Abstract:Amorphous metal alloys Co<inf>77</inf>Si<inf>11</inf>B<inf>12</inf> and Co<inf>72</inf>Fe<inf>5</inf>Si<inf>11</inf>B<inf>12</inf> were non-isothermally annealed at a heating rate of <tex>$\mathbf{10}\quad \mathbf{K}/\mathbf{min}$</tex> to the temperatures of nanocrystallization processes <tex>$\boldsymbol{T}=\mathbf{771}\ \mathbf{K}$</tex> and <tex>$\boldsymbol{T}=\mathbf{773}\ \mathbf{K}$</tex>, respectively. The SEM and EDS analysis revealed the evolution of the alloy's surface, showing the initial homogeneity and the subsequent emergence of crystalline structures and oxidation upon heating. The corrosion resistance of the initial and modified AMAs was studied using cyclic voltammetry in potentiodynamic mode, within a potential range of −1.4 to −0.4 V in a1M KOH. Results revealed a shift of the corrosion potential towards more positive values in both alloys, from −0.85 V to −0.42 V, indicating increased thermodynamic stability of the surface due to thermal treatment. Additionally, the corrosion current density decreased by 10 times to a value of 5.10-8 A/cm2. The morphological stability of the AMA surface was inferred from the calculated coefficient <tex>$\boldsymbol{a}$</tex> and <tex>$\boldsymbol{b}$</tex> obtained from the Tafel equation.
