Abstract:Micromotor has become a hot topic which more and more scholars study on due to the demands of motor miniaturization,low speed and high precision etc.The principle,development status and application of various micromotors were summanized,and the advantages and disadvantages of different micromotors were analyzed in detail and compared.The research and optimization of micromotor is of great importance for medicine,aerospace,robot fields.

Abstract:Research and development in microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) have made remarkable progress since the advent of the first electrostatic micromotor in 1987. Considerable efforts have been directed to the investigation of the failure mechanisms and reliability of electrostatic micromotors. This paper provides a brief overview of failure modes and mechanisms and solving methods in electrostatic micromotors that are commonly met. It focuses on the introduction of the failure modes and mechanisms with numerical and experimental methods as well as the recent methods for reducing the failures and the development in future. In addition, the paper illustrates our investigation on the contact dynamics between the rotor and bearing hub and the effects of gas-lubricated bearing which decrease the possibility of friction, contact, and wear in electrostatic micromotors.

Abstract:With the rapid development of the semiconductor chip and precision machining industry, there is a growing demand for high-performance planar drive devices, leading to an increasing depth of research on planar motors. Variable reluctance planar motors, induction planar motors, permanent-magnet synchronous planar motors and DC planar motors are discussed in this paper along with their working principles and current research status. The theory of planar motors remains incomplete and immature despite the extensive research conducted by scholars and research institutions on crucial aspects like magnetic field analysis and electromagnetic force calculations. The objective of this paper is to provide a comprehensive review of the research and development status of planar motors in order to positively impact future advancements in this field.

Abstract:Aimed at the design specificity of the PM bearingless motor,the influence of rotor structure,pole-arc coefficients,airgap length and the permanent magnet thickness to torque and suspension property were analyzed,which is quantified by the variation of stator inductance.The impact to levitation force was analyzed under the above-mentioned parameters by electro-magnetic field analysis.The control system of the PM bearingless motor was obtained by applying the levitation force model.It shows well torque and suspension performance function well by the simulation results,which testifies the validity of the model.

Abstract:An electrostatic micromotor is compared with a conventional electromagnetic micromotor, and the scaling effect of driving forces is analysed according to their different operation principles. Characteristic dimension L represents the linear scale of micromotors. Electromagnetic driving force is proportional to high-order power of characteristic dimension L whereas electrostatic driving force is not. So, in micro domain, the effect of electrostatic force is larger than that of electromagnetic force, which makes electrostatic micromotor more competitive against electromagnetic alternative in MEMS. In assessing the performance of a micromotor, the power per unit volume and efficiency are the two most important criteria. Hence, the two kinds of micromotors are further compared from these two aspects. The results indicate that electrostatic a micromotor has higher power per unit volume and efficiency, moreover, its structure is simple, it can be made sufficiently small. For those advantages of electrostatic micromotors, they can be used in optical devices, aerospace equipment and medical instruments.
