Abstract:A class of chiral sulfoxide–olefins were designed and synthesized through concise routes. Their applications as ligands in Hayashi–Miyaura reaction were studied, which found that vinyl substituents of the ligands vary in stereocontrolling ability. Particularly, either isomer of adducts with excellent ees could be readily obtained through changing the position of the substituents of olefins as well as changing the configuration of the CC bond of the ligands. Meanwhile, the substrate scope of arylboronic acids and alkenes was clearly shown.

Chiral sulfoxide is considered to be an ideal candidate ligand for transition-metal-catalyzed asymmetric reactions due to its ease of synthesis, stability, and exceptional S -stereological orientation control. Abstract:A well-defined tridentate chiral sulfoxide-N-olefin ligand has been designed and applied in rhodium-catalyzed asymmetric allylic substitutions of racemic allylic carbonates, providing the branched allylic products in good yields with good to high enantioselectivities and excellent regioselectivities. This reaction mechanism, which involves the possible hemilability of olefin coordination on sulfoxide-N-olefin hybrid ligands with rhodium, is elaborated as well.

Abstract:The design and development of an extraordinarily interesting new class of chiral sulfur-olefin hybrid ligands with remarkable structural simplicity were described. These unique sulfinamide-olefin ligands have been proved to be highly effective ligands in rhodium-catalyzed asymmetric 1,4-addition reactions of aryl boronic acids to alpha,beta-unsaturated carbonyl compounds (up to 99% yield and 98% ee).

Abstract:We report herein the synthesis of novel chiral S,N-heterobidentate thiourea-oxazoline ligands and their application to palladium-catalyzed enantioselective bis(methoxycarbonylation)s of terminal olefins under mild conditions. Copper salts were found to play multiple roles in this reaction. Substituted 2-phenylsuccinates were obtained in >90% yield and up to 84% cc under optimized conditions.

Abstract:Well-defined hypervalent iodine(III) reagents incorporating transferable sulfoximidoyl groups were obtained through ligand exchange reactions of methoxy(tosyloxy)iodobenzene (MTIB) with NH sulfoximines in good to excellent yields. The solid-state structure of a representative product was characterized by X-ray crystallography. Utilizing these reagents in synthesis provides a new, transition-metal-free approach towards N-alkynylated sulfoximines.

Abstract:Ru(II)-catalyzed enantioselective C–H functionalization involving an enantiodetermining C–H cleavage step remains undeveloped. Here we describe a Ru(II)-catalyzed enantioselective C–H activation/annulation of sulfoximines with α-carbonyl sulfoxonium ylides using a novel class of chiral binaphthyl monocarboxylic acids as chiral ligands, which can be easily and modularly prepared from 1,1′-binaphthyl-2,2′-dicarboxylic acid. A broad range of sulfur-stereogenic sulfoximines were prepared in high yields with excellent enantioselectivities (up to 99% yield and 99% ee) via desymmetrization, kinetic resolution, and parallel kinetic resolution.
