Abstract:A copper-catalyzed aerobic oxidative intramolecular alkene C-H amination has been developed using readily available substituted 3-benzylidene-2-pyridin-2-ylmethyl-2,3-dihydro-isoindol-1-ones as the starting materials, and the corresponding N-heterocycles were obtained in good to excellent yields. This method should provide a new and useful strategy for constructing N-heterocycles.

Abstract:Although copper-catalyzed amination of activated C(sp3)-H bonds through radical relay has been developed, amination of unactivated C(sp3)-H bonds is rare. Herein, copper-catalyzed intramolecular amination of remote unactivated C(sp3)-H bonds is reported. The reaction is conducted in a mild and effective manner with moderate to good yields, demonstrating broad tolerance toward various functional groups and exhibiting complete regio- and chemoselectivities. This innovation supplies novel synthetic pathways for the construction of saturated nitrogenated heterocycles.

Abstract:A highly efficient copper-catalyzed aerobic oxidative intramolecular C-H amination has been developed using substituted 2-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)-N-alkylbenzenamines as the starting materials, and the corresponding imidazobenzimidazole derivatives were obtained in excellent yields. Abstract:A novel copper-catalyzed aerobic oxidative C(CO)-C(alkyl) bond cleavage reaction of aryl alkyl ketones for C-N bond formation is described. A series of acetophenone derivatives as well as more challenging aryl ketones with long-chain alkyl substituents could be selectively cleaved and converted into the corresponding amides, which are frequently found in biologically active compounds and pharmaceuticals.

Abstract:The cross-coupling of C-N bond directly from inert C-H bonds is an ideal approach to synthesize saturated azacycles due to its high efficiency and atom economy. In this article, a copper-catalyzed intramolecular amination via the cross coupling of C(sp(3))-H and N-H bonds of secondary amine has been reported, which exhibit excellent chemo- and regioselectivity, extensive substrate scope, and functional group tolerance in good to excellent yield, offering an efficient pathway to build nitrogen-containing heterocycle skeletons.

Abstract:A general and efficient copper-catalyzed aerobic oxidative method for the synthesis of N-fused heterocycles has been developed by using readily available α-amino acids as the nitrogen source. The reactions underwent N-arylation, aerobic oxidative dehydrogenation, intramolecular cyclization and dissociation of formic acid. This method should provide a general and practical strategy for the construction of N-fused heterocycles. © 2013 The Royal Society of Chemistry.
