Abstract:This volume of “IOP Conference Series: Material Science and Engineering” contains the papers presented in the 5 th Anniversary of “World Multidisciplinary Civil Engineering-Architecture-Urban Planning Symposium” in Prague (Czech Republic) during 1-5 September 2020. The aim of the WMCAUS 2020 is to provide a forum for discussion of the latest findings and technologies in different fields of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Urban Planning, to give opportunities for future collaborations. It is a platform for sharing knowledge and experiences in the fields of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Urban Planning by providing a forum for early career researchers for presentation of their work and discussion of their ideas with experts in different fields of Civil Engineering, Architecture and City and Urban Planning. However, the planned period of WMCAUS 2020 was 15-19 June 2020, it was postponed to 1-5 September 2020 because of the Covid-19 pandemic, and held in Prague (Czech Republic) by appearing in person of the participants, not on-line format. All the missions of World Multidisciplinary Civil Engineering-Architecture-Urban Planning Symposium – WMCAUS 2020 were completed, and 342 peer reviewed articles were published. We would like to thank all reviewers for their great effort to achieve the high quality of published articles. We would like to show our deep gratitude to the honored Scientific Committee and Institutional Scientific Partners of WMCAUS. The Scientific Committee and Institutional Scientific Partners of WMCAUS was completed by paying strict attention, and all members were selected from well-known, very much appreciated, productive and representatives of the different countries. Abstract:6th International Conference on Art, Design and Cultural Studies (ADCS 2024) was held during April 13-14, 2024 in Wuhan City, China, and this conference was a great success. The conference provides a useful and wide platform both for display the latest research and for exchange of research results and thoughts in Art, Design and Cultural Studies. The success and prosperity of the conference is reflected high level of the papers received. The aim of ADCS 2024 is to provide a platform for educators, sociologists, designers, writers, historians and graduate students from different cultural backgrounds to present and discuss research, developments and innovations in all fields of Art, Design and Cultural Studies. It provides opportunities for the delegates to exchange new ideas and application experiences, to establish business or research relations and to find global partners for future collaboration. We would like to acknowledge all of those who supported 6th ADCS. Each individual in addition, institutional help was very important for the success of this conference. Especially we would like to thank the organizing committee for their valuable advices in the organization and helpful peer review of the papers. It was a fully synchronized online conference that had live Q&A, participants jointly listened to presentations, and attended other live events associated with the conference. Each speech lasted for 30 minutes, including 5 minutes for Q&A. and for other sessions, there was 20 minutes for each presentation, including 5 minutes for Q&A. The interaction session was made the real experience to the participants and they had good exposure with the foreign university students and delegates. We would like to thank all the author submitted papers to the conferences and thank you all the reviewers for their time and effort in reviewing articles. Abstract:Welcome to the Proceedings of the 2020 4th International Conference on Sustainable Energy Engineering (ICSEE 2020), which was held during May 23-25, 2020. The conference is now in its 4th edition and has been gaining increasing visibility and extensive international participation. In the past decades we have witnessed incredible growth of renewable and sustainable energy. The growing fields have moved past experimentation toward realization and plays an important role in economic development and environmental protection. Sustainable energy has been the technological development of diverse ways from improving energy efficiency to new energy, to support deployment, effectively removing time and place constraints. This provides opportunities to foster engineers, researchers and students’ active involvement. Despite many successes, there is still a wide need for research and development in this field, because the technological and cultural contexts require new paradigms for measuring energy sustainability, pragmatic approaches for applying renewable resources and efficiency improvements, and unique insights on managing risk in heat and power production facilities. This conference aims to offer vital information for the universities, corporations, and engineering firms that must apply exciting new energy technology in the real world. In this respect, the conference brings together, engineers, researchers, students, professionals and policy makers who are interested in sustainable energy engineering. Its focus includes all facets of the field, ranging from theoretical aspects to technological issues, and up to the design and implementation of sustainable energy engineering. On the behalf of organizing committees, I would like to express my great appreciation to Prof. C.Y. Chung, from the University of Saskatchewan (Canada), Prof. C.K. Sustainable and Resilient Infrastructure

Abstract:<span>Urban infrastructures, to fully take advantage of future investments, must first be recognized as interconnected complex systems of systems. This forum paper describes research and education needs that, if properly addressed, could prepare the civil engineering profession to meet the new challenges of urban infrastructure renovation. Among the needs, the objective documentation of the life-cycle performance of constructed systems could leverage novel sensing systems and advances in computer science, tools often untapped by civil engineering programs. Other needs and opportunities involve the design process, perhaps the most important milestone in the development of civil engineers. The topics and needs discussed in this paper could becomecore curriculum areas in newly developed postgraduate and eventually in undergraduate programs. The authors hypothesize that, if the integration of such topics is successful, civil engineers could become true protagonists of the rejuvenation of the US urban infrastructures and future stewards of cities and megacities.</span>

Abstract:6th International Symposium on Social Science and Management Innovation (SSMI 2024) was held in Macao, China during June 8-9, 2024. This conference was sponsored by Research Center of Engineering and Science, and was attended by academicians, researchers, entrepreneurs, government agencies and policy-makers, postgraduates from China and all over the world. The aim of the conference is to provide an interactive platform for the academicians, R & D organizations, industries, innovators, entrepreneurs, government agencies and policy-makers etc., from both China and abroad to exchange ideas on recent researches and advances in the domain of Social Science and Management Innovation with its prospective application in the various interdisciplinary domains of engineering. This two-day conference is being organized in technical association with Research Center of Engineering and Science and will include invited keynote talks and oral paper presentations from both academia and industry to ignite our young minds, to initiate them in the field of meaningful research and thereby enrich their existing knowledge. SSMI 2024 has received 97 manuscripts. And more than 20 submissions have been accepted by our reviewers and the Press. By submitting a paper to SSMI 2024, the authors agreed to the review process and understand that papers undergo a peer-review process. Manuscripts would be reviewed by appropriately qualified experts in the field selected by the Conference Committee, who would give detailed comments and-if the submission gets accepted-the authors submitted a revised version that considers this feedback. All papers were reviewed using a double-blind review process: authors declare their names and affiliations in the manuscript for the reviewers to see, but reviewers did not know each other's identities, nor did the authors receive information about who has reviewed their manuscript. The Committees invested great efforts in reviewing the papers submitted to the conference and organizing the sessions to enable the participants to gain maximum benefit. Abstract:Ecosystem services losses have worsened already serious urban problems such as heat island effects, urban flooding, and biodiversity losses. Urban ecological infrastructure (UEI) is the main carrier of ecosystem services in urban areas and provides a promising approach to combat such urban challenges and at the same time increases urban sustainability and resilience. The objectives of this special volume (SV) were to provide systematic reviews and discussions of the new governance, engineering and technologies available for improving UEI, which can be used to promote the development application of improved urban ecological engineering theories, methods and tools. Seven themes are included in this SV: (1) From civil infrastructure to ecological infrastructure: diagnoses and remedies of urban illnesses; (2) International experiences and lessons in urban “green-blue” ecological engineering to develop and to enforce standards for restoration of natural and social ecosystem services; (3) Implementation of integrated urban waste management, recycling and treatment policies and facilities; (4) Design and modify urban impervious surfaces through ecological engineering; (5) Urban aorta ecology, ecological mobility and livable corridors; (6) Integrative design criteria and cases of urban ecological infrastructure management; (7) The roles of urban ecological infrastructure in industrial parks and industrial clusters. This SV included forty-one, high-quality papers on theories and practices in UEI and in urban sustainability. Concepts, principles, theories, innovative assessment models, successful experiences, barriers to and enablers of UEI implementation were discussed. The authors provide a solid foundation and foster new inspiration to catalyze more ecologically sound and sustainable urbanization.

Abstract:CITIES International Conference is an annual international conference organized by the Urban and Regional Planning Department of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS Surabaya). The conference, which debuted in 2005, serves as a platform for academics and practitioners to present, disseminate, and discuss research results in the field of urban and regional planning. Through the efforts of all involved, CITIES has grown from a primarily national conference to one that attracts a diverse, worldwide audience from the Asian, European, Australian, and American continents. The CITIES International Conference in 2023 will take a grand design related to "TECHNOLOGY" and "INFRASTRUCTURE" in planning. Cities are centers of civilization, powerhouses of economic growth and innovation. However, urban planning faces challenges as cities transform into larger areas. One way to tackle this challenge is to embrace new technology trends that can help urban planners to help improve the quality of life in cities. Technology is becoming increasingly important in urban planning as a consequence of urban development, as well as ongoing changes, need to be projected. With this need in mind, CITIES International Conference 2023 is designed to be a meeting place for stakeholders, including academics, researchers, practitioners, and bureaucrats, both within and beyond national boundaries. The conference aims to disseminate research results and practical experiences at local, national, and global levels, and to share insight and recommendations on improving the quality of the city system in the future. This year, the CITIES International Conference 2023 will join the CIV-PLAN Join Conference organized by the Faculty of Civil, Planning, and Earth Engineering. The 1st edition of the CIV-PLAN Join Conference will be held in the city of Surabaya by elaborating on all departments in the faculty, including Civil Engineering, Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning, Geophysics, and Environmental Engineering. The theme raised in the joint conference is "SMART INFRASTRUCTURE FOR BETTER LIVING SOCIETY" which is held on October 25-26, 2023. The CITIES International Conference 2023 has agreed to be a part of the CIV-PLAN Joint Conference sub-event. It is hoped that with a joint conference like this, the CITIES International conference will be better known throughout the world and the cooperation that will be established will increase, especially for the media to exchange knowledge and maybe it will also be able to open relations with departments within the scientific cluster of the faculty of civil engineering, planning, and earth sciences. The CITIES conference has obtained a one-day slot (October 26) from the CIV-PLAN Joint Conference committee. On October 25, CITIES keynote speeches were given during the CIV-PLAN Joint Conference session by Prof. Tan Yigitcanlar (Queensland University of Technology) and Dr. Rulli Pratiwi Setiawan, S.T., M.Sc. (Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember). On the second day, parallel discussion sessions were held for all conference participants. These sessions were divided into three rooms based on the similarity of the sub-themes, including (1) Smart Infrastructure for Urban Development, (2) Sustainable Infrastructure Planning, and (3) Applied Technology for Planning. The committee closely monitored the event at the venue during these parallel discussion sessions. The time allocated for each speaker was 15 minutes, and the question-and- answer (Q&A) session for all presenters was 30 minutes. The Q&A session was carried out by both the moderator and other speakers on the panel. There are around 39 papers presented from various universities in Indonesia and abroad. In total, there were over 150 seminar participants from academic, government, and NGO institutions. Technically, the hybrid implementation of the CITIES conference went very smoothly. The participants' enthusiasm during the conference remained high until the end of the event, as evident from the active participation during the Q&A session. The only issue during the conference was that some speakers experienced network disruptions due to poor signal conditions. However, this did not dampen our enthusiasm to share knowledge and improve communication between participants and presenters across countries. Overall, the CITIES 2023 conference was successfully held and resulted in fruitful discussion during our plenary and parallel sessions. Abstract:Purpose Architectural programming, as a critical phase in construction projects, has been widely recognized for its importance and advantages throughout the construction process. With the rapid development of the socioeconomic landscape, architectural programming has garnered increasing attention from various other disciplines, becoming a key trend in interdisciplinary collaboration. This study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the current status and future directions of architectural programming from an interdisciplinary perspective through scientometric analysis and systematic review. Design/methodology/approach This study first collected English journal articles on architectural programming published between 1975 and 2024 from the Web of Science and Scopus databases. After an initial screening of titles and abstracts, 515 articles were selected for scientometric analysis to reveal the current state and advantages of architectural programming research in multidisciplinary fields. Subsequently, a second screening of full-text articles identified 75 journal articles for systematic review, focusing on research topics and challenges in interdisciplinary applications. Findings The study reveals an exponential increase in the number of papers related to architectural programming between 1975 and 2024, particularly in the last decade. Six key research topics of architectural programming in multidisciplinary fields were identified: (1) performance optimization and evaluation, (2) digitalization and automation development, (3) project management and decision support, (4) improvement of human and social welfare, (5) sustainable resources and environment and (6) educational practices of architectural programming. Additionally, the study identified the main challenges in the interdisciplinary application of architectural programming, including (1) incompatibility among disciplines, (2) limitations of data and methodologies and (3) insufficient social engagement. To address these challenges, three potential future directions were proposed: (1) establishing interdisciplinary teams and platforms, (2) enhancing multi-source data integration and digital transformation and (3) improving governance mechanisms and educational training. Originality/value By combining quantitative and qualitative methods, this study provides a comprehensive review of architectural programming research and applications in multidisciplinary fields, offering theoretical foundations and practical references for the future development of architectural programming. This review not only aids in understanding the overall status of current architectural programming research but also offers valuable insights and recommendations for future research directions and practical applications.

Abstract:Menghao Qin1 and Carsten Rode1 1Department of Civil Engineering, Technical University of Denmark, Lyngby, 2800, Denmark Emails: car@byg.dtu.dk menqin@byg.dtu.dk The 8th International Building Physics Conference (IBPC 2021) took place online during August 25-27, 2021. IBPC 2021 was organized by the Technical University of Denmark in cooperation with Aalborg University, Aarhus University, University of Southern Denmark, and Lund University. More than 370 participants from 37 countries worldwide attended the conference. IBPC 2021 is the eighth edition of the official triennial conference of the International Association of Building Physics (IABP). The IBPC 2021 unites researchers, practitioners, educators, and students from the construction sector worldwide. We meet to exchange new research and innovative technologies and to discuss current and future challenges and sustainable solutions within building physics. This year, IBPC was held as a virtual meeting due to the impact of COVID-19 and the limitations on the entry and exit. IBPC 2021 used PheedLoop and Zoom as the platform holding the online conference. There were 170 oral presentations and 100 poster presentations were arranged during the three-day conference. Every presentation was about 15 minutes, including 3 minutes for the Q&A part. Authors made their presentations on the topics covering all aspects of building physics. Though the authors and speakers couldn’t communicate face to face, the passion for involvement wasn’t affected. Papers have been gathered through a call issued in August 2020. We received around 420 submissions from 45 countries. We employed a single-blind peer-review process involving scholars of various fields related to Building Physics as reviewers. At the end of the reviewing process, 248 papers were accepted for the conference proceedings - Journal of Physics: Conference Series. Here we would like to thank all the scientific committee members who made great efforts on paper reviewing. The appreciation also goes to other organizing committee members, program chairs, keynote/invited speakers, session chairs and all the authors. Thanks for their understanding and support in this special time. We hope all the participants had a wonderful time during the conference and got fruitful inspiration from the presentations delivered by speakers and authors. Given the high-quality works done by authors, reviewers, and other committee members, we are confident that the IBPC 2021 proceedings capture the current state of the research in the related fields and hope it will motivate some of you in the longer term.
