Abstract:As the practices of university ranking unceasingly proceeding,the research-oriented rankings have been increasingly questioned for the rationality.A new idea of university systems ranking has been spring up in western countries which focuses on the whole function of higher education system and emphasizes the horizontal difference of missions among all kinds of colleges and universities.Under the guidance of the idea of system diversity,the newest practices in European university rankings and classifications involve systems rankings that take a country's universities as a whole,explorations on university classifications,and the changes of existing important rankings systems.There is an important value for China's university evaluation.
