Abstract:AbstractThis paper presents a novel wet flue‐gas desulphurisation (FGD) process using fluidised absorption with lime/limestone. A series of experiments were conducted using a hot‐state test facility of a capacity of 2000 Nm3/h flue gas in order to evaluate this FGD technology. The results indicate that the desulphurisation efficiency increased with slurry concentration, immersed depth of the bubbling pipe under the slurry, and the velocity of agitation. A high desulphurisation efficiency (95%) can be achieved under conditions of pH 5 to 8. an immersed depth of bubbling pipe under the slurry of 160 to 200 mm, a jet rate of 10 to 25 m/s, a slurry concentration of less than 7%, a temperature of 55 to 60d̀C, and the application of agitation
