Abstract:While squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is often associated with the lateral border of the tongue, there have been occasional cases affecting the dorsum of the tongue. We present seven cases of SCC of the dorsal tongue that were diagnosed at a Brazilian Oral Pathology laboratory between 2016 and 2022. Among these cases, there were five men and two women, with ages ranging from 29 to 98 years. The primary clinical presentation typically featured asymptomatic, rapidly growing nodules (4 cases) and ulcers (3 cases) that were exclusively located on the dorsal surface of the tongue.
