Abstract:A 56-year-old woman presented with a four-month history of right-sided facial pain. Upon intraoral clinical examination, a swelling was observed in the right side of the mouth floor. This swelling had a hardened consistency, normal mucosa color, well-defined boundaries, and was sessile in nature. An occlusal radiograph of the mandible did not reveal any radiographic images associated with the lesion. An aspiration puncture yielded negative results. Initially, the diagnosis was considered to be Pleomorphic Adenoma, which is a benign salivary gland tumor.

Abstract:Diagnosing non-classical lesions can pose a challenge. A 65-year-old female patient presented with a two-week history of swelling in the left floor of the mouth, accompanied by pain, fever, and identified enlarged submandibular lymph nodes. Notably, salivary flow was absent in the left parotid and submandibular glands. The firm 4cm swelling, covered by normal mucosa, extended from the floor of the mouth to the submandibular region. Differential diagnoses considered included sialadenitis and neoplasia.

Abstract:A 35-year-old female reported experiencing pain in the right mandibular region, particularly around the first molar area. During the intraoral examination, a minor swelling was observed in the lingual region of the right mandible. Tooth 46 exhibited extrusion, and tooth 47 displayed a Grade III level of mobility. A panoramic radiograph revealed a multilocular radiolucent area encompassing teeth 46 and 47, with well-defined borders. An aspiration puncture yielded negative results, and both affected teeth were found to be vital.

Abstract:Salivary gland tumors account for approximately 2-3% of head and neck tumors. Among these, pleomorphic adenoma (PA) is the most common benign lesion. We present the case of a 60-year-old woman who visited a stomatology service with a submucosal nodule in the left buccal mucosa. The nodule had a normochromic smooth surface, was mobile, had a rubbery consistency, was painless to manipulation, and measured approximately 1 cm in its largest dimensions. The patient reported that the nodule had been present for 8 months, and no prior treatment had been administered.

Abstract:A 21-year-old female, with a history of past smoking, presented with a complaint of mouth ulcers that had been progressively worsening over the past 6 months. Clinically, she exhibited an 8 cm reddish mass in the right mandible. The mass appeared hardened, smooth, and displayed a granulomatous appearance, along with a diastema between premolars. Although tooth mobility was observed, there was no reported paresthesia or pain. Computed tomography revealed an osteolytic lesion with irregular margins, encompassing the entire alveolar bone, extending down to the mandibular base.

Abstract:A 39-year-old male patient of mixed race presented to the community dental clinic with a complaint of a "sore on the tongue." He reported the onset of the symptomatic lesion approximately 4 months ago, a family member with a history of neoplasia, habitual alcohol consumption twice a week, and a history of smoking 10 cigarettes per day when he used to smoke. Intraoral clinical examination revealed fixed submandibular/submental lymph node enlargement during palpation, with no reported pain. Based on the clinical information, a diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) was suspected.

Abstract:A 34-year-old man with a brown complexion visited the Oral Diagnosis Clinic, reporting the presence of an asymptomatic tumor on his gingiva for the past 18 months. This lesion was affecting both his speech and aesthetics. Upon intraoral examination, a well-defined, pedunculated nodule was observed in the attached gingiva of the anterior maxilla, which was covered by normal mucosa. In an effort to determine the nature of this lesion, an excisional biopsy was performed, initially with the diagnostic suspicion of a non-neoplastic inflammatory condition.

Abstract:A 30-year-old woman presented with a sizable swelling on the left side of the hard palate, experiencing pressure sensations behind the left eyeball and within the left maxillary sinus. Additionally, she reported numbness in adjacent structures. These symptoms had been progressing over the course of 18 months before seeking the specialist's attention. The patient had previously undergone endodontic treatment on a left upper molar in an attempt to address the issue. Imaging examinations revealed a large area of soft tissue radiodensity enveloping the left eye orbit, nasal fossae, and extending into the medial and anterior left cranial fossa.

Abstract:A 16-year-old male patient presented to the oral and maxillofacial surgery service with a painless swelling in the maxilla. Clinically, a noticeable increase in volume was observed in the region of the upper left canine, resulting in facial asymmetry. A cone-beam computed tomography revealed a well-defined, radiolucent lesion measuring approximately 10mm in diameter. Based on the clinical and radiographic appearance, an excisional biopsy was performed. Microscopic examination of the specimen showed a fibrous capsule covered by odontogenic epithelium with extensive intraluminal projections, characterized by the presence of plexiform cords, ductiform structures, and formations resembling rosettes.

Abstract:A 40-year-old female patient was referred with a complaint of painful symptoms in the face for approximately three months. During the physical examination, reports discomfort in the left cheek region with episodes of pain, and denies comorbidity. She also reports that in a previous consultation, imaging tests were requested, and a lesion was observed in the body of the mandible. In intra and extraoral examination, no alterations were observed. The imaging exams show a hyperdense, compact area, partially delimited in medullary bone space, without cortical expansion, and in close contact with the left mental foramen and ipsilateral inferior alveolar nerve canal.

Abstract:A 38-year-old female patient, Caucasian, was referred to the stomatology clinic complaining of "pain in the tongue" and odynophagia. Anamnesis revealed smoking, alcoholism for 15 years, and arterial hypertension. On extra-oral examination, cervical lymph-nodes on the left side were palpable and hardened. Oroscopy revealed, on the posterior lateral border of the tongue on the left side, an ulcerated exophytic growth lesion, covered by pseudomembrane, with irregular edges and contours, slightly hardened on palpation, with about 1.2 cm in diameter, with approximately 2 years of evolution.

Abstract:A 66-year-old female patient attended the oral stomatology clinic in 2021, complaining of discomfort in the palate due to the presence of a lesion, noticed 60 days ago, which prevented the use of the prosthesis but did not cause painful symptoms. Clinically, an extensive lesion was observed on the hard palate, on the left side, with a sessile base, an ulcerated and smooth surface on palpation, pink and purple in color. Radiographically, there was no observed alteration of the bone tissue in the region.

Abstract:A 22-year-old male patient with a brown complexion was referred to the stomatology clinic, complaining of "swollen cheeks." His medical history did not reveal smoking, diabetes mellitus, or systemic arterial hypertension, and he was currently undergoing orthodontic treatment. Upon extra-oral examination, a sessile swelling was observed in the left cheek region, near the labial commissure, with no enlarged regional lymph nodes. Intraoral examination revealed a normochromic, well-defined, encapsulated, hardened, and painless nodule in the left jugal mucosa, measuring approximately 5 cm in diameter and having been present for six months.

Abstract:A 6-year-old boy presented with a left mandibular swelling that had been progressing for 18 months. Initially, he received antibiotics without any positive results. Subsequently, teeth 74 and 75 were extracted in an attempt to alleviate the condition. However, the swelling persisted one month after the extractions, and the patient experienced mild pain only during chewing. A panoramic radiograph revealed a rounded radiolucent lesion involving the entire tooth germ of 74 and partially affecting the germ of 75.

Abstract:The range of microscopic features seen in salivary gland tumors can sometimes lead to misdiagnosis. In this case, a 63-year-old woman with no comorbidities was referred to a healthcare service for an evaluation of a lesion on her hard palate. The patient had a previous pathology report indicating a diagnosis of Pleomorphic Adenoma. During the extraoral examination, no abnormalities were observed. However, intraoral physical examination revealed an ulcerated lesion measuring approximately 1 cm on the left side of the hard palate.

Abstract:A 52-year-old male presented to his oral surgeon for evaluation of a right palatal mass that had been present for one year. Clinical symptoms included swelling, and no pain was reported. His past medical history was non-contributory. Intraoral examination revealed a smooth-surfaced mass with a slightly bluish hue, measuring approximately 3.0 cm in its greatest dimension (Figure 1). No surface ulceration was observed. Radiographic evaluation showed erosion of the nasal floor and maxillary sinus in the corresponding area.

Abstract:Adenomatoid Odontogenic Tumor (AOT) is a benign tumor more frequently observed in males and often found in the maxilla. A 17-year-old female patient reported a mass bothering her mouth, noticed eighteen months ago, accompanied by pain on palpation and chewing. The medical history disclosed frequent fainting episodes and a habit of nibbling the lower lip. Physical examination revealed swelling on the left cheek extending from 33 to 36, erythema, gingival edema, and tooth displacement. Cone-Beam Computed Tomography illustrated a hypodense region interspersed with hyperdense images, cortical bone expansion/rupture, tooth displacement towards the base of the mandible, and root resorption.

Abstract:Brown tumor of hyperparathyroidism is a lesion characterized by the presence of giant cells and is typically associated with primary or secondary hyperparathyroidism. Importantly, these tumors are generally non-neoplastic and do not have the potential to become cancerous. In this case, a 36-year-old female patient presented with a complaint of a painless swelling in both the intraoral and extraoral regions of the right mandible, with symptoms persisting for approximately four months. Imaging examinations revealed an osteolytic and expansive area affecting the lateral region and angle of the right mandible.

Abstract:A fifty-six-year-old female presented to the service in June 2021, complaining of the appearance of a large, dark mass that had been present for about 5 months. She also reported experiencing pain and weight loss. She has been a smoker since the age of 15 and is also an alcoholic. Upon clinical examination, an exophytic, lobulated, pigmented, and expansive nodule was observed. This nodule bled when touched and had a firm consistency. It affected the right hard and soft palate, crossed the midline, and extended to the upper attached gingiva on the same side.

Abstract:Pleomorphic adenoma stands as the most prevalent benign mixed tumor affecting the salivary glands, typically presenting as a painless, firm, and gradual swelling, commonly in the parotid gland. A 44-year-old male sought medical attention due to facial asymmetry attributed to a firm and painless swelling in the right submandibular region, exhibiting a growth period of eight months. Ultrasound examination unveiled a heterogeneous hypoechoic mass within the right submandibular gland parenchyma. The mass featured well-defined festooned contours and posterior acoustic enhancement, with sparse internal vascularity evident in the Doppler mode.
