Abstract:A 39-year-old male patient of mixed race presented to the community dental clinic with a complaint of a "sore on the tongue." He reported the onset of the symptomatic lesion approximately 4 months ago, a family member with a history of neoplasia, habitual alcohol consumption twice a week, and a history of smoking 10 cigarettes per day when he used to smoke. Intraoral clinical examination revealed fixed submandibular/submental lymph node enlargement during palpation, with no reported pain. Based on the clinical information, a diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) was suspected.
