Abstract:Nowadays, non-contacting mechanical seals become the focus of most researchers because of its low abrasion and high reliability. A short review of this type of seals is presented in the paper, based on fundamental research and experimental investigation. The mechanism, the texture and the materials of the non-contacting mechanical seals are discussed. The developing trends of non-contacting mechanical seals are summarized as well.
