Abstract:A copper-catalyzed method for the coupling of alkenyl halides with secondary amines has been developed. This protocol used a combination of 10 mol % copper iodide and 20 mol % N,N'-dimethylethane-1,2-diamine as catalyst. The reaction proceeded with various aromatic amines and alkenyl bromides or alkenyl iodides, and the enamines were formed in high yields with excellent regioselectivity and stereoselectivity under the reaction conditions.

Abstract:Copper acetate-catalyzed C-H bond functionalization amination of quinoline N-oxides was achieved using O-benzoyl hydroxylamine as an electrophilic amination reagent, thereby affording the desired products in moderate to excellent yields. Electrophilic amination can also be performed in good yield on a gram scale.

Abstract:A copper-catalyzed mono-selective C-H amination of ferrocenes assisted by 8-aminoquinoline is presented here. A range of amines, including bioactive molecules, were successfully installed to the ortho-position of ferrocene amides with high efficiency under mild conditions. A range of functionalized ferrocenes were compatible to give the aminated products in moderate to good yields. The gram-scale reaction was smoothly conducted and the directing group could be removed easily under basic conditions.

Abstract:A novel methodology for the primary amination of aromatic C(sp2)-H bond utilizing hydroxylamine derivative as ammonia surrogates has been developed. With a cost-effective and convenient copper oxide, a variety of aromatic primary amines were synthesized without external oxidant with moderate to good yields under the mild conditions. This amination exhibits excellent functional group tolerance, wide substrate scope, the use of readily available substrates, and a facile work-up procedure. Furthermore, the late-stage modification of drug-like small molecules with complex structures was also allowed.

Abstract:A copper-catalyzed intermolecular electrophilic amination of benzamides with O-benzoyl hydroxylamines was achieved with the assistance of an 8-aminoquinolyl group. With this protocol, good compatibility was observed for a variety of aryl amides and heteroaryl amides, and excellent tolerance with various functional groups was achieved. Significantly, the monoaminated product was overwhelmingly delivered under the simple reaction conditions. Preliminary mechanistic investigations suggested that a radical pathway should be excluded and C-H activation be potentially the rate-determining step.
