Abstract:Using non-reset architecture,a take/hold circuit for 10 bit 100 MS/s ADC is implemented in SMIC 0.18 μm CMOS process.Simulation result proved the implementation.The core of T/H circuit-OTA is fabricated. The measured results have shown that the OTA works fluently and the power consumption is near that simulated.

Abstract:In this paper, a high gain, high speed operational trans-conductance amplifier (OTA) is designed and implemented in TSMC 0.18μm mixed signal process. Gain-boost technique and other optimal designs are used to meet the requirements. Simulation result shows that the OTA can attain 120dB DC-gain, a unity gain bandwidth of 1.12GHz and a settling time of 4ns to 0.001% accuracy with 4pF load and 3.3V voltage supply. An S/H circuit is also designed using this OTA, with 81.2dB SNDR and 100.9dB SFDR for 10MHz input. The S/H circuit is used in 14bit 100MHz Pipeline ADC.

Abstract:A sample/hold (S/H) circuit for a 14 bit 100 MSample/s analog-to-digital converter is implemented and optimized. High performance gain-boosted folded-cascode opamp (GBFCA) and bootstrapped switches are used to maximize SNDR and SFDR of the S/H circuit. An optimal design criterion is developed to find the best solution giving the shortest settling time. After eliminating the slow-settling component in signal path, the sample S/H circuit achieves 5ns settling time to 0.001%, 81.2 dB SNDR and 100 dB SFDR for 10 MHz input signals.

Abstract:A circuit technique for designing a high speed sample-and-hold circuit is proposed. A substrate-biasing-effect attenuated T switch is used during the hold mode of sample-and-hold circuit, the T type structure makes the input-dependent signal feed-through effect neglectable, and a high linearity performance can be assured. Based on SMIC 0.13μm Standard CMOS process, a sample-and-hold circuit applicable to 12bit, 100MHz Pipelined ADC is designed. Spectre simulation results show that the using this technique can improve the dynamic performance and the signal-to-noise and distortion ratio (SNADR) and spurs free dynamic range (SFDR) of the sample-and-hold circuit is 85.5 and 92.87dB, respectively, under the Nyquist input frequency .

Abstract:A low power sample-and-hold circuit for a 10-bit 20 MS/s pipelined A/D converter has been designed,which is implemented in a 0.6 μm double-poly double-metal CMOS process.The S/H circuit is realized in switched-capacitor topology.Differential signal input topology is used to make the circuit less sensitive to interference.A common-mode feedback circuit is also used to stabilize the common-mode output to a desired level,thus improving the precision of the S/H.Furthermore,the S/H circuit consumes only 5 mW power at 5 V supply voltage with a low power operational transconductance amplifier(OTA).The A/D converter based on this S/H circuit achieves a SNDR of 58 dB at 20 MHz sampling rate,and the power dissipation is only 49 mW.

Abstract:A sample and hold circuit used in the front end of Pipelined ADCs is designed. The performance index of all the sub-circuit are analyzed from the requirement of 12 bit,100MHz Analog-to-Digital Converters theoretically, and then the sub-circuit such as gain-boosted OTA、bootstrap switch is designed according to the above requirements. Base on SMIC 0.13μm, 3.3V technique, Spectre simulation shows that SINAD, SFDR and ENOB can reach 81.9dB, 94.9dB, and 13.3bit respectively,with only 24mw power consumption. Even the input signal is up to Nyquist frequency, its SINAD and SFDR can still keep 81.5dB and 92.67dB along with the 13.2bit ENOB.

Abstract:A sample-and-hold circuit utilized in high speed integrator array is designed. A new T type switch which can restrain the substrate biasing effect is designed to replace the traditional CMOS transmission gate switch. Thus, the linearity of the switch’s turn-on resistance can be assured because the changes of threshold voltage caused by the substrate biasing effect is limited. Also,this new T type structure can reduce the charge feed through effect under high frequency input,thus,a better turn-off isolation characteristic can be achieved . Based on SMIC 0. 13 μm Standard CMOS technique,a sample-and-hold circuit applicable to the CMOS image sensor is designed. Spectre simulation results show that the Signal-to-Noise Distortion Ratio and Spurs Free Dynamic Range is 85. 5 dB and 92. 87 dB respectively under the Nyquist input frequency,the power consumption is only 32. 8 mW.

Abstract:A high performance CMOS sample and hold (S/H) circuit for use in the front end of a 12bit 100MS/s ADC is presented.It achieves a 108dB spurious-free dynamic range and 77dB signal-to-noise ratio over the Nyquist band at a 100MHz sampling frequency with a 3V power supply.An analysis model for the S/H circuit is built to capture the switching effect.The impact of the switches’ arrangement is also addressed.The leakage in a conventional bootstrapped switch is analyzed and some improvements are made,enhancing the linearity significantly.

Abstract:A high performance CMOS sample/hold circuit is presented,which achieves the precision of 10bit over Nyquist band in 50MHz sampling frequency at 3.3V supply.This circuit uses full differential circuits,bottom-plate sampling,bootstrap circuits and a high performance gain-boost operational amplifier.Simulation in 0.35μm CMOS process shows the circuit consumes 18mW of power.

Abstract:A 10-bit 20-Msample/s CMOS pipelined analog-to-digital converter (ADC) is proposed, which is implemented in a 0.6/spl mu/m double-poly double-metal CMOS process. The digital correction technique is used to relax the offset requirement of the comparators. To reduce signal-dependent charge injection and substrate noise injection, the bottom-plate sampling technology is applied. A sample-and-hold amplifier (SHA) is also used to improve the signal-to-noise and distortion ratio (SNDR) performance and the linearity of ADC. The circuit is simulated by the Hspice software which is based on CSMCs library of 0.6/spl mu/m mixed-signal CMOS model. The simulation results reveal that the ADC designed with this method achieves the SNDR of 58dB at full speed of 20MHz when input frequency is 5MHz. Furthermore, the ADC consumes 49mW power at 5V supply voltage with a low power operational transconductance amplifier (OTA) and the dynamic comparators.

Abstract:A 150MS/s 10-bit MOS-inverter-based subranging analog-to-digital converter (ADC) dedicated to a high-speed low-power application is presented in this paper. A new time constant reduction technique is proposed in the multi-stage preamplifier design which aims to further increase the speed of the coarse ADC. A synchronized switch is introduced to minimize the sample-time mismatch in the interleaved architecture of fine ADCs. An internal pipelined scheme incorporating the double sampling and interleaving techniques in fine ADCs allows the ADC sample input signal to run on a consecutive clock, thus maximizing the throughput. The prototype ADC achieves 52dB SNDR for a 10MHz input frequency at 150MS/s. Without calibration, the measured differential nonlinearity (DNL) is 0.5 LSB, while the integral nonlinearity (INL) is 0.9 LSB. The CMOS ADC is fabricated in a 0.35µm CMOS technology, with an active area of 2.7mm2, consuming only 178mW from a single 3V supply. Comparing technology normalized figure-of-merits, it achieves better power-speed efficiency than other similar types of ADCs.

Abstract:This paper presents a design of a high speed, high accuracy. low voltage sample and hold circuit used in pipeline analog to digital converter for wireless communication applications in 65nm CMOS technology. Due to the low intrinsic gain of 65nm process, an OTA with simplified class A/B output stage and gain-boosting technique is introduced in the circuit, acquiring a gain of more than 80dB, so as to achieve a 14-bit linearity and a rail-to-rail output swing as well with low power consumption. The linearity issue of the switches is also taken into consideration. The simulation result shows a maximum SFDR of 96.3dB at 11MHz, 95.0dB at 149MHz and 87.1dB at 405MHz input frequency under a sampling rate of 250MS/s.

Abstract:High-speed Photonic Analog-to-Digital Convertor (ADC) has attracted intense interest of researchers for the past three decades, for it has the potential applications in areas that have extreme bandwidth requirements, such as radio astronomy, real-time measurements and so on. Photonic ADCs can be categorized into two major classes: optical assisted ADC and all-optical ADC. In optical assisted ADC, the sampling is performed in optical domain and the quantization is done in electrical domain. In all-optical ADC, the sampling, quantization and coding are done in optical domain. Optical assisted ADC combines the ultra-stable, ultra-low time jitter characterizations of mode-locked lasers and mature high-speed electronic circuits, therefore it is much easier to implement in practical systems. However, the ultra-short (less than tens of pico-seconds) post-sampling pulse sequence required by high resolution ADC places a challenge for the following electrical processing, because ultra-high-speed (>2GHz) "integrate-hold" circuits are hard to design and manufacture. In this paper, an optical hold module (OHM) is proposed, theoretically analyzed, numerically simulated and experimentally demonstrated, which can be used to replace ultra-high-speed "integrate-hold" circuits and has more merits than the latter. This optical hold module has potential applications in several other areas, such as fiber sensors, and so on.

Abstract:A 10-bit 30-Msample/s pipelined analog-to-digital converter is designed and implemented in a 0.6μm CMOS technology. Sampling capacitors scaling technique is employed to reduce the power dissipation. The digital correction technique is used to relax the offset requirement of the comparators. Abstract:A 1.0GHz signal bandwidth 8-bit folding and interpolating analog-to-digital converter (ADC) is presented, whose Fom is only 42fJ/Conv-step. In this design, averaging resistors and interpolating resistors are shared, which can be save pr-amplifiers and active interpolators. Grouped T/H blocks are adopted to cancel the voltage buffer between the T/H block and the pre-amplifiers array. A new full-digital T/H switch is proposed to cancel the bootstrapped capacitor, which can save the area of chip grandly. A new linear and continues offset voltages of dynamic comparator calibration method is presented. This ADC implemented in 65nm CMOS technology achieves SNDR of 48.5dB and SFDR of 58.7dB for 479.5MHz input frequency at the rate of 1.0-GS/s. And the SNDR and SFDR maintain above 48 dB and 55dB, respectively, up to 995.1MHz. The power consumption is only 17mW with a supply voltage of 1.2V.

Abstract:A 10 bit 50 MS/s CMOS pipeline A/D converter is implemented in a 1.8 V, 0.18 μm CMOS process. Circuit techniques used to achieve low power consumption include a dynamic comparator, an optimal capacitor, and OTA. Resetting T/H and MADC is adopted to cancel the offset of the OTA. the non-dominant pole of the OTA is optimized to make the OTA work stably. Measured performances include -0.6-0.7 LSB of DNL and 44.9 dB of SINAD with 5.1 MHz input at 50 Msample/s. The ADC, with a 57.6 mW power consumption and a 0.8 mV input offset, occupies a core area of 0.52 mm2.

Abstract:An undersampling high resolution low power sample-and-hold circuit is presented,which achieves a resolution over 11 bits at 90 MHz input frequency and 40 MHz sampling rate.A flip-around S/H circuit is used to eliminate the capacitor mismatch,and a gate-voltage bootstrapped switch is adopted for improved linearity.The undersampling condition could be realized.A high-gain large-bandwidth low-power gain-boost telescopic cascode amplifier is designed.Implemented in 0.35 μm CMOS process,the circuit operates at 3.3 V supply voltage with only(7.6 mW) of power dissipation.

Abstract:In this paper, a 10-bit 50-MS/s analog-to-digital converter (ADC) is presented. A power consumption of 10.6 mW is designed by using low power gain-boosted OP-Amp and dynamic comparator. Bootstrapped switch achieves rail-to-rail signal swing at low-voltage power supply. This circuit is designed in a SMIC 1.2-V 0.13-um CMOS technology. The results show that the proposed Nyquist rate ADC provides a potential solution for low-power high-speed applications, e.g., DVB-H, DVB-T and WLANs.

Abstract:A high performance sample and hold circuit with the full differential capacitor flip-around architecture,which decreased the noise and power consumption efficiently,was presented.In the circuit design,the new gate voltage bootstrapped switch for constant Vgs was used to reduce significantly nonlinear distortion,and DC drift of the input signal was effectively rejected.It was implemented by 0.18 μm 1P-6M CMOS twin-well process,and an 86.88 dB spurious-free dynamic range(SFDR)and a 73.50 dB peak signal-to-noise plus distortion ratio(SNDR)over the first Nyquist band were obtained with a sampling rate of 32 MHz and a single 1.8 V power supply.Finally,the layout of the circuit and first test waveform of the chip were presented.The result shows the circuit realizes the function of sample and hold.

Abstract:A high performance 10-bit 100-MS/s two-channel time-interleaved pipelined ADC is designed for intermediate frequency 3G receivers, and OTA is shared among the channels for low power dissipation. Offset mismatch, gain mismatch and time skew mismatch are overcome by OTA sharing, increasing the accuracy of each channel and global passive sampling respectively. The linearity deterioration caused by the charge injection of the output switch and the crosstalk of the off-switch capacitor is removed by modifying the clock signal arrangement. The total power consumption of the presented ADC is 70 mW from a 3.3-V power supply. Fabricated in a 180-nm CMOS process, the core of the prototype occupies an area of 2.5 × 1.5 mm2, achieving more than 70-dB spurious-free dynamic range and over 56-dB signal-to-noise distortion ratio over the Nyquist input band at 100-MHz sampling frequency.
