Abstract:The performance of a fluidized bed ash cooler was studied using a cold experiment bench. The air flow rate, particle size of the solids and air distributor type are considered to be the key parameters of the operation of a fluidized bed ash cooler (FBAC). It was found that the amount of fluidizing air directly affects the conveying of ash and that they have a quadratic relationship. An acceptable particle size distribution for the solids is d50<450μm. Furthermore, the experiment reveals that the height of the weir in the FBAC does not affect the conveying of the ash flow. The influence of injected air on the transportation of ash is not significant. Optimal air nozzle dimensions are presented.

Abstract:The bottom ash cooler is an important auxiliary equipment of a circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boiler. As the CFB boiler technology develops, the rotary ash coolers have partially substituted the fluidized bed bottom ash coolers in the industrial practice due to its excellent reliability. To meet the increased output requirement, a double-cylinder rotary ash cooler, rather than the conventional single-cylinder one, was proposed in the present study. This paper provided the design of the double-cylinder rotary ash cooler and presented its application in a 300 MWe CFB boiler. The design parameters, structural features, heat transfer performance, as well as the field trial results were discussed in the present study. In addition, a semi-empirical model was proposed to provide theoretical support for the design principle of the double-cylinder rotary ash cooler. The field trial results showed that the actual output of the installed double-cylinder rotary ash cooler was up to 32 t/h with the ash temperature at the outlet being the designed value, much greater than the value (similar to 23 t/h) of the single-cylinder one at approximately the same size. Particularly, this novel bottom ash cooler had run continuously for more than three years without any maintenances due to its reasonable design.

Abstract:This paper presented the structure of circulating fluidized bed boiler and the hot air system.This hot air system consists of circulating fluidized bed hot water boiler,heat exchanger,control device and dust catcher.The key equipment of this system is the circulating fluidized bed hot water boiler which fired corn-cob which come from corn seedproduct process.The practical operation shows that the corn-cob fired circulating fluidized bed is welcome by corn-seed process enterprise.The further improvement of this system is to enhance the ash blow of the boiler.

Abstract:Design, operating results and less auxiliary power of Steam generators with circulating fluidised bed combustion system (CFBC) in China are presented. Based on the specific-state-design theory, steam generators with CFBC are designed for a certain range of fiuidisation and operated within this range by adjusting pressure loss within the fluidised bed and the quality of the bed material. The method is demonstrated by taking a 75-t/h and 300 MWe CFBC steam generator as an example.

Abstract:In the last three years in China, more than 80 units of 135MWe circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boilers were ordered, and about two dozens of them have been put into operation. So far, the experience and performance evaluation of the boilers with such large capacity are very limited.A series of cold and hot tests were carried out on the boiler in order to optimize the operation and provide more information to the future design. The influence of coal properties, bed material fluidization, air distribution, bed temperature and pressure drop on the boiler performance such as carbon content in fly ash was assessed and discussed.Some problems of the boiler, including the bottom ash system, milling system, abrasion of the heating surface in the furnace, refractory stability, and exhaust fuel gas temperature are reported and suggestions are given for the future improvement and design.

Abstract:The pollution caused by hot ash drained from the bed is another challenge to atmospheric fluidized bed combustion technology when low-rank, high ash fuels are used. A new technique is developed for ash cooling and utilization of the waste heat of ash. Results from the demonstration of an 1.5 T/H patented device have shown the potential to use this type of ash cooler for drying and secondary air preheating. Bottom ash sized in the range 0-13 mm can be cooled from 1650��F (900��C) to tolerable temperatures for conveying machinery, and the cooled ash can be re-utilized for cement production.

Abstract:The supercritical circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boiler is a very promising clean coal combustion technology with the combination of the advantages of the CFB combustion technology and the supercritical pressure steam cycle. Some primary problems such as the furnace structure, the arrangement of the heat surface etc. were all discussed in this paper. And based on the discussion, we put forward a primary design of a 600MWe supercritical circulating fluidized bed boiler. At last, with reference to the results of the thermal calculation, we forecast the main operation parameters of the boiler and discussed the infection of the change of the boiler load on some main parameters of the boiler. Through the study of activation mechanism of CFB ash, the influence of ash activity activated by this method is analyzed. The results indicate that better activity will be obtained by this method with controlled cooled water.

Abstract:The time of use of circulating fluidized bed combustion boilers (CFBC boilers) is more than 3 decades. Such method of coal combustion has become very popular in China and abroad. Experiences in operation and design are accumulated richly. Therefore, it is relatively easier to design and build a CFBC boiler successfully. However, without careful consideration of the necessary points in design and operation, the boiler designed may not be able to operate normally and reliably. In this paper, the authors want to describe their experience in design and operation of such boilers. In the design of CFBC boilers, the following points should be considered carefully, thus the boilers designed will operate normally and successfully. The points to be carefully considered are as follows: The choice of the type of CFBC boilers; The capacity of CFBC boiler; The property of the coal to be burnt; The necessary collection efficiency of the separator; The grain distribution of the coal and limestone (for desulfurization) supply; The fluidizing velocities of air in the dense bed and in the free board; The design of the water walls in dense bed and free board; The design of the convective heating surfaces.

Abstract:The design principle of a 660 MW high efficiency ultra-supercritical circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boiler was discussed,while its main performance parameters were predicted.The boiler adopts two parallel furnaces,and each furnace has an independent air supply system.External heat exchangers are used in the scheme,while panel superheaters and panel reheaters are arranged in the upper furnace.To reduce the deviation of steam temperature caused by incomplete symmetry of both the temperature and mass flow of flue gas and bed material in the two independent loops,the air supply rate,coal feeding rate and bottom ash discharging rate are controlled,steam mixture headers are used,while the flow direction of inlet flue gas in the backpass is changed.Results show that the design scheme with double furnaces can well solve the problem of temperature deviation,and ensure the positive flow characteristics in waterwalls even at low mass flux.Additionally,the auxilary power comsuption can also be reduced due to lower water pump head.

Abstract:In order to improve the heat energy efficiency of hot slag,the thermal-efficiency and exergy-efficiency calculation models of two types of ash cooling equipment of a 300 MW circulating fluidized bed boiler were estab-lished and their performance was calculated. The results show that the two types of cooling equipment differ great in thermal-efficiency and exergy-efficiency,and that their thermal-efficiency is obviously higher than their exergy-efficiency. So to develop ash cooling equipment with a large scale and a high efficiency is essential for energy-saving of a large-scale CFB boiler.

Abstract:The article summarized key issues studied in developing of the 600MW supercritical circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boiler at Sichuan Baima power generation plant. The issues include the solids particle mixing in dense bed and suspended heat transfer surface, gas-solids suspension density profiles in a super high riser, bed material balance and its overturn condition between a breeches-leg, gas-solids flow distribution among different cyclones, heat flux distributions on water wall, division wall and suspended heat transfer surface, thermal-hydraulic characteristics, local voidage variation with interrupting circulating loop(s) during operation, and erosion problem and protection on water wall. Solutions to the issues were suggested based on plenty of experimental and numerical study. Successful operation of the 600MW CFB boiler verifies the work.

Abstract:Based on the Circulating Fluidized Bed Boiler principle,combining the operating practices of more than 100 CFB Boiler,the bottom ash drain,air supply,and fuel and limestone characteristics are conducted in this paper.The concept of effective bed inventory,the principle of bed inventory control and the selection theory of primary fan pressure are suggested.The authors believe that the pressure drop of the primary nozzle is the key to prevent bottom ash fall down.The continuous bottom ash drain under air distributor with fluidized bed ash cooler is necessary for some case to maintain the mass balance with selective ash.Considered the fuel and operation flexibility,the flow rate margin should be 25 % for both the forced fan induced fan,while the pressure margin 1.3 and 1.2 for the forced fan induced fan,respectively.If the boiler fuel is biomass,the margin should be more.

Abstract:In order to promote Circulating Fluidized Bed(CFB) Boiler powerplant efficiency, the pressure and temperature of the steam and the boiler capacity should be increased, and this idea is realized widely in the world. The maximum capacity 330MW CFB boiler in China is developed and operates since 01.09.2008. The boiler is designed by Chinese self-technology. The main parameters are researched and determined, boiler general arrangement is introduced, the design of the boiler key parts is researched, at last, the boiler operating are introduced in this paper. Abstract:Zhundong coal is rich of alkali metals, and coal ash contains large amounts of Na and K element, which can easily lead to slagging and contamination problems, and affect the normal operation of the boiler. This paper focused on the slagging characteristics of the 2×135 MW circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boilers in the actual operation burning Zhundong coal, and proposed the corresponding renovation plan and operation technology through mechanistic analysis. The results show that increasing the gas velocity at the separator inlet can improve the separation efficiency and circulating rate; increasing the area of platen heating surface and improving the efficiency of separator help to achieve the cooling of the furnace chamber; diluting alkali metal content with pulverized coal boiler ash can reduce the formation of alkali metal sulfate. After the optimization, the target boiler was put back into operation at the original load for about 8 months. The comparison with the operation effect before modification shows that the staining and slagging problems are significantly improved while burning pure Jundong coal at high efficiency and low cost, which verifies the feasibility of the proposed technical solution and also provides a reference for other Jundong coal utilization engineering projects.

Abstract:It is well known that circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boiler has many merits, such as high efficiency?low pollution, flexibility for kinds of coal. In China, the CFB boiler has been developed very well. But now domestic CFB boilers generally have some problems, such as the carbon content in fly ash is high and the combustion efficiency can't reach the designed value. In this article the main influencing factors of the carbon content in fly ash were generalized, such as the kind of coal, the diameter of articles and the running condition of the circulating system. In the article the reasons of the high carbon content in fly ash of the running CFB boilers and the main questions were investigated, and some methods of reducing the carbon content in fly ash and increasing the combustion efficiency were brought forward.

Abstract:Due to the high content of alkali and alkaline earth metals (AAEMs) in Zhundong coal, serious ash-related problems such as slagging and fouling occurred in the process of utilization, which has attracted wide attention. In this work, the ash deposition characteristics in a new type circulating fluidized bed boiler burning Zhundong coal was studied. The effect of steam cooled flue on alleviating slagging problems was evaluated, and the influence of flue gas temperature and wall temperature on ash deposition characteristics were studied. The results showed that the mass of ash deposition and the concentration of submicron particles decrease gradually along the direction of flue gas flow in the steam cooled flue. The deposited ash changed from tightly bound to wall to loosely deposited, which indicated that the arrangement of the steam cooled flue greatly alleviated the slagging problems. Compared with flue gas temperature, the wall temperature had a greater impact on ash deposition characteristics. Mineral elements such as Na, S, Fe and Mg were more likely to enrich on the high temperature wall, while the Ca showed the opposite trend. On the low temperature wall, Na existed in the form of Na 2 SO 4 and Na 2 Si 2 O 5 , while on the high temperature wall, the direct condensation of alkali metal vapor was prevented and the thermophoresis disappeared, so Na mainly existed in the form of Na 2 Si 2 O 5 .

Abstract:This paper presented a research on CFB boiler hot air system.This hot air system consists of CFB hot water boiler,heat exchanger control device and dust catcher.The key equipment of this system is the CFB hot water hoiler which fired corn-cob which come from corn seed produet process.The important concern which must be resolved for boiler design is how to choice the appropriate boiler furrace exit temperature and how to keep the stable outlet hot temperature of heat exchanger.A experiment is conducted to study the combustion of corn-cob,corn-cob ash property.Based on the experiment result a boiler was designed and manufactured by Beijing Boiler Works.Through one year manufacture and erection this hot air system has come into commercial operation for one year.The practical operation shows that the corn-cob fired CFB is welcome by corn-seed process enterprise.
