Abstract:The International Symposium on Rethinking the Development of China: From Cultural and Social Perspectives was held in Cambridge where Harvard University is located on April 24th and 25th, 2008. Present at this symposium are over 30 anthropologists and sociologists from Harvard University, Boston University, University of California Davis, State University of New York at Albany, the University of Vermont, Davidson College of the United States and Sun Yat-sen University, Fudan University, Zhejiang University, Guangxi University for Nationalities, South Central University for Nationalities, China Agricultural University and Shanghai University of China. The participants carried out discussion and international dialogues on issues of international and domestic migration, neighborhood and communities, state and society, females, religions, cyber games, village election, ethnic culture and tourism, livelihood and culture, social transformation and development, etc.
