Abstract:The compound inorganic pigment of the titanium dioxide(TiO2)/white mineral powder have been made by mechno-comminution method and the properties of this compound inorganic pigment such as the granularity,whiteness and covering degree,were studied.The results showed that with the increase of the matching ratio of TiO2,the granularity of the compound inorganic pigment minished and the whiteness and the covering degree of it all increased.When the matching ratio of TiO2/white mineral powder was 50/50,the covering degree of the compound inorganic pigment was high comparatively.
Preparation of TiO2/SiO2 Composite by Chemical Coating Method

Abstract:As compared to TiO2 photo-catalyst,the surface activity,photocatalytic activity and thermal stability of TiO2/SiO2 composite catalyst,which prepared using SiO2 as carrier or nuclear,are better.The precipitated silica was obtained from fly ash.The titania/silica(TiO2/SiO2) composite was prepared by chemical coating method using precipitated silica and tetrabutyl titanate as precursors.The composite was characterized by means of X-ray difractometry,FT-IR spectroscopy and TG-DTA analysis.It is confirmed that the silica is efficiently coated by titania through FT-IR spectroscopy and TG-DTA analysis.The TiO2/SiO2 composite possesses high thermal stability.The phase of silica remains amorphous and titania is anatase after the composite calcined at 700 ℃ for 4 h.While,titania transforms into rutile when calcined at 900 ℃.

Abstract:Titanium dioxide was modified by coupling agents and characterized with grain size, zeta potential, etc, in order to obtain the optimum systhesis conditions.The results show that titanate coupling agent could successfully modify titanate powder, which increases the dispersion effect of the powder in polyvinyl alcohol.The coupled powders were dispersed in polyvinyl alcohol, and then coated on the BOPP film substrates, thus achieving the titanium dioxide coating films with photocatalytic properties.The above coating films were analyzed by micro gloss tester, friction coefficient tester, and fog degree instrument.The film shows good mechanical properties, dispersion effect with 1% of the modified powder.In the bactericidal effect was examined the film with 2% TiO2 can achive the best antibacterial effect of 99.2% and in the photodegradation experiment, the degradation rate increased nearly 70 times.

Abstract:Titanium dioxide is currently the most important white pigment material used in the world and its surface properties are very important for consumer industries such as paints, papermaking and plastics. If agglomerates are present, the down-stream product properties such as gloss, opacity, and storage stability will be greatly affected. The addition of organic surface treatment agents onto the surface of titanium dioxide particles can change its surface: reduce the inter-particle forces to reduce particle agglomerates; change the hydrophobic or hydrophilic properties of particle surface to enhance the compatibility with the solvent, water, or organic resin; can also improve the particle mobility and industrial processing. Therefore, it is very important to fully understand the interaction mechanism between pigment particles and functional organic surface treatment agents. This paper summarizes the related research results and progress.

Abstract:Surface organic modification was conducted to TiO2 with modifiers to improve the dispersity and comparability of pigment TiO2 in application system by adjusting particle surface characteristics. Then, modification effects were characterized according to the changes in wetting contact angle and activation index of TiO2 before and after modification. Moreover, the modification mechanisms of sodium stearate and sodium oleate were studied by analyzing the characteristics of TiO2 surface functional groups in modification system and effects of modifiers. The results showed that, after being wet-processed with sodium stearate and sodium oleate, TiO2 could turn from surface hydrophilic to inductive hydrophobic with controllable degree. The wetting contact angle of modified TiO2 increased from 7° to 125.6° and 121.3°, respectively. The dispersity of TiO2 in organic medium was stronger than that in inorganic medium. The modifiers formed absorption with chemical property on TiO2 particle surface, so the inductive hydrophobicity of surface was stable.

Abstract:The methods of preparation for titania film including sol-gel painting-on or dip-coating, electrodeposition, chemical vapor deposition, physical vapor deposition, self-assembly method and spray pyrolysis technology are reviewed. The advantages and disadvantages of different methods are described. Some opinions on further studies on the preparation of TiO2 film are also presented.

Abstract:The pore structure in nano-porous TiO2 coatings influences the ion diffusion property and the photovoltaic performance of dye-sensitized solar cells. In this paper, TiO2 coatings were deposited by vacuum cold spray (VCS) using a strengthened nanostructured powder. The pore structure, ion diffusion, and dye infiltration properties were examined to understand the coating deposition mechanism. Results showed that the pores in the VCS TiO2 coatings presented a bimodal size distribution with two peaks at ~15 and ~50 nm. Based on the impact behavior of spray powder particles, a deposition model was proposed to explain the formation mechanism of the pores in the VCS coating using strengthened nanostructured powder. It was found that, compared to the conventional unimodal-sized nano-pores in TiO2 coatings, the bimodal-sized nano-pores contributed to a higher ion diffusion coefficient of the coatings and thereby a higher photovoltage of the solar cells.

Abstract:In-depth understanding of the nature of oxide film in the Ti powder surface was investigated at an atomic scale in terms of quantitative composition, spatial distribution and thickness. The oxide film consists of TiO2, Ti2O3 and TiO with a continuous spatial distribution, acquired from the atomic ratio of O/Ti by EELS and APT. Composition and structure of the oxide film were thoroughly explored based on the oxygen-atomic diffusion theory and thermodynamic analysis to uncover the oxidation mechanism of the Ti powders. This study opens opportunities to gauge the powder properties, optimize the subsequent processing, and improve the final performance.

Abstract:Abstract The pore structure in nano-porous TiO2 coating influences the ion diffusion property and photovoltaic performance of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSC). One-Step Synthesis and Characterization of Titanium Dioxide Powder for Plastic Modification

Abstract:A surface-modified titanium dioxide powder used for plastic modification was synthesized by one-step precipitating method at a low temperature using tetrabutyl titanate,nitric acid and vinyltriethoxysilane as raw materials.Microstructure of the composites were characterized by X-ray diffraction,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and transmission electron microscope.The results indicate that the silane is grafted to the surface of single TiO2 particle by Ti-O-Si bond.The contact angle of the modified TiO2 with water is 144°,and the TiO2 particles can stably distribute in xylene and homoge-neously mix with the high density polyethylene.

Studies on the aggregation rate of Si and Al indicate that, when pH has a value between 9 and 10, the aggregation rate of silicon acid is small, which favors to form homogeneous and compact membrane, so optimal coating pH value is between 9 and 10. According to the difference of 2p orbital electron binding energy of Ti n XPS before and after being coated, it can be inferred that Si and Al in coating layer combine to TiO 2 surface through chemical bond.

Abstract:The surface organic modification of TiO2 particles with titanate coupling reagent,which was pre-coated with double layers of SiO2 and Al2O3,was studied.Experiments showed that the modified particles exhibited hydrophobic characteristics.The modification state of the particle surface was characterized by IR spectroscopic measurement,pyrolytic gas chromatography,thermogravimetric analysis and X-ray photoelectron spectra.The titanate coupling reagent binding with the hydroxyl on the particle surface was analyzed.The surface characteristics of pre-modification and post-modification particles were compared.
Preparation and anti-coking performance of TiO2 coatings deposited by metal organic chemical vapor deposition method

Abstract:With titanium isopropoxide(TTIP)as reaction precursor,TiO2 coatings were prepared on the surface of 310S stainless steel by metal organic chemical vapor deposition. Scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy were used to study the surface morphology and chemical compositions of this coating. It was indicated that the flat and uniform of deposited coating with a 2μm critical thickness,and with the increasing of deposition time the coating can cover the substrate completely with the atomic percentages of Cr,Fe,Ni constantly decrease. The changes of crystal morphology of the TiO2 coating before and after co-king test was characterized by X-ray diffraction and the amorphous coating deposited at 250℃ gradually transforms to anatase struc-ture after coking test at 800℃,and at the same time the Fex Cy peaks caused by coking disappeared with the maximum anti-coking ratio reaching 64%. Consequently,the TiO2 coating with a certain thickness can prevent the contact of the coke precursor and metal particles(Fe,Ni),effectively inhibiting the formation of metal catalytic coke.

Process study of TiO2 coating on Al2O3 particles by chemical vapor deposition technology

Abstract:The process of Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) coating was investigated in the rotating reactor. Base on this, TiO2 was coated on AL2O3 particles by using hydrolysis reaction of Ti(OC4H9)4, and the mechanism of the coating process was studied. The results indicate that: (1) The coating film of TiO2 on Al2O3 is compactness and uniform, and the coating quantity of TiO2 is about 0.1%-10%; (2) The coated TiO2 is amorphous at low reaction temperature and is anatase at reaction temperature higher than 673K, the amorphous TiO2 can be translated to anatase by high temperature heat treatment; (3) Nucleation and film formation co-existed in the coating process, and nucleation can be promoted by controlling the concentration of reactant.

Abstract:The formation and decomposition of aluminum titanate (Al2TiO5, tialite) in feedstock powders and coatings of the binary Al2O3-TiO2 system are so far poorly understood. A commercial fused and crushed Al2O3-40%TiO2 powder was selected as the feedstock for the experimental series presented in this paper, as the composition is close to that of Al2TiO5. Part of that powder was heat-treated in air at 1150 and 1500 °C in order to modify the phase composition, while not influencing the particle size distribution and processability. The powders were analyzed by thermal analysis, XRD and FESEM including EDS of metallographically prepared cross sections. Only a maximum content of about 45 wt.% Al2TiO5 was possible to obtain with the heat treatment at 1500 °C due to inhomogeneous distribution of Al and Ti in the original powder. Coatings were prepared by plasma spraying using a TriplexPro-210 (Oerlikon Metco) with Ar-H2 and Ar-He plasma gas mixtures at plasma power levels of 41 and 48 kW. Coatings were studied by XRD, SEM including EDS linescans of metallographically prepared cross sections, and microhardness HV1. With the exception of the powder heat-treated at 1500 °C an Al2TiO5-Ti3O5 (tialite–anosovite) solid solution Al2−xTi1+xO5 instead of Al2TiO5 existed in the initial powder and the coatings.
