Abstract:A general and facile one-pot protocol for the preparation of a broad range of alkyl and aryl isothiocyanates has been developed from their corresponding primary amines under aqueous conditions. This synthetic process involves an in situ generation of a dithiocarbamate salt from the amine substrate by reacting with CS(2) followed by elimination to form the isothiocyanate product with cyanuric acid as the desulfurylation reagent. The choice of solvent is of decisive importance for the successful formation of the dithiocarbamate salt particularly for highly electron-deficient substrates. This novel and economical method is suitable for scale-up activities.

Abstract:Several simple and convenient transformations of imines and aziridines under mild conditions have been developed, rendering access to several kinds of beta-amino derivatives, alpha-amino nitriles and phosphonates, aziridines, and conjugated dienes from imines and aziridines under neutral and metal-free conditions very conveniently. High stereoselectivities are realized in most reactions based upon mechanistic considerations.

Abstract:Catalytic insertion or addition of a metal-imido/nitrene species, generated from reaction of a transition-metal catalyst with iminoiodanes, to C-H and C=C bonds offers a convenient and atom economical method for the synthesis of nitrogen-containing compounds. Following this groundbreaking discovery during the second half of the last century, the field has received an immense amount of attention with a myriad of impressive metal-mediated methods for the synthesis of amines and aziridines having been developed. This review will cover the significant progress made in improving the efficiency, versatility and stereocontrol of this important reaction. This will include the various iminoiodanes, their in situ formation, and metal catalysts that could be employed and new ligands, both chiral and non-chiral, which have been designed, as well as the application of this functional group transformation to natural product synthesis and the preparation of bioactive compounds of current therapeutic interest.

Abstract:β -Amino acids are important structural units in chemistry and biology. Herein we reported a method to synthesize β -amino nitriles, the crucial synthetic precursor to β -amino acids. By using a nucleophilic base-complex, in situ generated from TMSCF 3 and CsF, addition of acetonitrile to a series of aromatic imines offered the corresponding β -amino nitriles in excellent yields. Moreover, other electron withdrawing group bearing methyl group could be deprotonated to produce a good nucleophile under this mild conditions.

Abstract:A novel and efficient iron(III)-catalyzed synthesis of 1,2,4-trisubstituted imidazoles through the reactions of amidines and aldehydes in air has been developed. Five hydrogen dissociations involving CH and NH bond activation are realized under mild conditions in this approach. The procedure is sustainable, simple and environmentally friendly.

Abstract:A mechanochemical synthesis of sulfonimidamides by iron(II)-catalyzed exogenous ligand-free N-acyl nitrene transfer to sulfinamides is reported. The one-step method tolerates a wide range of sulfinamides with various substituents under solvent-free ambient conditions. Compared to its solution-phase counterpart, this mechanochemical approach shows better conversion and chemoselectivity. Mechanistic investigations by ESI-MS revealed the generation of crucial nitrene iron intermediates.
