Abstract:The reduction of diaryldiselenides by Cp2TiCl2/BuiMgBr/THF led to arylselenium complex of titanocene [Cp2TiSeAr]. This species reacted smoothly with electrophilic substrates such as acylhalides, α-bromocarbonyl compounds, diaryliodonium salts, α, β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds to afford the corresponding organic selenides in high yields.

Abstract:A dimeric salen ligand derived from L-tartaric acid was synthesized through linking two salen units with 1,6-dibromohexane. The corresponding Ti complex was proved to be an efficient catalyst for asymmetric addition of trimethylsilyl cyanide to aldehydes, providing the corresponding optically active trimethylsilyl ether of cyanohydrins with moderate to good enantiomeric excesses and excellent yields under relatively low catalyst loading condition.

Abstract:Diaryl diselenides and diaryl ditellurides are commonly employed as selenyl or telluryl sources, and they have a wide range of applications in organic synthesis. Herein, various diaryl diselenides/ditellurides are furnished in moderate to excellent yields under metal-free conditions. This method features high efficiency, good functional group tolerance, straightforward operation, and easy scale-up (running in 4 mmol-scale for most cases). Mechanistic studies indicate that this reaction may proceed via a radical pathway. Significantly, the correct matching of Br – and dimethyl sulfoxide under an air atmosphere is critical to this transformation. Abstract:The chemical reduction within a family of organic selenocyanates, as masked selenols, using reducing agents, such as Rongalite, sodium dithionite, and sodium thiosulfate is investigated. Using Rongalite, the corresponding diselenides were obtained quantitatively and selectively in very good to excellent yields (51‐100%) starting from alkyl, aryl, and benzyl selenocyanates. The scope of the reaction is unaffected by the electronic nature of the substituents. Furthermore, the reducing agent, Rongalite, is compatible with hydrolysable and reducing‐sensitive functional groups. Additionally, a simple methodology employing the in‐situ generated benzyl selenolate anion (PhCH2Se ̅) to promote aliphatic nucleophilic substitution, epoxide ring opening, and Michael addition reactions has been developed; thus extending the structural diversity of the synthesized selenium derivatives.

Abstract:A mild and general procedure for the difluoromethylation of organochalcogen compounds has been accomplished via sulfoxide and selenoxide-directed [3,3]-sigmatropic rearrangement/Haller-Bauer reaction with difluoroenoxysilanes. The reactions showed good functional group compatibility, wide substrate applicability, and facile scalability. The synthetic utility is highlighted by the iterative use of this protocol to construct multi-CF2H-containing chalcogenides and the late-stage modification of pharmaceuticals.

Abstract:We establish an efficient and sustainable rhodium(III)‐catalyzed and ionic liquid‐mediated C‐S and C‐Se formation from readily available starting material acetanilide with diaryl disulfides and diaryl diselenides. The C‐H activation proceeds in ionic liquid without extra silver salt as additive, and the catalytic media can be reused for several times to accomplish the catalysts sustainable utilization. Furthermore, this synthesis protocol is suitable for a wide functional group compatibility, and the directing group can be easily removed. Most importantly it can be developed as a facile access to phenothiazine scaffold with potent biological activities, thus this strategy can be broadly applied to organic synthesis and medicinal chemistry.

Abstract:A deselenylative protocol that enables the construction of the C-C and C-N bonds has been disclosed. By using acyl chloride/AgOTf as an efficient acylation reagent, diarylselenides smoothly undergo deselenylative acylation to produce a series of aroyl compounds. In addition, deselenylative nitration can be enabled by a mild nitration reagent consisting of TsCl and AgNO(3), furnishing a diverse array of nitroaromatic compounds.

Abstract:Diacyl diselenides were synthesized by the reaction of arylselenoamides with acyl chlorides at 1 : 1 molar ratio using chloroform as solvent in good yields. Diacyl selenides were formed by the reaction of arylselenoamides with acyl chlorides at 1 : 2 molar ratio. A mechanism for the new method of generating diacyl diselenides and diacyl selenides was proposed.
