ICT-based Educational Innovation Sustainable Development: Review on the Fifth Global Chinese Conference on Computers in Education

Abstract:Innovation is the driving force of the education reform and development. Research and application of information technology on education, should not only focus on information technology support education innovation, but also pay more attention to promoting the sustainable development of educational innovation. The 15th Global Chinese Conference on Computers in Education (GCCCE2011) was held in Zhejiang University in May 29(superscript th) to 31(superscript th) 2011. Taking ”ICT-based Educational Innovation” as the theme, this conference revealed the importance of information technology in education. Now the focus of information technology application in the educational innovation is transformed from the educational techniques and methods to the educational ideas and modes. 1300 papers were received in the conference, and 500 delegates from hundreds of universities, scientific research institution and K12 schools from the United States, Singapore, Italy, mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan discussed many issues such as mobile learning and ubiquitous learning, educational games and informal learning, ICT application in Chinese language teaching, computer supported collaborative learning and artificial intelligence in education, construction of the digital learning environment and educational software design, digital measurement and evaluation, digital learning and corporate training, ICT application in primary and secondary education and other themes was made further discussion and exchange.
