Abstract:The 1950s belong to one of the most glorious decades for geometry and topology.A group of young mathematicians established a wealth of great theorems, made ground breaking discoveries, and created a new era in mathematics.These men leave their names in the history of mathematics.Hodge theory was just completed by Weyl and Kodaira in 1941.By exploiting the Chern characteristic classes introduced by Shiing-Shen Chern, Hirzebruch proved the signature theorem and the Hirzebruch-Riemann-Roch theorem in algebraic geometry in 1956.The engineer-turn-mathematician Bott proved the periodicity theorem on homotopy groups.These results would soon inspire Atiyah and Singer to prove their index theorem.Serre calculated the homotopy groups of spheres in algebraic topology using Leray spectral sequence, wrote the famous GAGA in algebraic geometry using sheaf theory, and systematically introduced complex analysis to algebraic geometry.Kodaira proved his famous embedding theorem, and developed deformation theory of complex manifolds.Later, Milnor found the first exotic sphere in dimension 7 and Nash proved his isometric embedding theorem for Riemannian manifolds.These great results are like stars shining in the sky.On Amsterdam's 1954 International Congress of Mathematicians, Kodaira and Serre were awarded Fields medals.Both of their works merged complex analysis, differential geometry and algebraic geometry in a miraculous fashion.As Weyl said in his famous encomium: "You reached heights of which I never dreamt… It shows that the old gnarled tree of mathematics is still full of sap and life."On the very occasion, Eugenio Calabi, a 31-year-old Italian-American mathematician, wrote down his famous conjecture on a sheet of paper during his talk, "For any (1,1)-form R in the first Chern class of a compact Kähler manifold, there exists a unique Kähler metric whose Ricci form is equal to R." Abstract:We define Hecke correspondences and Hecke operators on unitary RZ spaces and study their basic geometric properties, including a commutativity conjecture on Hecke operators. Then we formulate the Arithmetic Fundamental Lemma conjecture for the spherical Hecke algebra. We also formulate a conjecture on the abundance of spherical Hecke functions with identically vanishing first derivative of orbital integrals. We prove these conjectures for the case $U(1)\times U(2)$.

Abstract:In this paper we give a proof of Deligne's conjecture on the critical values of $L$-functions for arbitrary algebraic Hecke characters. This extends a result of Blasius, which only works in the case of CM fields. The key new insight is that the Eisenstein-Kronecker classes of Kings-Sprang, which allow for a cohomological interpretation of the value $L(\chi,0)$ for Hecke characters $\chi$ of arbitrary totally imaginary fields, can be regarded as de Rham classes of Blasius' reflex motive.

Abstract:We propose a conjectural formula expressing the generating series of some Hodge integrals in terms of representation theory of Kac-Moody algebras. Such generating series appear in calculations of Gromov-Witten invariants by localization techniques. It generalizes a formula conjectured by Mari\~no and Vafa, recently proved in joint work with Chiu-Chu Melissa Liu and Kefeng Liu. Some examples are presented.
Integrality of Hecke eigenvalues and the growth of Hecke fields

Abstract:We prove that Hecke eigenvalues for any Hilbert and Siegel modular forms are algebraic integers. Our method does not rely on cohomologicality nor Galois representations. We apply the integrality of Hecke eigenvalues for Hilbert modular forms of non-parallel weight to the estimation of the growth of Hecke fields of Hilbert cusp forms with non-vanishing central $L$-values. As a further application, we give the growth of the fields of rationality of cuspidal automorphic representations of ${\rm GL}_{2d}(\mathbb{A}_\mathbb{Q})$ for a prime number $d$ with non-vanishing central $L$-values. We also apply the integrality of Hecke eigenvalues for holomorphic Siegel cusp forms of general degree in order to give the growth of the Hecke fields of those forms.

A geometric realization of the asymptotic affine Hecke algebra

Abstract:A key tool for the study of an affine Hecke algebra $\mathcal{H}$ is provided by Springer theory of the Langlands dual group via the realization of $\mathcal{H}$ as equivariant $K$-theory of the Steinberg variety. We prove a similar geometric description for Lusztig's asymptotic affine Hecke algebra $J$ identifying it with the sum of equivariant $K$-groups of the squares of ${\mathbb C}^*$-fixed points in the Springer fibers, as conjectured by Qiu and Xi (the same result was also obtained by Oron Popp using different methods). As an application, we give a new geometric proof of Lusztig's parametrization of irreducible representations of $J$. We also reprove Braverman-Kazhdan's spectral description of $J$. As another application, we prove a description of the cocenters of $\mathcal{H}$ and $J$ conjectured by the first author with Braverman, Kazhdan and Varshavsky. The proof is based on a new algebraic description of $J$, which may be of independent interest.

Abstract:Since the study by Jacobi and Hecke, Hecke-type series have received extensive attention. Especially, Hecke-type series involving infinite products have attracted broad interest among many mathematicians including Kac, Peterson, Andrews, Bressoud and Liu. Motivated by the works of these people, we study Hecke-type series involving infinite products. In particular, we establish some Hecke-type series involving infinite products and then obtain the truncated versions of these series as well as some other known series of the same type. As consequences, three families of inequalities for certain partition functions are also presented. Our proofs heavily rely on a formula from the work of Zhi-Guo Liu.

Abstract:Generalised hypergeometric sheaves are rigid local systems on the punctured projective line with remarkable properties. Their study originated in the seminal work of Riemann on the Euler–Gauss hypergeometric function and has blossomed into an active field with connections to many areas of mathematics. In this paper, we construct the Hecke eigensheaves whose eigenvalues are the irreducible hypergeometric local systems, thus confirming a central conjecture of the geometric Langlands program for hypergeometrics. The key new concept is the notion of hypergeometric automorphic data. We prove that this automorphic data is generically rigid (in the sense of Zhiwei Yun) and identify the resulting Hecke eigenvalue with hypergeometric sheaves. The definition of hypergeometric automorphic data in the tame case involves the mirabolic subgroup, while in the wild case, semistable (but not necessarily stable) vectors coming from principal gradings intervene.

Abstract:We prove a number of unconditional statistical results of the Hecke coefficients for unitary cuspidal representations of $\operatorname{GL}(2)$ over number fields. Using partial bounds on the size of the Hecke coefficients, instances of Langlands functoriality, and properties of Rankin-Selberg $L$-functions, we obtain bounds on the set of places where linear combinations of Hecke coefficients are negative. Under a mild functoriality assumption we extend these methods to $\operatorname{GL}(n)$. As an application, we obtain a result related to a question of Serre about the occurrence of large Hecke eigenvalues of Maass forms. Furthermore, in the cases where the Ramanujan conjecture is satisfied, we obtain distributional results of the Hecke coefficients at places varying in certain congruence or Galois classes.

Abstract:In this paper we prove a conjecture of Kudla and Rallis. Let $\chi$ be a unitary character, $s\in \mathbb{C}$ and $W$ a symplectic vector space over a non-archimedean field with symmetry group $G(W)$. Denote by $I(\chi,s)$ the degenerate principal series representation of $G(W\oplus W)$. Pulling back $I(\chi,s)$ along the natural embedding $G(W)\times G(W)\hookrightarrow G(W\oplus W)$ gives a representation $I_{W,W}(\chi,s)$ of $G(W)\times G(W)$. Let $\pi$ be an irreducible smooth complex representation of $G(W)$. We then prove \[\dim _\mathbb{C}\mathrm{Hom}_{G(W)\times G(W)}(I_{W,W}(\chi,s),\pi\otimes \pi^\lor)=1.\] We also give analogous statements for $W$ orthogonal or unitary. This gives in particular a new proof of the conservation relation of the local Theta correspondence for symplectic-orthogonal and unitary dual pairs.

Abstract:We construct the geometric Langlands functor in one direction (from the automorphic to the spectral side) in characteristic zero settings (i.e., de Rham and Betti). We prove that various forms of the conjecture (de Rham vs Betti, restricted vs. non-restricted, tempered vs. non-tempered) are equivalent. We also discuss structural properties of Hecke eigensheaves.

Control Theorems for Hilbert Modular Varieties

Abstract:We prove an exact control theorem, in the sense of Hida theory, for the ordinary part of the middle degree étale cohomology of certain Hilbert modular varieties, after localizing at a suitable maximal ideal of the Hecke algebra. Our method of proof builds upon the techniques introduced by Loeffler-Rockwood-Zerbes; another important ingredient in our proof is the recent work of Caraiani-Tamiozzo on the vanishing of the étale cohomology of Hilbert modular varieties with torsion coefficients outside the middle degree. This work will be used in forthcoming work of the author to show that the Asai-Flach Euler system corresponding to a quadratic Hilbert modular form varies in Hida families.
