Abstract:Nanocrystalline Fe94-xZr2Nb4Bx (x=10, 15, 20) alloy powder was prepared by mechanical alloying (MA). The effects of the difference content of metalloid element B and milling time on microstructure evolution, phase transformation and magnetic properties were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and physical property measure system (PPMS). Results show that during mechanical alloying, the ball-milled powder was alloyed and refined. The final product exhibited a nanostructured alpha-Fe supersaturated solid solution with bcc structure. By adding B to substitute for Fe, the saturation magnetization (M-s) decreased from 161.70 (A.m(2))/kg (x=10) to 152.74 (A.m(2))/kg (x=20). For Fe84Zr2Nb4B10 alloy powder. There was an evident change in magnetic properties corresponding to the evolution of milling time. The saturation magnetization increased with increasing milling time, but the coercivity (H-c) increased firstly and then decreased. The variation of these parameters can be explained by the Nano-scale effect and the Herzer model. The powder annealed in vacuum at 650 K for 1 h, the coercivity decreased to 934.50 A/m and the saturation magnetization increased to 163.75 (A.m(2))/kg, which promises the potential application as soft magnetic powder materials.
