gained by space finite element and field test confirmed that the proposed method for strengthening the rib arch bridge and enhancing the bearing capacity is effective.

Abstract:It is difficult for a high-speed railway to locate an orthogonal bridge site so that it has to enlarge its spans as it has large radius,long slope and numerous overpasses.The normal crossing continuous beam may lead to longer bridge lacking sense of beauty due to its higher beam.However,this problem can be overcome by adopting tied arch which may effectively lower the height of the beam and make the bridge look lighter.For this reason,tied arch is favored in selection of high-speed overpass type.The tie-arch bridge,with thrust from the tied arch,is considered as one of rational choices in area where the height of bridge is restricted or the bridge site is geologically unfavorable and large spans are required.Therefore,this paper carries out analysis and research on the structural characteristics and mechanical properties of high-speed railway prestressed concrete tied arch,high-speed railway prestressed concrete-filled steel tube tied arch and high-speed railway steel box tied arch.
