Abstract:Effizient und praktisch: Die Titelreaktion ergibt eine effiziente Route zu α-Ketoamiden, geläufigen Struktureinheiten in einer Reihe biologisch aktiver Verbindungen. N-substituierte Aniline sind geeignete Substrate für diese Umwandlung. Zwei C-H-, eine C-H- und eine N-H-Bindung werden bei dieser Reaktion gespalten. Abstract:A copper-catalyzed aerobic oxidative cross-dehydrogenative coupling (CDC) of amine with α-carbonyl aldehyde has been developed. Many types of amines are tolerant in this transformation leading to various α-ketoamides compounds. Wide substrate scope, CDC strategy and using air as oxidant make this transformation highly efficient and practical. Molecular oxygen acts not only as the oxidant, but also as an initiator to trigger this catalytic process. Furthermore, mechanism studies show that carbonyl group of α-carbonyl aldehyde plays a role as the directing group to facilitate this chemical process.

Abstract:The reaction of o-aminoacetophenones and arylboronic acids catalyzed by copper(II) salts in the presence of pyridine under an O2 atmosphere provides a general and efficient one-pot preparation of biologically interesting acridones. This relay reaction comprises an intermolecular Suzuki cross-coupling, intramolecular oxidative C(sp3)-H amination, and C(sp2)-H activation with simultaneous rearrangement of the generated isatin intermediates. This strategy tolerates both electron-donating and -withdrawing functionalities to afford various acridones in good to excellent yields.

Abstract:Efficient copper-catalyzed aerobic oxidative C-H and C-C functionalization of 1-[2-(arylamino)aryl]ethanones leading to acridones has been developed. The procedure involves cleavage of aromatic C-H and acetyl C-C bonds with intramolecular formation of a diarylketone bond. The protocol uses inexpensive Cu(O2CCF3)2 as catalyst, pyridine as additive, and economical and environmentally friendly oxygen as the oxidant, and the corresponding acridones with various functional groups were obtained in moderate to good yields.

Abstract:A copper‐catalysed (diacetoxyiodo)benzene‐promoted aerobic esterification reaction of acetoacetamides was developed for the synthesis of oxamates, which are useful precursors in synthetic organic chemistry. This practical and mild synthetic approach proceeded at 25 °C under open‐air conditions and afforded methyl 2‐oxo‐2‐(phenylamino)acetates in good to excellent yields combined with C−C σ‐bond cleavage and formal oxidative C−H bond functionalization. A mechanism is proposed.

Abstract:A photoinduced copper-catalyzed alkoxyl triggered C−C bond cleavage/aminocarbonylation cascade is presented. Through adjusting the structure of alkoxyl radical precursors, functionalized lactones and keto-amides were synthesized with good yields and excellent functional group tolerance under redox-neutral conditions. Notably, this protocol enables the integration of lactone fragments with many amine drugs and drug fragments.

Abstract:AbstractA novel copper‐catalyzed, multiple oxidative dehydrogenative functionalization of arylacetaldehydes leading to 2‐oxo‐acetamidine compounds has been developed. This transformation is highly efficient with dissociation of six hydrogens including two sp3 CH and one sp2 CH bond activations. This method not only provides an efficient approach to 2‐oxo‐acetamidine compounds, but also offers a valuable mechanistic insight into this novel copper catalysis.

Abstract:A novel copper-catalyzed aerobic oxidative C(CO)-C(alkyl) bond cleavage reaction of aryl alkyl ketones for C-N bond formation is described. A series of acetophenone derivatives as well as more challenging aryl ketones with long-chain alkyl substituents could be selectively cleaved and converted into the corresponding amides, which are frequently found in biologically active compounds and pharmaceuticals.
