Abstract:A mild and efficient method for the synthesis of 2,5-disubstituted chalcogenophenes is reported. This method involves two steps of reactions via one-pot approach by employing commercially available and cost-effective alkynes and element chalcogen. Further, by using LiNH2 as the promoter and DMSO/EtOH as the solvent, Cu-catalyzed Glaser coupling-cycloaddition processes are dramatically enhanced that a diverse range of chalcogenophenes can be obtained in good to excellent yields under mild conditions. Controlled experiments show that trisulfur radical anion (S3 & sdot;-) is the key intermediate and DMSO/EtOH serves as the hydrogen source, while alcohol may facilitate the transition state. The mild and highly efficient constructions of 2,5-disubstitued thiophenes, selenophenes and tellurophenes are achieved by using a one-pot, two-step protocol that combine Cu-catalyzed Glaser coupling with LiNH2-mediated cycloaddition. And the DMSO/EtOH mixture solvent is found to short the reaction time and improve the reaction yield by promoting the production of S3 & sdot;- and stabilizing the transition state.image

Abstract:A one-pot two-step reaction of 4-aminocoumarin with arylglyoxal monohydrates and p-toluenesulfonates has been developed, which offers 3-alkoxy-substituted chromeno[4,3-b]pyrrol-4(1H)-ones in moderate to good yields. At first, arylglyoxal monohydrates and 4-aminocoumarin were converted into 3-hydroxychromeno[4,3-b]pyrrol-4(1H)-one intermediates in AcOH under reflux. Then the title compounds in an in situ reaction of the intermediates with p-toluenesulfonates catalyzed by DBU in refluxing toluene were obtained.

Abstract:A concise and efficient synthetic approach was developed for the synthesis of functionalized chromeno[4,3-b]pyrrol-4(1H)-ones via a one-pot, three-component reaction of 4-aminocoumarin, arylglyoxal monohydrates, and aromatic amines promoted by KHSO4 in toluene under reflux condition. The attractive features of this protocol are operational simplicity, short reaction time, easy purification of products and good to excellent yields.

Abstract:The reaction of o-aminoacetophenones and arylboronic acids catalyzed by copper(II) salts in the presence of pyridine under an O2 atmosphere provides a general and efficient one-pot preparation of biologically interesting acridones. This relay reaction comprises an intermolecular Suzuki cross-coupling, intramolecular oxidative C(sp3)-H amination, and C(sp2)-H activation with simultaneous rearrangement of the generated isatin intermediates. This strategy tolerates both electron-donating and -withdrawing functionalities to afford various acridones in good to excellent yields.

Abstract:A highly regioselective synthesis of 2,3-disubstituted chromen-4-one derivatives is accomplished from readily available internal alkynes and 2-methoxybenzoyl chlorides. The reaction proceeds via a domino intermolecular Friedel-Crafts acylation/intramolecular vinyl carbocation trapping (or oxa-Michael addition)/demethylation reaction sequence. This Lewis acid promoted method features relatively mild reaction conditions to synthesize a variety of 2,3-disubstituted chromen-4-one derivatives in one pot with up to 93% yield. The chromen-2-one (coumarin) product was obtained when 2,6-dimethoxybenzoyl chloride was used as a starting material via an electrophilic aromatic substitution/rearrangement process.

Abstract:1,8-Diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undec-7-ene (DBU) was used as a mild and efficient catalyst for synthesis of various dihydropyrano[3,2- c ]chromene-3-carboxylate derivatives via one-pot, three-component condensation of aromatic aldehydes, active methylene and 4-hydroxycoumarin in ethanol under reflux. The distinctive features of this process are mild reaction conditions, reusability of the reaction media, short reaction time, easy isolation of products and good yield. In addition, the effect of electron donating and withdrawing groups on the reactivity of chromene derivatives was investigated and evaluated by quantum chemical tools. For this purpose, the FMO analyses were performed and considered in terms of the new perspectives of the C-DFT. Also, the NBO analyses of the chromene derivatives were conducted to look for and compare the resonance and inductive effect on the possible reactivity behaviors.
