Abstract:The time of use of circulating fluidized bed combustion boilers (CFBC boilers) is more than 3 decades. Such method of coal combustion has become very popular in China and abroad. Experiences in operation and design are accumulated richly. Therefore, it is relatively easier to design and build a CFBC boiler successfully. However, without careful consideration of the necessary points in design and operation, the boiler designed may not be able to operate normally and reliably. In this paper, the authors want to describe their experience in design and operation of such boilers. In the design of CFBC boilers, the following points should be considered carefully, thus the boilers designed will operate normally and successfully. The points to be carefully considered are as follows: The choice of the type of CFBC boilers; The capacity of CFBC boiler; The property of the coal to be burnt; The necessary collection efficiency of the separator; The grain distribution of the coal and limestone (for desulfurization) supply; The fluidizing velocities of air in the dense bed and in the free board; The design of the water walls in dense bed and free board; The design of the convective heating surfaces.
