Abstract:With the development of remote education,the requirement of remote virtual experiments(RVE)is boosting.Remote virtual experiment of circuits(RVEC)is one of the important applications in RVE.The difficulty of RVEC system developmetn is that the simulation should be real,continual and could support real-time interactions.Focusing on these puzzles the real-time continual simulation technology based on the time-slice strategy is presented the simulation process is splitted into several time-slices,and along with context-resetting and interactive response mechanism,the contimal simulation is adived.Based on the technology,a continual and interactive RVEC platform is designed and realized.

Abstract:SANER 2019, the 26th IEEE International IEEE International Conference on Software Analysis, Evolution and Reengineering. SANER is the premier research conference on the theory and practice of recovering information from existing software and systems. It explores innovative methods of extracting the many kinds of information that can be recovered from software, software engineering documents, and systems artifacts, and examines innovative ways of using this information in system renovation and program understanding. SANER 2019 has a rich and diverse program on the latest innovations and visions in software analysis, evolution and reengineering. The research track received 151 submissions, of which 2 were desk-rejected and 1 was withdrawn by the authors during the review period. The remaining 148 papers each received at least three reviews. We adopted a double-blind reviewing process to the research track based on the success of double-blind reviewing adopted last year. Following an extensive online discussion, 45 papers were accepted (5 of them being conditionally accepted in a first stage), yielding an acceptance rate of 30.4%. No specific acceptance rate was communicated as a guideline to the reviewers. The PC were free to accept any paper deemed strong and novel enough and were encouraged to look for reasons to accept papers rather than to just point out flaws. The accepted papers will be published in the official conference proceedings. Up to top 10% of accepted papers would be awarded the IEEE TCSE Distinguished Paper Awards. The award papers will be announced at the conference. As in previous years, authors of selected papers from the research track will be invited to submit extended versions of their work to a special issue of the Springer international journal of Empirical Software Engineering (EMSE).

Remote testing and controlling system of electrorheological actuator based on virtual instruments is set up. The system's construction project and remote controlling project are presented. Utilizing the system, we can expediently to test and control the actuator's physical quantities speedily and accurately. The system is also a new\|style experimental platform. Many electromechanical transmission and controlling experiments can be carried out on this platform.

Abstract:With the advancement in signal processing technology and the advent of new sophisticated sensors, there is a need to change the way experiments are conducted in laboratories where conventional methods are still used. This paper proposes a method of experimentation where a programmable computer acts like a virtual instrument and can be programmed to do experiments without having to use old and conventional equipment like ammeters, voltmeters, wattmeters, power analyzers and even oscilloscopes. Online performance monitoring and testing of an induction motor and a transformer have been carried out through Virtual Instrumentation to show the benefits of such a method.

Abstract:The ACM Symposium on Virtual Reality Software and Technology (VRST) has become one of the major scientific events in the area of Virtual Reality since its debut in 1994. VRST 2010, held during 22-24 November, 2010, is the seventeenth VRST conference. We are very pleased to have VRST 2010 return to Hong Kong (since 1996, 2002 and 2004). The VRST technical program consists of high quality technical papers that are carefully reviewed and selected by an International Program Committee. Each paper in the program was reviewed by three to four members of the committee. This year, we received a total of 103 submissions (71 full papers and 32 short papers) from 50 countries. The International Program Committee was made up of 60 experts and researchers in virtual reality and related areas. The committee accepted a total of 18 full papers (representing an acceptance rate of 25.3%). In addition, it also recommended accepting 15 short papers and 10 posters/demonstrations.

Virtual and Remote Robotic Laboratory Using EJS, MATLAB and LabVIEW

Abstract:This paper describes the design and implementation of a virtual and remote laboratory based on Easy Java Simulations (EJS) and LabVIEW. The main application of this laboratory is to improve the study of sensors in Mobile Robotics, dealing with the problems that arise on the real world experiments. This laboratory allows the user to work from their homes, tele-operating a real robot that takes measurements from its sensors in order to obtain a map of its environment. In addition, the application allows interacting with a robot simulation (virtual laboratory) or with a real robot (remote laboratory), with the same simple and intuitive graphical user interface in EJS. Thus, students can develop signal processing and control algorithms for the robot in simulation and then deploy them on the real robot for testing purposes. Practical examples of application of the laboratory on the inter University Master of Systems Engineering and Automatic Control are presented.

Abstract:Driven by recent advancements in Extended Reality (XR), the hype around the Metaverse, and real‐time computer graphics, the transformation of the performing arts, particularly in digitizing and visualizing musical experiences, is an ever‐evolving landscape. This transformation offers significant potential in promoting inclusivity, fostering creativity, and enabling live performances in diverse settings. However, despite its immense potential, the field of Virtual Instrument Performances (VIP) has remained relatively unexplored due to numerous challenges. These challenges arise from the complex and multi‐modal nature of musical instrument performances, the need for high precision motion capture under occlusions including the intricate interactions between a musician's body and fingers with instruments, the precise synchronization and seamless integration of various sensory modalities, accommodating variations in musicians' playing styles, facial expressions, and addressing instrument‐specific nuances. This comprehensive survey delves into the intersection of technology, innovation, and artistic expression in the domain of virtual instrument performances. It explores musical performance multi‐modal databases and investigates a wide range of data acquisition methods, encompassing diverse motion capture techniques, facial expression recording, and various approaches for capturing audio and MIDI data (Musical Instrument Digital Interface). The survey also explores Music Information Retrieval (MIR) tasks, with a particular emphasis on the Musical Performance Analysis (MPA) field, and offers an overview of various works in the realm of Musical Instrument Performance Synthesis (MIPS), encompassing recent advancements in generative models. The ultimate aim of this survey is to unveil the technological limitations, initiate a dialogue about the current challenges, and propose promising avenues for future research at the intersection of technology and the arts.

The Vicarios Virtual Reality Interface for Remote Robotic Teleoperation

Abstract:Abstract Intuitive interaction is the cornerstone of accurate and effective performance in remote robotic teleoperation. It requires high-fidelity in control actions as well as perception (vision, haptic, and other sensory feedback) of the remote environment. This paper presents Vicarios , a Virtual Reality (VR) based interface with the aim of facilitating intuitive real-time remote teleoperation, while utilizing the inherent benefits of VR, including immersive visualization, freedom of user viewpoint selection, and fluidity of interaction through natural action interfaces. Vicarios aims to enhance the situational awareness, using the concept of viewpoint-independent mapping between the operator and the remote scene, thereby giving the operator better control in the perception-action loop. The article describes the overall system of Vicarios , with its software, hardware, and communication framework. A comparative user study quantifies the impact of the interface and its features, including immersion and instantaneous user viewpoint changes, termed “ teleporting ”, on users’ performance. The results show that users’ performance with the VR-based interface was either similar to or better than the baseline condition of traditional stereo video feedback, approving the realistic nature of the Vicarios interface. Furthermore, including the teleporting feature in VR significantly improved participants’ performance and their appreciation for it, which was evident in the post-questionnaire results. Vicarios capitalizes on the intuitiveness and flexibility of VR to improve accuracy in remote teleoperation.
